I dont think it jumped shark or anything, I really liked this episode alot. lots of great moments, Loved the ending with pam and jim. I think the thing with Jim in Stamford is working great. I thought this scene was up to par with the second season exept for the barn scene with Ryan and Dwight that seems out of place alittle. Still a great episode

Loved micheal and stanely getting there pretzel. Laughed when Micheal came out on his sugar high then the camera cut to him passed out on his desk. I like all the stuff with Jim and the Stanford employees.

I can now see the wisdom of Ricky Gervais limiting the original show to 14 episodes.
This show deviated from what made the British version great in season two. The British version gave you a sense that there was a reason the "documentary crew" was filming the goings on in the office - there was a distictive story arc for each season. What the hell is the film crew bothering with the morons in the American version for? The show has funny episodes, but there is just no reason for it to exist. None at all.

Perhaps that is why Gervais limited it to 2 seasons (and one special) because he knew that you could probably have more office situations to poke fun at, but to have a compelling reason to have the "documentary crew" to come back for a third season didn't make sense so they killed the show.

I never think about the documentary asspect of the american version In the British version you heard the people ask questions etc, and the actors talked to others about the documentary especailly Gervais character. I love the american version alot more then the british version and could care less about the documentary crew still being there, I never think about that during the show, Doesnt wreck the show for me at all. If the american version did focus that it was a documentary it wouldnt last long either, I am glad they dont focus on that part as much as the British version. I think the documentary aspect of the british version limited the show too much and thats why I think the second season of the us version was alot better then british version

why are people starting to turn on this show already? its coming off of an amazing 2nd season that surpassed the british version and we are only 5 episodes in the 3rd season and its still an excellent show, the seaon permiere was just as funny as anything in season 2, " Gay witch hunt" was an excellent episode. some great lines too.............

"Michael Scott: I call everybody faggy. Why would anyone find that offensive?
Toby: I think Oscar would like it if you just used "lame" or something.
Michael Scott: But that's what faggy means!

Michael Scott: You don't call retarded people retards. It's bad taste. You call your friends retards when they are acting retarded. And I consider Oscar a friend."

Liked this episode allot more than the last couple.
Funny dialogue. Can't remember the exact dialogue but Dwight said something like, "you plant the seed and I plant the seed in you".
Also loved the Pam and Jim scene was great.

Because apparently they can't stop comparing it to the British version. I guess they would rather just see it end.

The beet farm scene was pretty weird, but I thought the last 10 minutes were great once they got on with the actual sales call. I'll take that over no show any day.

The Office
Season 1
Some People: "OMG, NBC ruined The Office. American version sucks."

Other People: "No, it's actually pretty good."

Season 2
Some People: "Wow, The Office changed for the better. It's really good now."

Other People: "No, it's always been this way."

Season 3
Some People: "OMG, The Office changed for the worse. It totally sucks now."

Other People: "No, it's the same as it's always been."

Can anyone tell me the exact dialogue between Jan and Michael in the beginning when he said "you set me up" or something like that?

This happens to almost every good show around the third season. Lost is taking a huge beating in the threads each week. People complained about 24 being too over the top in season 3, and Veronica Mars is even getting some dissenters. It's interesting to watch the tide turn a few years later, when the show has the potential to not return the following season. People by then are used to the show and know what they're going to get, and tend to be a little more forgiving in the episodes because there might not be more coming.

I've enjoyed the third season, but that second season is a hard act to follow. I think the third season is building towards something though and is going to get really, really good the further we get to it. I enjoyed last nights episode and it had plenty of laughs. I just love all the subtle things like Michael telling Jan he slept with Carol and the fact that no matter how much of a lazy idiot Michael is he can nail huge sales.

I've been rewatching the BBC series and Season 2 of the American series this week and as amazing as it sounds to say it now the American show really has surpassed the British one. I never thought that would happen when the American one first started. Even the season three episodes are more enjoyable than many of the British ones to me. Granted the British series was meant to be darker and more pathetic, but I think the balance the American series has struck is very solid. I really didn't care about any of the British characters besides David, Gareth, Dawn and Tim. However, in the American version I really love all the little moments the background characters like Creed, Kevin, Stanley, Darrel, ect get.

I don't think people are turning on the show, they are just giving their honest take on the episodes. That's better than a circle jerk where everyone just heaps praise upon it regardless of how good or bad the episode was.

I agree. The BBC series was much more of a social commentary. Much more humorous than funny. NBC version is very funny. I would have to say the funniest comedy series I have ever watched .... yes, I said ever.

I liked this episode, especially the turn at the end with the phone call. Very well done. Yeah Dwight is a cartoon character. He could be toned down quite bit. Dwight should be small pieces of looniness that make you just stop and think "What an idiot". In large doses he becomes bigger than the show. But he still is funny.

While I loved the second season, in fact I think it is pretty much untoppable, I love the Office this season too. I dont question the documentary...that is the premise of the show, just roll with it. I dont question the sarcastic faces, I think it makes the show what it is. I enjoy every minute this show is on screen because the characters are so well defined, and the humor is so subtle but constant. The littlest of the characters nuances crack me up. I dont know why some people cant be happy with just being entertained by a show..instead of over analyzing it so every single thing makes sense or has to keep topping itself. This is one show that will be missed when it is gone...enjoy it now~

"Just as you have planted this seed in the ground, now I am going to plant my seed in you."

My wife was drinking water when Dwight said that, and ended up making a massive spit take.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but most of us couldn't disagree more. Power hungry Dwight has been a great part of this season, and Michael's lack of motivation to work and ease of distractedness is always funny.

I agree with magicmom, and much prefer the documentary aspect to a fucking laugh track.

95% of sitcoms are pure shit, and I am enjoying this while it lasts.

I honestly thought this was one of the worst episodes yet, and I've loved all of season three so far. It wasn't unwatchably bad, but I had fewer laughs with this than any other episode to date. The beet farm and the 'Michael on a sugar high' were both too cartoonish, but the bigger problem was they it overall wasn't that funny. There were a few good moments in there (planting the seed, Dharma, Michael-Stanley team) but overall they were wacky without a big payoff.

On the flip side, I loved all the Jim material. Jim/Karen was great, and I enjoyed the Jim/Pam phone scene. I did like the Dwight/Ryan stuff after the farm... Dwight actually giving advice in the car, Dwight being supportive after the sale failed, the egging, and the drinking together scene. And the Kelly/Angela "concerned soldiers' wives" scene was clever.

I'm still confused about what's actually in that building. I've always assumed that 'The Office', the warehouse, and the security guy were the only Dunder-Mifflin employees... but I never realized all these other people worked in that building. All those employees of Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration? I'm curious now what else is in that building?

I'm surprised we haven't seen an episode where the Dunder-Mifflin folk get into an argument with other tenant of that building over parking spots or common area usage or something. I could picture it now... Michael is giving a Patton-esque speech trying to 'rally the troops' in the war over the parking spots. Cut to Stanley or someone: "I take the bus, so this really doesn't affect me."

Anyone who says that Dwight is getting too "over the top" has either a) never seen Season 2 or b) is complaining for the sake of complaining.

I loved Season 2 and I'm loving Season 3 as well. If you all want to see Jim and Pam pining for each other while Michael and Dwight act weird then watch Season 2. That's not what this season is about.

I loved every bit with Stanley this episode especially at the end with his "only 364 days until Pretzel Day" and then he gives his goofy smile.

There are hallway shots where you can see Vance Refrigeration in the background. During "Office Olympics" they bet to see who would come off the elevator next, and it was an employee of Vance Refrigeration. The office park manager came in during "The Injury" and talked about parking issues.

It's just an office park. There are other companies there.
