I haven't heard the commentary, but that was my interpretation of the scene when I watched it.

That's what I thought as well, but I thought it was odd that he basically followed direct orders to find the copkillers, and that heroin was part of getting that done. I know they were also on a timeline with the whole Antoine deal, I thought she'd take some responsibility for essentially giving him free reign on that investigation. If the heroin showed up on an unrelated investigation I would completely understand. Just seemed like she should have protected him a little more for how hard she was pushing him on that.

I just watched season 4 in a 2 day marathon to catch up in time for tonight. I loved every minute of it. This will be the first season I follow on TV...and I can't wait!!!

It looks like the shit is about to hit the fan for Vic. His sins are going to catch up with him.

I look forward to discussing each episode with you guys.

Two new eps of Scrubs and then the season premiere of the Shield. I think I just peed a little.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the addition of Forrest Whitaker to the show. I'm pumped about that as well. Always dug his work.

Forrest looks like he spent a lot of time watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent. There's a lot of Goren movements / mannerisms in his performance.

I have a feeling that AssInvader is behind the push to retire Vic. Here's hoping that Vic finds those rumored photos of David and that gangbanger, giving him some leverage to knock that bastard down a peg or two.

Flat-out awesome season opener (and arguably one of the best episodes I've seen, IMO). Started off strong and never let up...save for some comedy: loved it when the captain got puked on.

Cavanaugh has Lem by the balls.

With the way Danny is running the paperwork and the way Vic immediately gave orders to handle the school riot while the captain stood there like a deer in the headlights, it looks like numb-nuts is captain in name only.

Good god, what an episode. I'm watching the replay, it was that damn good.

It looks like the shit that hit the fan this week is NOTHING compared to what's going to happen next week and the rest of the season, though.

Loved the betting pool list as to who the father of Danny's baby is. Anyone notice that Gillroy's liver was listed as option 3, and Monica Rawling was later on down the list.

And what about Dutch Boy? Man, did he grow some balls or what?

It may be a long wait - I saw this in the Dallas Morning News today (here's a link but I think you have to be registered on the site):

FX has ordered 21 episodes, which will air in two batches – 11 now and another 10 early next year. During a two-month hiatus, Mr. Ryan and company will write the latter, which will likely conclude the series.

I have a feeling that this season will rock, strap in boys it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
I about shit my pants when Forrest showed up at the school with Vic's ex this guy is going for blood and he seems very calm about it.

I thought it was a pretty dumb move by Vic to leave his card on that kid they beat the shit out of though.

Should we start our own pool on who is Danny's babydaddy?

That is a shame we will have to wait so long. It is almost like we are getting a shortened season 5, and another shorter season 6.

If Vic does get locked up after this season, I almost wouldn't mind one more season, to maybe show the strike team with a different leader (Lem, maybe).

That was the one part I hated about this episode. Not only was it a fucking stupid idea to make 'strike team cards', it was even dumber to leave it on that guy.

Also on the list was Happy Turkey Baster.

I think Teena (new lady cop) is either gonna die, or be responsible for getting Julian killed in action.

There's something off about Whitaker's acting, just didn't really hit the right notes for me in this initial episode.

Ronnie's definitely come a long way, he was beating the living crap out of the peroxide dude who bonked him on the head at the funeral home.

Mackey's not going down easy, that's for sure.

I'm thinking Lem is going to string it out, and somehow they turn the tables on the Whitaker character down the road.

A promising start to what looks like the end.

Who was that guy they were beating up at the end? Just some random thug to "show a message"?

Spoiler:
He hit Ronnie over the head with the crucifix in the beginning of the episode at the church.

Agreed. His acting bugged me as well.

The aforementioned Strike Team card was stupid too.

Other than that, it is great having The Shield back.

The Strike Team card is no big deal. It would be the word of some dirtbag against 3 cops, plus the Strike Team wanted to send a message to the streets that nobody better fuck with them.

It would be a big deal if some citizen finds the guy unconscious and bleeding, with the card on top of him.

So what, anybody could have put that card on top of him. I really don't think that the card is going to amount to anything down the road, but I could be wrong.

I don't think it will amount to anything either; I just don't think it should have happened.

I didn't like the hot babe rookie cop.
She seemed more like she belonged in a porn movie the way she was acting.
I can't believe a woman who looks like that would act that way as a cop.
Everything else was 4 stars!

I really enjoyed the episode and can't wait to see how it all plays out. I'm really hoping they nail Aceveda somehow this season...that prick deserves it. I hope Vic and crew either find that cell phone pic of him blowing that guy or maybe it'll turn out that hooker he was doing last season was recording him when he was there...be nice if they find something that ruins his political career and his marraige!

Damn January is a good month. New BSG...new Shield..and new 24!!

They had one other incident with the card where Armadillo left it for the cops to find, and Vic explained it away. I'm sure they could do it again.
