DirecTV drops BeIn sports.

They’re the channel that televises mostly soccer. It’s on the sports pack.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

What do people think of the genie menu update that came out in 2018?

They did another one with bigger fonts in Dec 2018

The only thing I don't like is when you want to see all the upcoming episodes for a show it just shows one episode and just the airdates for that one episode and not all the episodes past and future unless you enter the title of the show in the search engine.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Calling the retention line to get discounts still works well. I wasn't able to get my bill down to $10 per month like last year, but they knocked $50 off per month for a year.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I just lost the CW network.

Usually when this happens there is a note on the channel saying there is a dispute with the network but this one just says it's no longer available.

Used the channel locartor and it is not listed.

Was there until a couple days ago and there is no dispute listed on the dispute checker.

Well, you can always fall back on the CW streaming app. Free with short commercials. They carry the last 5 episodes of all their shows.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

That’s what I’m doing for the flash which is fine but I haven’t watched any of Supergirl and the dvr didn’t record the first show this season.
So catching up and staying up on that one might be a no go.
Guess I’ll,just delete that one and wait till it pops up on Netflix.

Can you ask Directv for the NY or LA CW Feed if that is possible?

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I get the ABC and FOX NY and LA feeds but i have to pay extra for them.

How come when you download a show off directv on demand it looks like the picture is going fast or in fast forward?

That is why I hope I don't forget to record a program instead of downloading it.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

The latest Dtv nonsense is that they will be dropping about 23 Viacom channels.
Including MTV, Tvland,Nick Paramount Net and Comedy Central.

Could happen at any moment.

I was watching Tosh tonight and the message popped up on the bottom of the screen.
It was there for a moment then the info disappeared.

It comes up as a block box with text on the bottom but it appears that the text is being covered over with black masking as soon as the text info appears.

Since we cancelled the football package last year there doesn’t seem to be much reason for us to keep Dtv anymore.

I hope that does not happen.

Such a pain in the ass and hope this gets settled.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Unfortunately carriage disputes are always part of any cable or satellite subscription.

I've been with DirecTV since 2003 and it's continued to get more and more expensive every year. I'm paying $157 with promotional credits, but when those run out or if they decided to not offer me anymore, I may have to bail for one of the Internet Live TV things like Hulu or YouTube TV. Apparently DirecTV Now sucks and they took away channels. Only thing is that I would lose access to watching the Lakers since no live Internet TV provider carries their channel and that would suck.

You should be able to get it if you add a HD antenna to your setup with a streaming service. I think?

I'm also close to ditching DTV. Not sure which service would be a good choice for me yet though.

No....All non-national Laker games in Los Angeles are exclusive to Spectrum SportsNet. The Lakers became cable-exclusive about 6 years ago with a 25 year deal.

Only way I can get Spectrum SportsNet aside from DirecTV is joining Spectrum cable.

Really?? WTF...I thought all markets had (non-national) games available on public TV for their market. So if you're poor and can't afford a cable service you can't watch your home team?

Yup, same thing happened to the Dodgers. They're on a 25-30 year deal with Spectrum. All Dodger games are cable exclusive and no other provider took their channel, so they are as of right now cable exclusive solely to Spectrum.

Yeah if you can't afford cable and love the Lakers or Dodgers in LA, you're hosed.

Wow; what a shitty situation for sports fans out there who either can't afford cable or want to cut the cord.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Yeah. On the one hand, it gives them a ton of revenue to go out and spend on players. But paying a mint for DirecTV and not being able to watch the Dodgers or even a lot of USC/UCLA games (because of no Pac 12 network) really sucks.

I'm also out if I don't get the next round of discounts. The current Genie DVR interface sucks really badly.

Yup...tell me about it.

And I just double checked. Only DirecTV/AT&T U-Verse and Spectrum cable carry the Lakers channel Spectrum SportsNet in my area.

So I would be hosed and lose access to pretty much the entire Lakers season if I dropped DirecTV, so that's why I reluctantly stay with them even though they're so freaking expensive.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Boomerang is garbage.
Not even HD.

I dont know anything about the other channels.
Boom has been on a free preview for about a month.
