What's up with the locked door? Am I the only person who doesn't see the purpose of this? I guess it was slightly funny the first couple times, but why should these people expect that the door won't open? I normally like Simon, but he acts like such an ass when he tells these people to use the other door. Why would they know this and why do we need to see it so many times?

My guess is that the locked door is there to protect seacreast and family members who are trying to listen in from getting an earbotomy.

Hey it happens at every awards show, you see 100 people accept there award before you and exit stage left, you winm yours and head to the right.

It's still funny.

I blame the mysterious woman working for AI always sitting by those doors. She looks innocent, but is probably either locking the door or taking down the "Other door" sign just to cause trouble.

The Indian guy reminded me of Justin from "Ugly Betty".

"And Simon, I do NOT look like a monkey!"
"I just wanted one chance. The public would vote for me. They would!"

How are there this many people in the world, let alone just one city, who are so delusional?

I liked the Indian siblings. Very unpretentious and both clearly talented. I think the girl simply had a little worse case of nerves and will do much better once she gets over that. You can tell they actually came from a serious music background unlike some of the other jokers who claim to have been around music all their lives.

For some, it is strange that there are people like that. However, I heard that the screening process to even get in front of Simon, Paula and Randy (here on addressed as SP&R) is fairly lengthy. First, weeks before the three are even there, the mob gets 30-seconds to audition in front of two low-level producers (and there are two producers/volunteers at each). Then those who get through must then audition again for another group.

I can't remember which city this was, but out of the 10,000 who came, only 100 made it to the second level and only 60 (might've been even less) made it to audition in front of SP&R. So, I think what happens is when these truly awful, dillusional singers come in, their idea that they actually are good is only propped up by the process...

I thought her tone was more than adequate; but once that sound hit the front of her mouth, that was where the problems began. Her lips and teeth creating speech impediments were what killed her chances.

Sorry, can't agree on her face. You could drive a truck thru her diastoma......

She has the best job... she gets to hand out the "golden tickets".

I think it's funny. And I don't see how he acts like an ass...all he does is say "Other door".

To those saying they aren't showing very many good auditions, I just don't think there are enough to show. I think in the four hours total, maybe 30 people made it, and we saw a good chunk of those.

I'm sure this has been mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but here's the MySpace page for the contestants in case it hasn't: http://deathbycamera.com/?p=30

That was damn funny to look through. Did anyone else notice that the "Taylor Hicks" guy lied about his age, because his MySpace page says 31, which is over the age limit for the show.

The auditions have always been my favorite part of this show. But I gotta admit that when Simon called that guy a monkey it was probably the first time I really felt sorry for someone up there. I know that guy was a little smartass during some moments, but it just seemed a bit over the line ragging on his looks like that.

The bush baby and his big buddy were on Kimmel last night, and will be again in the near future.

Instead of 1 "Willam Hung" we get 2 this season. I guess a duets CD might be in the near future

so nobody watched this tonight?

Well, despite the PR FOX is putting out, I think they are being meaner this year. BUT, this shortened episode was much better than the first two. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but tonights episode clocked in at around 37-38 minutes.

I love it when Ryan just staands there and says nothing and it's all awkward.

I think this episode was better because it was only a 1 hour show. They actually showed people who can sing (especially that shy girl and "Sundance") and not just the train wrecks.

I've never seen an episode of AI before this year and tuned in to the last one just because I was folding laundry. I saw the shy/Stevie Wonder audition (which was awesome) and then Black Elvis came on. I assume he didn't do well because I turned it off halfway through.

Who was the person that in the promos was said to look horrific but did a good job?

I'm not sure but it could have been Sundance or the Fidel Castro/Osama Bin Laden lookalike.
