I assume both of those are just an oversight on the part of the show.
I was trying to read the label. Must only be visible in HD. For as much detail as this show goes into, I can't believe they'd overlook something like that.

How can I change the country/region settings in my computer, so I can watch the replay at ABC.com? It tells me only US can watch the episode online, and like always, it seems that they consider Puerto Rico a foreign, strange country.

no, they just expanded a 22-episode series into a 40-week tv season..... as all series did before '24'

Uh... no. Maybe "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" was too expensive.

dx23, use an HTTP proxy. Or just download the show.

At first I thought they were going to have Kate just in a towel for the whole episode.

That would have been better than Jack's mopey flashback crap.

I'm pretty sure some of the people who are saying Juliet "looks familiar" are referring to Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0690186/

Without that, we would not have gotten to see Julie Bowen though.

She's already a regular on Boston Legal.

Not for a lack of trying :P This year, LOST isn't on early in Canada...it's on at 9pm instead of 7pm (and from what I know, or was guilty of, it only ever happened ONCE).

Great start to the season. It does frustrate me how with each premiere they only focus on one group or the other...really wish we could have seen Locke and Eko but I guess that's what next week is for. Lots of WTF moments but that's what I like about this show!

Than I realized I didn't know what the hell was going on.
That was my exact thought process. I was about to go back to my DVR and watch the last episode of season 2 again to confirm if that is how Penny looks like.

What was the Stephen King book at the beginning? I figured it might be The Stand since it kind of relates to what's going on but I never could make out the title.

Poor Sawyer, the Polar Bears figured it out in 2 hours.

I wonder what Henry/Ben meant about Kate's next 2 weeks going to be "unpleasant". Are they going to torture them or something for punishment?

For those keeping up with spoilers, I just wanted to clarify the first scene as described by the person in the Yahoo! Groups post above.

Spoiler:

CU shot of eye.
CD is put in CD player.
"Downtown" plays on the stereo.
You see Elizabeth Mitchell who plays Juliet.
Just like the first scene of the last season, you're not sure if you're seeing a flashback or something else.
(This is where my memory gets a bit hazy too.)
Juliet sits in a group and they talk about picking a book. Juliet says she is picking a book Ben won't like. In the midst of that conversation, we hear an explosion.
You see Henry Gale stand up and go outside; other people follow.
Henry Gale looks up and sees a plane split in two. He sends Ethan to follow the front piece; then sends Goodwin to track the tail section.
You realize you are on the island, these are the Others and they have very modern houses.

This is the best scene of the episode. The rest of the episode is very talky, especially between Juliet and Jack. No real big surprises on Jack's flashbacks. Kind of predictable actually.

And I don't care what TV Guide says, but we don't see Desmond at all. We never go back to the survivor's camp or the hatch. All we see is that opening flashback and what happens to Jack, Sawyer and Kate.
You're both pretty close, but does no one remember the TREMORS? Like an earthquake? They even took cover in doorways during the book club meeting. This happened just before the plane crashed. I assume the "earthquake" was a result of the button not being pressed which also brought down the plane.

They should have cast Thomas Cavanagh as the other guy Sarah left Jack for.

Why would she want JD's older brother?

Awesome beginning, was really caught off guard.

Sawyer in a "conditioning" cage, haha. Guess the other "prisoner" was just to see if Sawyer would run for it.

Wonder about the beach regulars, is the hatch still there?, Locke? or Eko? Hope we see them soon.

Great way to start the season, plenty of questions.
