I'm from the Midwest, and I live in California now--but NorCal, not SoCal, probably people are much different there. But Northern Californians are surprisingly similar to midwesterners...but probably because most of them used to live in the midwest. That said, I've been to LA and San Diego, and being fake isn't a requirement for living there.

On a side note, how rich is her family? Their house looked like a spa resort. I house like that in that neighborhood is probably worth over $5 million.

Did she actually sell 2 million copies or ship two million copies that they count as sales? I know the music industry likes to blur the lines sometimes.

You did NOT just use the word Irregardless!

It has shipments of 2 million, and actual sales of 1.8 million.

For what it's worth, I still think that the runner's up would be much more successful if they were allowed to release an album within a month or two of the end of the show, rather than having to wait until the winner (and runner up?) have released their album which is normally four or five months after the show ends.

OK, I haven't read through all of the previous messages yet, so don't yell at me if someone has already said this.

Did anyone else think that when Taylor was singing Taking It to the Streets that Elliot was dancing like Snoopy? A couple of friends and I were talking earlier about how Elliot really doesn't no that much when he performs and then when he started up and I mentioned Snoopy, they started laughing and we realized there was a reason he didn't do any dancing during his performances.

I didn't say it wasn't a word. In fact, my exact quote was "You did NOT just use the word Irregardless!"

My point was that it just happens to be a word that should never be used.

Look...I know this isn't the Grammar Talk board, but why not use it? I think of message boards as conversational writing, not formal, and it is basically a conversational word.

Now if I were writing some thesis about American Idol, I would have avoided it entirely and gone with regardless.

So, I stick with my original word choice, irregardless of backlash.

I know the use of the word "irregardless" is a big pet peeve for some people, but the phrase "Irregardless of what the singer looks like" has bigger problems than that, such as lacking a subject and a predicate which are both required to actually form a sentence. Why not start there?

Please, Please, do not start to spellcheck words, or I am doomed!
