So what is the range on Peter's power? If he is with his brother and shoots off into the sky, will he crash when he gets a few yards away? If so, it seems like that wouldn't be much help unless his brother decided to fly around beside him.

There seems to be some persistency to the powers he absorbs. For example, Peter drew a future-predicting sketch in the hospital, which was probably a few hours after he last was near Isaac. Also, the range of his powers is unknown; we don't know how close he has to be to utilize someone's power. So far it's been pretty close, but it could be further.

That's one of those day-and-date simultaneous theater and DVD releases that Magnolia Films is producing. It also ran on HDNet the same day, although most stores didn't carry the DVD until the following Tue.

It's the TV Forum's version of the Mc(whoever) garbage from GA.

let the heroes withdraw begin. boo!

According to TV blogs all over the place, the gay character of Zach (cheerleader's best friend) has been tossed back into the closet, and will be an obviously straight character when the show resumes after haitus.

Neither Tim Kring or any of the folks associated with the show are willing to say why the character was retooled, though Tim has written via email apologizing to his gay fans about it, and hoping to do better with another character "eventually." Right.

Was he ever confirmed gay, though? I seem to remember it was left up in the air whether he was or if scalp-girl was just being a bitch.

I wonder if this is because the guy playing Zach has been cast as John Conner in the Terminator series?

johnglass 12-12-06 03:47 PM

The actor playing Zach is going to be in the new Terminator TV series, so either they are going to recast him (doubtful) or kill him off (likely). Or just ignore he ever existed.

Well, his fake myspace page said his favorite movies were Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Hedwig & the Angry Inch...

Who knows. It's hardly important. Just vaguely annoying--not to mention vaguely insulting--when they do this to characters. Jeez, there ought to be a website devoted to "de-gayed" characters on TV. Anyone remember Love, Sidney?

While not my favorite movie ever, I enjoyed Priscilla.

Is there something I don't know?

adamblast 12-12-06 04:28 PM

It's all that damn Haitian's doing.

You don't know the cheerleader. You've never seen *anything* unusual. Oh, and by the way: you're totally straight, dude.

There was also that very thinly veiled, awkward talk he and Claire had about not being ashamed for being different. According to the link adamblast posted the online recap even summarized it as the character admitting he was gay.

Assieullo (sp) just said on the TV Guide podcast that it was definitely due to the actor/his management threatening to pull him if the character came out. I can kind of understand it since he previously played a gay character and doesn't want to be type casted, but on the other hand it's a dick move. It would be interesting to know when the confrontation took place. After the series was a certified hit you would think the producers would have enough juice to keep him in line.

Big Boy Laroux 12-17-06 10:19 AM

the online recap on nbc.com is obviously not written by someone actually affiliated with the show... hell, it also said that sylar shot eden, when that was OBVIOUSLY not the case. sad that the "official" recap could be so wrong.

so who knows if the character was gay or not.

orderandlaw 12-21-06 03:24 AM

First of all, this show has sucked me in big time. I love it and therefore hope the writers continue to wow me... They'd better pay off these plots in a satisfying manner (as has been done so far), or I'm going to be really upset.

I think there must be some kind of power dampening thing going on inside the cell - behind the glass - where Sylar is held. Possibly with an on/off switch; I don't want to rule anything out.

I'm not pissed yet, more like puzzled. Especially during that scene with the cool feedback effect happening between Matt and Peter. Why the hell did Matt just leave? Of all the people with abilities, Peter was exhibiting the same one as his - wouldn't he want to spend more time talking with him? I suppose it can be explained away by saying the more important issue was catching Sylar...

I've suspected Nathan of being a sinister character from the beginning; to me, Peter's vision shows him in that light as well. So that might explain why he's so dismissive of people having superpowers, despite knowing he and his brother possess them. But when Hiro and Nathan crossed paths, wasn't he at least concerned about Hiro seeing him fly?

Obviously with a show like this there is the need for suspension of disbelief. But for the hell of it...
General question about Hiro: Why is it that no one seems to notice this guy teleporting in and out of extremely public areas? So far there have been several occasions when he stops time, moves about, then restarts time from a different position. A specific, glaring example happens when he and Ando are gambling: he stops time while looking over Ando's shoulder, then restarts it while standing over Ando's other shoulder.
(My love for the show allows me to be nit-picky - it's fun to be a fan!)

As for Peter's vision - it was awesome! (Peter himself is awesome.) Claire apologizes during the dream, then pulls back. I'm thinking it's because even with her power, he would not be able to regenerate if he does explode.

I had ABSOLUTLY no idea that the kid was gay...none.

I've said this before in other threads, but people are much more likely to doubt their own senses than jump to some extraordinary explanation. When people can spend hours looking for their keys, keys they placed somewhere themselves, forgetting which side Hiro was standing on, or just not noticing that he moved, is much more likely an occurrence than Hiro moving instantaneously.

There's also the scene where he comes to get Claire for the Homecoming dance and he:

1) Turns down Claire as a date.
2) When Claire brings up the bitch calling him gay, he replies by saying something along the lines of "I'm comfortable with who I am."

Both of those actions have an undercurrent that a lot of people think implies that the character was gay. The show never explicitly stated it though.

That's another way to take it, and you're not retarded to think so. Several other people interpreted it that way, and I myself was unsure on which way to take it, since I understood the line could be interpreted both ways. I was reserving judgment until the show showed something more clear-cut regarding his sexuality.

shumway 12-22-06 09:33 AM

I thought he was gay, my wife thought that he wasn't... for the same reasons posted above.

cdollaz 12-22-06 10:35 AM

Interesting. I had him pegged as bi-curious.
