Same girl + Same producers = No go even if Paula was there.

That was the best moment of last night show for me. Based on what they showed last night, I didn't think that the talent at the LA audition was that great.

Why not? Simon's not a "celebrity" judge - most people didn't know who he was before AI. He's the show's creator. He's the head guy of the production company that makes AI, makes the CDs and DVDs these people put out, runs the tours and appearances. Why wouldn't Simon, and a panel of his choosing, be able to make the decisions? And he's clearly passed people through he didn't like (Taylor, for instance). Of course, if you're convinced there's a shadow conspiracy calling all the shots (kind of like from "24"), there won't be any convincing you otherwise.
I think the girl had a shot if Paula was there. You start off with the negative from Simon. Paula is the "easiest" of the judges, so you could very well have a yes there. Then Randy is the tie-breaker. And he's been shown to cave, especially if the contestant starts making pleading eyes, even if he doesn't seem that crazy about the person.

I have to say that the 64 year old man whosang for his wifewho sadly passed away 2 days before he was to sing) was a very nice 'throwback' singer. It actually was nice to hear someone who was putting passion into singing and not doing it for other reasons. I also thought he was better than most of the guys who got through to Holltwood.
I also am usually in agreement with the judges, but I was absolutely shocked when they passed on that very pretty girl who sang that great Bonnie Raitt tune. Simon blasted her saying she was , "too oldfashioned". Sorry dumbass, but not all of us want to hear people see how much they can flucuate their voices ad naseum. It gets pretty repetative and boring. I thought she attractive, and had a nice voice. Probably the only time I have disgreed heavily with the judges during the early auditions phase.
Man, what was that song that 64 year olf guy sang....man that was beautiful. I love that type of music. I guarantee you American would have voted for that guy had he gone through.

No, because half of the people that audition are so horrible that you can't tell what song they're singing.
