Thank you for that oh-so-insightful comment. I think I'll devote my hate to hating those that judge the value of my hate.

Thanks, though.

For me it's not a hate for the AL character, its MRod as an actor. The twat can't act and basically plays the same crap in all her roles and she can't even do a decent crying scene.

If they don't kill her off soon or replace the character with another girl that can act, I think I'll be dropping the show from the MythTV.

The Producers have already said in a TV Guide article a week or so ago that Ana Did shoot Shannon and said people were stretching a bit if they thought it was anyone else. So that theory is not a sound one.

And I disagree with this notion that every show needs a character we hate. It needs a character we LOVE to hate. If you want the perfect example, check out Melinda Clarke on The O.C. She's a manipulative bitch(by her own words), but damn if she isn't fun to watch.
I couldn't agree more. 'Love to hate'-type characters make a show more fun to watch, but with Ana Lucia, watching "Lost" is a chore, and I no longer look forward to seeing it each week. I hope that changes with next week's newest 'hatch/numbers' based episode.

Speaking of which, where the hell is Desmond?

I agree. I think a good example is ER and Dr. Romano vs Kerry Weaver. Romano was one of those great love to hate characters like JR Ewing or The Cancer Man, while Weaver and M-Rod are characters you just hate and want to see get smashed under a helocopter.

Great episode. I liked the Michael/Vincent, Sun/Jin and Rose/Bernard reunions.

I also enjoyed Eko's and Locke's hellos.

Everone's so quick to judge Ana Lucia but as others have said you need the "ying and the yang". I read recently that they needed something to happen so things wouldnt go 100% right with the tribes merging. That was Shannon's death. You need an Antagonist and an Protagonist or the show is going to be boring. (Anyone remember how everyone got along on Voyager)? There was no Drama and Drama makes good scripts.
I didnt really care for the way Ana Lucia was acting either but last night you got to see (or start to see) why she became like she is. Just like Everyone hated Sawyer last year and now love him because he's an Anti Hero, Ana Lucia will show her shades of grey over time.
I thought the show was great last night and loved the reunions at the end.
Good to see Rachel Ticotin again but the one problem I had was a daughter serving under her Mother in the Police Force. I could be wrong but dont think it would happen.

I'll drink to that!
I really don't remember people hating Sawyer that much. He was an asshole, but he was still a good character that didn't make you annoyed when he was on screen. I don't hate Ana Lucia, but she has been really one note and boring so far.

However I have been kind of annoyed with Jack this season too. He needs to just calm the fuck down with his crazy ranting and raving whenever something happens. Take some pills, relax, and think before you go running off like a madman.

The Zapruder film clearly shows there was a second gunman. The way Shanon's head snaps back when she was shot proves the bullet couldn't have come from Ana's gun.

Amen brother. I love coming in here (the TV forum) to hear everyone bitch about some show, swear they're going to stop watching, and then keep posting week after week. Rodriguez is a main character now, deal with it or start watching Veronica Mars (not a Mars cut - I Tivo both).

I think that the character was brought in to be the new heal. It's too easy to sympathize with Sawyer now and the guy is obviously on the path towards redemption or something. Whatever it is, he's not so easy to hate anymore. Obviously the character of Ana Lucia, the casting of Michelle Rodriguez, or both have inspired a lot of hate, so I would say the producers know what they're doing. And since the show was the most watched thing on TV last night, I'm guessing idle threats from fanboys aren't going to change that.

I don't get the Sawyer/Ana Lucia comparison. I personally didn't hate Sawyer, and I don't recall him getting this much flak here in the discussions last season. He was cool from the get go. M-rod's schtick is just old and annoying from day one.

Yeahhh, right.
Why do people keep watching if they dont like MRod?
Sawyer was stealing things from the dead and hording things. He didnt start turning around until the end of the season so no, he was not 100% nice guy.
How quickly everyone forgets.

Exerpt from Interview on TV Guide.

Are you concerned that Ana-Lucia is beyond redemption? I can't tell you how many e-mails I got from AA readers asking, "When is that bitch going to die?!" Actually, I can tell you: 124.

Carlton: At the beginning of last season, people didn't like Josh Holloway's character either. And by the end of the season, he was one of the most-liked characters on the show. It'll be really interesting to see, as we tell more about Ana-Lucia, whether that changes the audience's perception of her. We think it will.

Damon: In the same moment that we decided Shannon would die, [we also decided that] Ana-Lucia would be responsible for that death. It would be the first time one castaway was responsible for killing another, and it would give so much inherent conflict and trauma [heading to] the merge. We're walking a very tenuous tightrope with her, but we feel that over the course of the next two episodes the audience will hopefully get a better understanding for that character and what she's been through.

This needs to stop being said, because it's moronic (not you riley, just the comment in general).

Do eagles fans stop watching the team because of Terrell? No. The same can be said for lots of things. I know people who eat only the popcorn out of crackerjack.

You can dislike aspects of thing and still like the thing overall. It's not all or nothing.

OK, I'll get this out of the way first: I hate Michelle Rodriguez, ever since I saw her in the trailer for Girlfight. I'm really struggling with whether I hate the character or the actress, and I believe it's a little bit of both. She's way overdone, overacted and poorly written. Unless the writers pull a miracle out of their asses, and come up with a better motivation than scumbag revenge, I'll continue to dislike her. But I don't think she can ruin the show. Some of the characters are just going to be one dimensional, a by product of such a large cast, I think.
In any event, I think we can expect some real tension with the new "merge". I can see Eko and Locke having some real idealogical conflicts, and Jack's humanistic leadership bumping heads with AL's unsubtle people management skills. I like the setup.
