I was bored out of my mind & was begging for a commercial just to break things up. I couldn't tell you which Sopranos episodes Coulter directed, but I did perk up & recognize his name at the beginning & was very surprised at how long & dull this hour was. Cliche, cliche, so much we've seen before piled on... The surprise twist at the end was no surprise at all because Glenn Close is doing these evil poses throughout the entire episode. It was impossible to not think of Cruella De Vil - & I've never even seen 101 Dalmatians. Didn't find Byrne or (surprisingly) Close interesting.

Though it could've used a bit of subtlety, I found this week's barely mentioned Saving Grace pilot much more entertaining.

I liked it and will continue to keep watching it, but there were way too many "camera pulls back and follows a character walking away from the scene" shots in this one, like at least 8.

Are we thinking that the Probisher case goes through the first season?

dvd182, from what i understand the frobisher case lasts the whole season, this isnt like a weekly legal procedural.

personally i couldnt have been happier with the premiere. i thought the twists were great, it was very well written, and close was fantastic. looking forwward to the next episode tomorrow.

According to EW, this is a one season show.

Where'd you read that Groucho? Because in the EW article, they make several references to a possible second season
Spoiler:
Byrne doesn't know why she ends up covered in blood, or even whose blood it is, but she assumes it complicates her return for season 2. ''Why would you want to go back to the office after what happened to her?'' she laughs. ''She'd have to get a pretty big pay raise.''

The series was envisioned with Hewes tackling new cases each season (Danson's will be resolved at the end of this one), but her shingle will only be out for so long.

They do say FX shows and shows of this type have limited shelf life, but I didn't get the sense this was a one off.

Hmm...maybe it was TV Guide. But I do remember reading that, although your information directly contradicts it.

anybody else keep watching? i thought the second episode was fantastic. i loved how frobisher was going back and forth on how to deal with his problem. very human. i rewatched it again and loved looking for lil clues as to what's gonna happen, but im still not sure with all the twists and turns.

can't wait for the next episode tonight!

I'm still watching. Good show, but may have a hard time finding an audience since there are no heroes or villains. Everybody has a "grey hat".

Caught this off of Itunes. I take it Patty never actually fired the guy in the car and that it was all a set-up to make Byrne feel trapped?

yup, you got it Dr. DVD. it seems so far patty will manipulate anyone and everyone to win. so the whole firing was just to mess with ellen (byrne's character).

looking forward to the next episode tomorrow. i am totally hooked on this show.

I have all the eps so far sitting on Tivo. Anyone start this show and decide to drop? Is it worth watching?

Excellent writing and acting, and the way it's presented is very good. It's most definitely worth watching. So much happens so quickly. It's become the show I currently look forward to the most and tonight's episode is supposed to be big one in terms of importance, don't forget to keep on recording it.

I love the show. Some of the sub-plots I could do without, but the acting is good and the plotting is well paced.

Still eagerly watching. I love the twists on developments already shown. Since nothing is as it first seems, it keeps you guessing.

Another interesting episode leading up to the final 2 for this season(?). Lots of pieces falling into place as the past is catching up to the present storyline.

Who was the female in Ellen's apartment at the end of the episode (was it Lila)?

Started a thread for the new one.

Found this: 'Damages' may not survive
It would be a great challenge to replicate the high quality of this season. But if they're leaving a crack open in the finale for a second one, I'm up for it!!

I started watching this after work on Tuesday and am now on episode 11, considering how little time after work I've had lately that's a shitload...

This show is ridiculously addictive. The future segments gimmick really builds up curiosity and makes the entire thing feel ridiculously well planned, and the Ellen's evolution through key moments is surprisingly well done.

Will hopefully finish it tonight while juggling Lost in there as well. Some of the plot lines seem a little unneeded thus far, but I can excuse them unless they end up as passable details.

Edit: Finished it, good stuff!

TV Guide said that Damages season 2 will most likely air in January 2009.

Question: Love your column! Any word on when the second season of Damages will be coming to a TV near me? — Mark

Ausiello: It's looking like Jan. '09. The new season of Rescue Me will likely follow in March '09.

I was hoping it would air this summer, but maybe that means The Shield will air sooner than fall?
