this has been bugging me for the past few weeks.

why hasn't Ana Lucia changed her clothes at least once like everyone else? except for that vest she was wearing in the tailie flashback, she's been wearing that same tank top all season.

Just when I thought I was doing well following the show this mindfuck episode comes along. To those who mentioned the similarities of Abre Los Ojos "Open Your Eyes" you are right on the money. This is my favorite episode (thus far) of the second season.

You're right. She should take it off immediately

i think island Dave is real in some sense proven by his ability to chuck huge rocks into Hurley's belly. Also, it is a church being built, further proven by the latest ABC lost diary entry. I also think Sayid is out of control. Maybe he shouldn't be holding that gun.

Didn't read this entire thread, but was anyone else reminded of BTVS's "Normal Again" episode? The writers have now planted that seed of POSSIBILITY that this entire thing is going on in someone's head. Clever (though not original), but annoying (in a good way).

Assuming this isn't actually all going on in Hurley's head, the clone theory I posted about last year still fits in the context of what's going on. Details of the theory:
Spoiler:
That they're all cloned from dead crash victims and have had their memories re-implanted with their environment set up to reinforce those memories, as part of an experiment. However, the memory implantation process is imperfect which explains crossed signals, hallucinations, and hugely improbable coincidences. It's a good explanation for John Locke's cured paralysis.

Welcome to the party.

Lost: the Pilot Episode Discussion. . September 22, 2004.

There are probably two dozen posts with that same theory in the very first thread for the very first episode. Enjoy.

That doesn't mean anything. Hurley also put his arm around Dave and was carrying around an imaginary slipper on the island. Who says he didn't just react to something that wasn't there(i.e. invisible rock)?

I don't know what BTVS is, but I mentioned that, and until Hurley dies it will always be out there.

BTW, didn't Sawyer mention something that was kind of another 'jab' at the theories. I can't remember now. I'll have to rewatch it again.

I also liked how they worked in Hurley mentioning the caves and cleared that up, no one is living there.

Dave also slapped him (twice) in the asylum when Hurley voiced similar skepticism.

Buffy the Vamp Slayer.

No, that theory of it being all in Fat-man's head was killed last night. That was the point of the episode. And to give Libby something to do before they send her off into the jungle like Alvin and Walt or to LA like Desmond.

She didn't pack a suitcase when they made the journey from one side of the island to the other. And by the time she got there to join everyone else, all the clothes have been passed out to first comers. Plus she's still not too high on the list of being a like-able neighbor for the rest. Libby has been given new clothes, but who doesn't like a hot blond?

Yeah, but the subjects wouldn't have any body mods (Tatoos, scars) unless they were painstakenly recreated, right...? (Locke not only can walk, but he's got two kidneys again. )

As a player you create histories for each charachter,

I was going to post the same thing. That's actually one of my favorite BtVS episodes and it's my overall favorite from season 6. I almost think that if it wasn't for the existence of Angel (the show) they could have easily went with that episode as a finale. I don't think the concept worked quite as well here, simply because Hurley isn't as central to Lost as Buffy was to BtVS. But it still brought an interesting element to the whole thing.

In the episode I watched, they were coconuts, not rocks.

It's funny to go back and read some of the old Lost threads. Here's a good post from the first thread:

Yeah, I am not so sure about [The Monster] either. For all I know, it could be revealed in the next episode but I doubt it. I hope that it does not get dragged out too long...
or

I'm pretty sure I already saw this in the theaters. It was called Jurassic Park III.

The only real question here is:
Who has bigger boobs? Hurley or Kate?

This show is screwing with my head!

As for the Canadian promo, it never occured to me that the US people didn't see it. I was wondering why people weren't talking about

Spoiler:

Well there you go. He reacted to something that wasn't there in the "real" world, so why wouldn't he react to Dave throwing Coconuts at him? Dave is NOT on the island.

Opinion of course. Don't crucify me.

If this was all in Hurley's head, would we still be privledged to all these backstories? Can it be in his head, if he wasnt present when say, Charlie, Jack and Kate went to the plane in season one and found the pilot?

Well, it was done on St Elsewhere. It was all a dream by Tommy Westphall, an autistic child. Tommy was not in every scene, he just had a great imigination. Plenty of backstories. Where is this show, we need it on dvd.

Well, the entire show is make believe. It all takes place in the writers heads. Yet after it's filmed, we get to watch it. So I don't have any problem extending that same logic to Hurley. If the writers can invent fictional backstories for fictional characters, why wouldn't Hurley be able to do the same?

Of course I'd put money down that says in the end this won't all be in Hurley's head, so it seems like a moot point to me.

I see Libby and Dave as two sides of Hugo's subconscious. Both pulling him in different directions like two tiny little devils and angels on either side of his shoulders in a cartoon. Libby is the angel, trying to get him to stop overeating, to change his ways. Dave is the devil, telling him to eat whatever he wants, be free and jump off a cliff to supposedly wake up from this nightmare.

They were both with him at the mental hostipal and I believe they are both now on the island. The same way Walt was moving around in physical space and touching things like trees when he moved so was Dave. When he dove off the cliff, the water made a splash. I think he is one of the Others and he was swimming to the underwater hatch. The one where the shark came from that Sawyer shot.

In the hospital flashback, I thought it was a nice touch that they made a reference to the tv commercial for Connect Four where the little kid says, "pretty sneaky, sis." Dave says a similar line.
