I hadn't thought of that, but it's an interesting theory and it fits.

Not financially, but as far as stature is concerned, the Jake we saw was kind of... irrelevant.
The old Jake Kane would have been wearing dinner wear and enjoying a meal at a big table. This Jake kane was eating take-out at a coffee table.
The old Jake would have been associating with the president and G8 leaders... This Jake... is hanging around with college kids.
His decline over S4 and beyond would have made a great subplot.
And his wife was nowhere to be seen. Wonder if they divorced?

I'm pretty sure his motivation was to distribute free porn.

Since this show is over and we are very unlikely to get another Soundtrack, does anyone know where I might be able to get the season 3 theme?

I guess they are going to be including the trailer they shot for the FBI show on the next DVD release.

She appears to be out of the picture. Which for money like that is the same as a divorce.
Again, an interesting subplot we'll never see...
At least until Dark Horse Comics says the magic words and a Veronica Mars: Season 4 comic is published.

I finished watching the finale last night and it left me wishing for a fourth season. Most of Season 3 wasn't that great, but I really enjoyed the last few episodes, especially the finale with some past characters coming back.

What I want to know is if we should read anything into the last statement here about big-screen ideas.

The plan for a possible 4th season/revamp/spin-off (whatever you want to call it)? Put Veronica in the FBI. Apparently this is a concept trailer, running around 6 minutes we're told, that the producers put together for The CW, to get them interested enough in keeping the show around. No dice; the execs at The CW didn't bite, the program was axed, and now the producers are toying with big-screen ideas instead.

If they won't put money into a new season of a tv show, why would they ever plunge any money into producing a theatrical feature film and then waste money marketing it for theaters? It might equal the same as the price tag of a 4th season.

Depending on the concept, you should be able to make a Veronica Mars film pretty cheap. You probably don't have sophisticated effects, and I imagine they could get at least some of the players from the cast at a decent salary.

I'd love to see Veornica Mars in the cinema. I'd be their opening night.

A season of VM would probably run somewhere in the ballpark of approx $40 million, give or take. A big-screen movie w/ promotion, probably around $15 million. BUT (and this a big IF), would a VM get 2.5 million butts in the theater to make the money back?

Don't confuse the producer's desire to spend money with the networks unwillingness to spend money. In most cases they're not the same people/companies.

I'd think $15 million would be pretty easy if the film can be scheduled right (likely in the spring) and can be sold to more than just the die hard VM audience. That's like a $6-7 million opening.

Even Rob Thomas has said that getting a film made from a TV show that had low ratings and cancelled would be tough.

It's happened before though. Just ask Joss Whedon.

Also remeber that Joel Silver is the main big wig producer behind Veronica Mars (how did he get involved in this show btw, sounds out of his 'ballpark'

And since Whedon is/was a fan of Veronica Mars, I'm sure he can give Thomas pointers.

Also, depending on how well Nancy Drew does, VMars could have a chance to make it to the big screen.

Now the only question is when Encyclopedia Brown is going to have a comeback.

Kevin Smith is also fond of the show and (like him or not) is very skilled at making movies on the cheap that turn a profit during their theatrical run.

Your point?

That candy bar has been around for years - although it pretty much failed here (discontinued in 2002) not unlike Veronica Mars was "discontinued".

There was talk of getting a campaign going to send Mars bars to Dawn Ostroff, I'm guessing this is a reference to that.

I had no idea Mars bars were discontinued here. I guess that goes to show how little I cared about them, though.
