I, for one, really liked the Castro look-alike. I thought he had the best sound of anybody yet. I just hope he changes his look a bit.

It seems like AI has listened to the recent backlash, there didn't seem to be any contestants last night with obvious mental problems.

The 21 y/o guy with the chipped, hell, broken tooth (Robert Lee Whatever) who thought he sounded like Elvis???????

The heavy guy with the huge goatee had amazing tone, but he sang thru his nose (didn't really talk thru his nose, tho). Get him together with a vocal coach and he is gonna blow the roof off......

I loved Simon's jab at taylor hicks.

I heard that too, something like "he can sing circles around Taylor". Which was true, based off of the one song. Taylor was a good performer with a pretty good voice, but Jason "Sundance" Head had a very powerful voice.

And I agree that the one hour show was much better than the two hour shows that they had last week (though it'll be a two hour show again tonight) simply because they were showing more good singers rather than the bad ones. Really, I don't want to see bad singer after bad singer.

Sundance is my early favorite.

Was anyone laughing at that arrogant black chick with the sun glasses who thought she was all that. Her song choice "Disco Inferno" was beyond bad and I almost thought her boobs were going to pop out during that rendition.

Loved it when it cut to Paula covering up her own breasts...

What's the deal with them not allowing that black chick w/ the red hair through? She was a above average singer. They didn't want her b/c she sounded too much like other people? Since when has that stopped them from putting people through before?

There were really no funny ones tonight. That's because it was only an hour, I guess. I can't wait to see tonight.

NY has weird people to begin with...I can only imagine the ones that showed up to audition.

If the Castro/Osama look a like doesnt make the finals, it will be an outrage!

I liked that bit, too, but I REALLY wish they'd film some long shots of the judge's reactions in the same frame as the performer. That bit was probably filmed after the fact. I enjoy the show, but it drives me a little nuts that SO MUCH of the program is pieced together in the editing room, actual chronology be damned.

It's starting to feel like "American Dreamz" now.

Me too. Why? Because he can sing AND isn't "into himself" like so many other potentials.

How long before "Sundance Head" becomes a household name?

I got a kick out of Frank "N' Beans". I love how he goes out the audition room and all the cheerleaders and marching band are ready to celebrate, but he tells them he didn't make it. Without missing a beat, the tuba guy gives him a "Wah Wah Wah Waaaahhhh" sound (like they would do in old sitcoms/cartoons when someone does something stupid).

Brace girl scares me I guess you can't do much about those braces for the time being, but reign in those gums, for gods sake!

I think they felt sorry for the guy who missed the birth of his child waiting for an audition. I hope he regrets it because he doesn't sound that good.

I thought she was signalling the singer to cover up. Not only were they in danger of popping out but one was sliding out from below. Yikes.

In a completely unrelated note, I'm heading up to a party in Park City tonight. With a little luck, perhaps I'll get some Sundance head of my own.

Seacrest has been much less annoying and far more amusing this year. His bleeped out word made me laugh but I was cracking up when he let that semi-mentally challenged guy that sang "Burning Love" just ramble on. The blank stare was priceless.

I totally agree. They definitely only put him through because the poor bastard missed the birth, and that would've been cruel..

I know it was due to time limitations but that final montage of those going to Hollywood had plenty of contestants we did not see in front of RPS.

Just like they did in previous years we are going to see their 1st auditions inter-spliced with the various singing exercises they perform while already in Hollywood.
