So many fucking commercials. The start of this episode had that sense of mystery that was missing through most of season 2, I really dig it so far, but my god, SO MANY COMMERCIALS.

I like the Crazy Jack angle, it's fitting to his character.

I suppose it would be a smart idea to use the number 1 show on TV to sell a bunch of shit.

Terrific start to the new season, despite the lack of Locke and Eko. Seems much more focused. (on top of that, JJ penned the ep).
Lost wasn't even in the Top 10 for most of last season, was it?

Lost is nowhere near the #1 show on TV. Its serialized storytelling makes it hard to attract new viewers.
If it weren't for Sawyer providing some laughs, the rest of this episode would have been very ho-hum with all the Jack's anguish over losing his Sarah for being the person he is not.

So:
1.) Polar bears and sharks confirmed to be from Dharma, although the shark was pretty much know, but the polar bear has been a question.
2.) The electric cable found in season one looks to be connected to the underwater hatch.
3.) Henry Gale's real name is Ben.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Though most shows tend to clump the commercial breaks a tad better instead of thise 5 on 5 off stuff. I was bitching about it (it's the internet afterall), not questioning it.

GREAT episode. Seriously, hadn't been watching it 4-5 minutes and it already grrabbed a "WTF?" out of the starting gate. From the looks of the previews, seems like the action is going to ramp up pretty damn quick. Bring it on.

Unfortunately, now it looks like all those off-the-wall theories that "outside forces" conspired to get certain people on that plane could be true.
Either that or else these "others" have direct internet access to the outside world.

After tonight's episode, it just seems like he is. Hopefully it's just a red herring.

Great start to the season. WTF moment in the first 30 seconds, and liked the having no idea what is going on atmosphere. Harkens back to season 1, which I prefered to Season 2 slight just for that reason.
Sucks watching with commercials and in pan and scan after just re-watching the first 2 seasons on DVD.

I think they have outside access. The beginning where they state "There could be survivors" made me assume it wasn't expected.

We hadn't seen that with Jack until now. We see he suspected his father of stealing his wife, attacked him in an AA meeting, and started him drinking again when he had been sober for 50 days (and thus leading to the surgery accident, him getting his father fired because of it, and his father running off to Sydney and dying). So we see his lack of faith in his own father essentially led to his death.
