I wonder how many times next week they will draw attention to the fact that Simon said that Taylor would never make it to the Final 24.

Doesn't help that Phantom , Rent , or The Producers were box office failures.
I'd change that to being she has potential to do better than anyone of her season.
But then again, what does it take to be the most successful of Season Three? A couple of appearances on Bounty commercials? Becuase it would surely have nothing to do with music.

The right person went home. Elliot does this weird Mr. Ed thing with his voice when he sings, he just can't hold a clean note, if that makes any sense.

But is she a Heather?

I was a big Elliott fan, and if I vote next week, it will almost certainly be for Taylor. Kat is an arrogant, immature, prissy b****. her range is very limited. she has had a couple of good performances, but overall, she was one of the worst of the final 12. she is hot though, so while I wouldn't buy a CD from her, I would buy a lapdance.

Sure, Taylor has "won" each of the voting periods but they are close, especially this last time, with around 150,000 or 200,000 votes separating Taylor from Elliot. There were about 16.5 million votes for Elliot this past week (and a similar number for both Katherine and Taylor). I think that of the people who voted for Elliot, more will like Katherine than Taylor. A lot more? Probably not, but a split of 52/48 or maybe even 51/49 to Katherine would give her the competition.

^^ I think Kat's trying to do different stuff, while Taylor is, well, Taylor, which isn't a bad thing, but he seems to do just really safe stuff. These two have been my favorites since the first auditions, and I think both will do well no matter who wins.

It all comes down to this... Taylor is a one trick pony, but he does that trick very well. Katharine is more versatile style-wise, but she doesn't excel at all the different things she tries.

Now as to whether or not anyone wants to buy her second cd.......
I keep reading how rude Kat's parents were after Elliott was told he was going home. I didn't notice anything save her mom being creepy as usual. Anyone have a clue what that is about?

Tried to find it, but does anyone remember that expose that was written by a fellow contestant where she talked about the whole audition process in general and McPhee's very phony and self-centered attitude in particular?
Last night, there was a moment when she noticed that the camera had panned to her and her face went from frown to big giga-watt smile in a nanosecond. There's something very slimy about this girl. Another poster I think used the perfect word -- 'Heather'.
[Edit] But I still think she's incredibly hot.

Anyway, I'm like a lot of folks in the thread. I just don't like Katharine, and it's not something I can really put my finger on. Beyond the personality (??), I think she has a ton of talent, but she is a bad-note machine. It just doesn't serve her well to be a Celine Dion and let loose when she sounds so much better subdued.
At the end of the day, I'm not really looking forward to the finale, and I like Taylor. At least it will be close and probably controversial.

The first time that I heard Taylor sing, I knew that out of every contestant on every season of Ai, his is the only CD I'd buy. Seeing him perform with his band reinforced that. He'll never have prolonged mass appeal, but I think that he'll make really good music for a long time.
Kat will have a successful first album, show up in a movie or TV Show, get a famous boyfriend, struggle with her weight, more than just dabble in cocaine, have an unsuccessful second album, spiral downward for awhile, disappear, then make a comeback starting with an appearance on Oprah claiming to have learned "a lot" while promoting her third album.

I just don't get all the personal criticism of the contestants... I mean, this isn't like Big Brother where we can watch them in day to day life, all we have are snippets from a TV show that focuses (somewhat) on singing. I mean, what did you expect Kat's parents to do, be sad for Elliot?

The writer made it to Hollywood and was in Katherine's group for the group part of the audition. Made it to the part where they eliminated the whole room of people. Let's just say that I'm pretty sure that she's not voting for Katherine...
Keep in mind that this was written in February, long before it was clear that Katherine would last this long but after the Final 24 were chosen.
… Anyways, Katherine is not so humble, she's overzealous, she's bossy, she's a b*tch, and they totally portray her as being the sweet girl. They didn't air the fight that we had because they wanted to keep her... everyone's playing a character, and I, unfortunately, didn't fit their mold
...
We did well, and guess who forgot all the words? Katherine... but that was the toughest part, the group part.

…
Kelly Pickler actually forgot all of her words for two days and they didn't show that. Heather Cox had laryngitis for two days and couldn't even sing a note on group day, but somehow made it through. I'm not disappointed that I was cut... I'm mad at the people who weren't cut
...
And another thing, the judges kept telling us to continually step it up. Is forgetting the words stepping it up? If I did that, I would have been gone the second I messed up. But Kelly Pickler did that and it didn't matter. Heather Cox? It didn't matter if she couldn't sing a note. They already had her on their list.
…
Ayla's a little snobby rich girl. I don't know how America's going to relate to her. They say that she's the All American Girl. Her father's the state Senator for Massachusetts, her mother is a TV news anchor for a Fox affiliate station. They told us we were not allowed to have any immediate family member work for Fox or a Fox affiliate, and I dug it up, and a lot of other people dug it up...

Elliot's fans, IMHO, are the kind who put singing first, and appearance second. I wonder who's hand this will play into. Many here and elsewhere have said Taylor is all show and no substance. Elliot fans who believe this may go with Kat. Folks here and elsewhere have said Kat is all looks and no substance. Those Elliot folks may go with Taylor.
Either way, we have our best Finals match-up since Clay-Rueben, and I am happy with whomever wins!

Thanks for the information on why folks are talking smack about her mom Mad Dawg. It didn't seem out of the ordinary to me, but she always seems kind of creepy to me. You are right, they didn't need to show her at all. Elliott's exit was really nice and emotional and classy and didn't really involve Kat's mom. Oh well. You can't judge someone by their parents.
I am very excited about the final next week. I like Kat and love Taylor and think it is going to be a really good show.

I know Elliot didnt have what it took to make it to the final 2...but for sheer deservedness...he has got to be the most sincere, real, and humble guy left...he didnt play the cheezy game, and he was so appreciative to be there, rather than the feeling I get from the 2 that are left, and that is the arrogance of the both of them. I hope Elliot goes on to make a decent living from this.
