I like the chatacter building episodes generally. This one just sucked. Charlie's back story has played out, the flash back showed us nothing new of importance about him, and the heroin bit (while believable as addicts dont' recover quickly) is getting tired as well.

I don't mind the occasional episode being character driven and not dealing with island plot, but this one just wasn't interesting to me on any level. And I hope they build of it some how to make it worth rewatching in the future on DVD, rather than just being an episode I'll never watch again.

It shouldn't be a double standard, they should all stay involved so the shows they start don't tank and lose viewers.

But it's just a problem with the medium and reason 975 why I always consider the best movies to be vastly superior to the best tv shows.

But did any of their shows have the same cult following that these 2 shows have?

Sure, Ally McBeal had a somewhat cult following, but as soon as Billy died the show went downhill. Was that because Kelly had left the show? Probably.

First thing I thought was that he thought they might be good trees for a raft.

Uh oh, another raft!? I wonder where the last raft would've ended up if Mr. Friendly and Co. hadn't blown it up in taking Walt (or if Walt wouldn't have been aboard).

JJ Abrahams has never been the main writer of the show. ABC asked him for help to develop this show. He helped at the beggining, basically teached the creators how to take care of a show, and then leave them alone to work in MI:3.

People say is a JJ Abrahams show because he's the most known person in the group, but he's never been the main force of the show.

Or if Mike had gone with his gut feeling and not fired the flare.

Washer and Dryer important

Is it just me or does anyone else think the washer/dryer may be a huge plot point? If they are new it could mean

1. The experiment is not over
2. The experiment has not been abondoned
3. The island is being regularly monitored
4. The island is being regularly visited

I assumed he was marking trees for some sort of booby trap or defense. Part of the whole "train an army" thing.

My feeling is that Eko is planning on "building" a church.

That's a great idea! It makes total sense. Eko seems to have his own agenda going on. I don't think he would be helping with the potential "army". I would imagine him being against the whole thing.

Well thought out idea!

Why would he be doing that? he has NO idea about the plan.

Given everything else that is unexplained on the show (damn you, Lost writers!), I didn't think it too big a stretch to think maye A-L told Eko about the train-an-army plan.

David E. Kelley writing for Lost, now there's a scary thought.

Locke: "I can walk because I voted for John Kerry. His health care plan works on this island."

Charlie: "I was only a drug addict while I was a registered Republican. But now that I've switched parties, I'm cured!"

Sayid: "The others are obviously Republicans. So we should be able to find them at their secret mansions."

Anna-Lucia: "Shannon had to die because she was pro-life. But because I killed her with a gun, that also tells you how bad guns are."

And you would think that Locke would be the first person to see that something was wrong with Charlie (other than the drugs) when it comes the mythology of the island. Yet, like almost every other character - the writers are making him more and more annoying (and that pisses me off, because Locke is my favorite character).

I never saw that Locke had a short temper before (that's Jack when he gets flustered) - so when he threw those punches I was shocked that the writers took his character to that place making him into the 'big man' prototype.

The only character they haven't run into the ground is Sawyer. And I am sure that is coming soon.

I still strongly disagree with you. That's a made for TV conversation between AL and Eko, it would NOT happen off-camera.

Spoilerfix is okay when it comes to spoilers, but they tend to qoute the giant idiots like Kristin from E! (total fucking nimrod) and Aiello (doesn't know shit). Most of the time, it's not anything new, but they tend to be good with guest stars.

O'Conner is one of my favorite authors. I may have to see if it's on my bookshelf and reread it. Thanks for the insight!

Not that it was a huge scene or anything, but Ecko was searching around in the remains of the fire area. Any thoughts as to why?

I don't think that he was searching. He seemed forlorn that "his trees" were burned down.
