With Chris gone now the road is clear for Taylor Hicks. I picked Elliot to go home 'cause I think Catherine's fans will rally her into the final 2 for a showdown with Taylor.

I am hoping all of Chris's votes goes to Elliot or Catherine and TAYLOR is sent home to perform his drunk uncle act at weddings and such.

Song choices (not confirmed):
Eliott:
Open Arms (Journey)
What You Won't Do for Love (Bobby Caldwell/Bill Withers)
Keep it Loose, Keep it Tight (Amos Lee???)
Katharine:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow (standard)
I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelly)
Colors (Amos Lee???)
Taylor:
Dancing in the Dark (Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen)
Try a Little Tenderness (?) OR You Are So Beautiful (Joe Cocker/Louis Armstrong)
Arms of a Woman (Amos Lee???)
BTW, that is the performance order. Or so I have heard.
Man, Clive Davis must be Amos Lee's father. I have never heard of that guy......

Bout time Taylor does some Joe Cocker. Has he done any thus far? Been compared to him since day one but never exploited that.
Here's hoping Elliot goes home, but I won't vote in this thread til after the show.
Hoping Kat rebounds BIG time with some good songs. (I believe I Can Fly?? WTH?)

It will be interesting to see where Chris' votes go to, and if people will stop watching and voting due to the whole percieved disaster...I think Cat will go, but actually now want Taylor to go.

Goodbye AI
I don't know about you guys, but since Chris is gone, I have no desire to watch AI.....Elliot is jacked up looking, Taylor has turrets (though I would pick up out of the other two) and Katherine is FAKE. I am so sick of what appears to be an "act" by katherine.
She has a lovely voice, but she is not "AI" material, she should be on Oldies but goodies idol!
Chris ROCKS even when he is gone!

Allegedly, the judges have picked:
Paula has picked "What You Won't Do For Love" for Elliott
Randy has picked "You Are So Beautiful" for Taylor
Simon has picked "Somwhere Over the Rainbow" for Kat
And singing order is apparently: Elliott, Kat, Taylor. Historically, first
singer of the night in the final three gets booted.

'American Idol': The Heat Is On!
May 16, 2006
ELLIOTT YAMIN, KATHARINE McPHEE and TAYLOR HICKS: which one will be the next
"American Idol"? There's only one more week to go before viewers crown the
winner, and the tension is mounting. But first the Top 3 have to sing three
songs tonight to charm viewers into voting them into the final night of
competition.
Tonight, Elliott, Katharine and Taylor will each sing a song selected for
them by music mogul CLIVE DAVIS, who will sign the Top 2 to a recording
contract; a song picked by the judges; and one of their own favorites.
JOURNEY's classic "Open Arms" is the song that Clive
chose for Elliott, whom he sees as a fighter, as someone who sang himself
out of the bottom two and into the top two of last week's voting.
"He really came through with the ELVIS PRESLEY material, probably the best
of any of the other artists," Clive tells ET. "What Elliott has to be
careful about is that sometimes he gets too hip for the room. Sometimes he
tries to show, 'I am different from the others,' and he goes into cool jazz,
or he will go into songs that America does not know."
Katharine had a difficult time during Presley week, because the material did
not showcase her appropriately. To improve her chances this time,
Clive has selected "I Believe I Can Fly" for the beauty from Los Angeles, CA.
"When we met and spent time together, I said, 'You've got to reach down now.
You've got to develop your own sound. When you turn the radio on and you
hear WHITNEY HOUSTON, or you hear KELLY CLARKSON, you know when you hear
those artists. You have to develop the Katharine McPhee voice. So when you
are singing "I Believe I Can Fly," when it talks of everlasting arms, where
it is talking of God, you've got to make the audience feel that.'"
For Taylor, Clive reached out to BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, an artist he had signed,
to get permission for the first time ever for "American Idol" to use a song
by the Boss -- "Dancing in the Dark."
"So I said, 'Taylor, you have to understand that "Dancing in the Dark" is
about one thing, it is about sex. It is about the restless anxiety,'" Clive
recalls. "I took out the lyrics and I read them to him. This is about, I am
bored in this town, I am bored with my life, I need some fire to light my
spark. So yes, you can prowl and command the stage, but you've also got to
understand the lyric of what you are singing, and you can't do anything with
artifice that doesn't ring true."
As for last week's voted-out "Idol" hopeful CHRIS DAUGHTRY, not to worry.
Clive has already met with the rocker and the two will meet yet again to see
about working together on a solo album for Chris. Clive has also expressed
interest in PARIS BENNETT, so stay tuned for news from that front, as well.

I am suprised at some of the Kat backlash. SHE didnt vote. SHE didnt get Chris kicked off.
And FAKE? To me it seems like she is more scared then fake. You can see it on her face every week for a LONG time now. She is always nervous and seems like she feels out of place.
Not saying that is a good thing for AI but I dont think she is sitting up there all confident and trying to pretend to be someone.
Chris should have been the AI this year. He is definately the best talent of the bunch and will probably have the best career. Probably even better now that he isnt the AI.

Ohhhh I hope Kat is sent packing...
I can't stand her fake ass smile and how she looks like the spawn of Satin when the camera is not on her... then when she sees that she is on camera she smiles and her eyes light up.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow? Simon picked that for her? He obviously wants her to go home, because I think attempting to sing that song could be the kiss of death!

What was the deal with Chris and his 1-800 number? My Wife said she heard something at work about his number being down for 2 hours and no one could get through to vote? Any truth to this? Personally, I'm glad he's gone but that sucks if people who wanted to vote for him couldn't get through.

I think some Chris voters were smoking too much weed when they were calling in and dialed wrong numbers.
The very same stories were going around last year when Constantine got the boot.

So glad Chris is gone and I do not have to see him sing 3 songs tonight with the same steely eyed deadpan seriousness he uses in every fricking performance. I can just picture him singing "Happy Birthday" with the same "This is so intense" look on his stupid mug.
I kind of wish that AI would retire songs from ever being used again, once they have been performed 3 or 4 times. Ughh another American Idol rendition of "Over the Rainbow"
