A little cliched, telegraphed most of the ending (You've got a gun with one bullet...hmmm). I'm glad I watch this via ReplayTV because the show is just not moving at the pace I'd prefer otherwise (I also watch VM live, and this is time-shifted). Ana really knows how to win friends and influence people, here, honey, here's a certificate for a week-long Dale Carnegie course.

Nah. Once she had sex with Sayid, it was all over. Hasn't she ever seen a horror movie?

Pound on chest. Shout at victim. Repeat until desired result.
And, screw all you guys...I love me some Michelle Rod.

My TiVo has Lost as being 60 mins next week... I'll have to keep my eyes out for the actual length of the show... but with my TiVo picking up CSI: NY and Law & Order at 9 PM, I'm gonna have to sacrifice one of the other shows.
Dang you ABC!

Great episode. Still kinda frustrated with the "legitimate questions not getting real answers," but at least we got some more exposition, and definitely even more next week. I'm interested to see what happened to the Tailies, but I also can't wait to see how the two groups merge, what with the tension and reunions.

Shannon's wearing a really short skirt, what with all the falling, bending over, jumping, climbing, that goes on on the island. When will we see a flipped-skirt Shannon?

Decent episode.
No Kate =

I still hate M-Rod's character, never liked her, now I really hate her.
Mr Echo kicks ass.

So is Shannon dead? It's a good thing they killed Boone first to give her all this deep character development to be played out for episodes to come.
So where are you supposed to go from here to make Anna likeable? Or at the very least worthy of being a series regular?

Overall a great episode. Lots of interesting stuff, and we finally get a little Claire development. Great conversation between Locke and Charlie as well. Locke's comment about Charlie being a heroin addict was unexpected for me. He didn't beat around the bush at all with that one. Looking forward to next week, but looking more forward to the week after, so we can see Sayid's reaction.

Hard to believe people still complain about the breaks various series take. Shows premiere in September/October, take a few weeks off, come back for November sweeps, take a couple of weeks off in December, come back blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, solid episode and the strongest since the second season opener. And no need to chose. Get a Tivo with a dual reciever and record both Lost & Veronica Mars.

Tonight's episode was probably the best of the year, or at least since the season premiere.
I was ready to be disappointed they were going to kill off another character other than Shannon. I know I a lot of people were beginning to warm up to her, but after Boone went it makes sense that she's the next to go. Plus, it's more dramatic that Sayid yet loses another loved one (and you thought Hurley was the only one who's cursed). I think the most surprising part about the death is not WHO died but HOW. That was a heck of a reunion!
Another tidbit - I work at the ABC Affiliate here in Honolulu, Hawaii (KITV) and being here offers me some perks (e.g. I got to watch the filming of a scene in the episode "Numbers"). Tomorrow (Thursday), I'm going to meet one of the most popular (if not the most popular) "Lost" podcaster. Ryan and Jen Ozawa live here in the islands and they do a "Lost" podcast after every episode. So, we're having Ryan on our morning news. I wonder if I can get a guest spot on his podcast?
On another side note, here's an article in one of our local newspapers: http://starbulletin.com/2005/11/08/f...s/story01.html

From various gossip sites, Maggie Grace did not want to go, despite some rumours to the contrary. She was not killed so she could go make X-Men 3 or any other movie. Rumour had it that she was getting to be trouble on the set. She wanted a bigger part and more money, and got neither, which is why she is virtually absent from most season two episodes.

Ana Lucia doesn't actually need to be likable... I think she's there to provide conflict (as was mentioned), and I don't see why we need to like everyone immediately. Having people around that don't get along makes the dynamic more interesting.
And I don't think I saw "remorse" on her face, but more like shock. I wonder if something similiar didn't happen to her in her previous life.
We still don't have an accurate count on the tailies. We know that 23 survived. And "The Others" took three, nine, and Cindy. That's thirteen that we know who are gone, with at least A-L, Libby, Eko, and Bernard left. In some of the long shots, it looked like there were only eight people (before Cindy got snatched), so it might be possible for there to be only four tailies left. But it still looks like they're going to keep it ambiguous, and once the two tribes become one, they can pull out a new tailie if they want to.
Boone's mother/Shannon's stepmother is a royal bitch, no? It's really too bad they killed off Shannon, since it seemed like she was finally starting to become her own person. I also would've liked to have seen some of that family dynamic even though the flashback was kind of ... meatless.
That's actually one problem I can see this show slipping into, is that the backstories are becoming less and less engaging. Once we find out what makes the character "tick," anything else they show comes off kind of second-rate.
I don't really care what happened between Jack and Sarah, Jin/Sun, Michael/Walt, Sawyer, Charlie, Claire, Sayid -- seems we know everything we need to know about them.
And once we find out what Kate's initial crime was, why Locke is paralyzed, and why Hurley wound up in the mental institution, those characters will be "done" as well.
Onto the "mythology" shown tonight...
I think this is the first time we've seen more than person hear the "voices" at the same time.
And it certainly appeard that Sayid saw Walt as well. Or at least saw something.
And speaking of Walt, did it appear to anyone else that he (or whatever it was Shannon saw) led Shannon to being ambushed? Did he/it want her to get shot, or did he just want her to find the tailies?
Why have "The Others" been harassing the tailies, yet leaving the fronties alone? With the exception of Ethan "Other Man" Rom, they've been mostly unmolested... and we don't even know if Ethan was an "Other."
And if "The Others" are that close to the tailies, are they just bringing that threat to the fronties?
Cindy vanishing during broad daylight among a group of people seems very strange. I'm reminded of Locke being pulled down the hole in "Exodus." In the next episode preview
An interesting point... we're being led to believe that "The Others" are behind everything: Walt's abduction, the whispers, Ethan Rom, Alex's abduction, the death of so many tailies... are we sure that's it's the same group doing all of this?

On the episode as a whole, I thought it was the strongest of the season so far. My biggest 2 complaints this season have been that 1) the flashbacks have contained just about no new information about their subjects and 2) at various points, Jack, Locke and some others have acted very differently than what we'd expect from their characters as they were developed in the first season. This episode had a flashback that actually gave us information that fleshed out a character a bit more and, all in all, I felt like all the main characters we saw in the episode were the people we've come to known over the past year.
I think this season has the potential to get very interesting. Given how some survivors turned on Locke after Boone's accidental death, how are they going to react to a newcomer shooting one of their own? Also, I think the relationships between Locke, Charlie and Claire can be very interesting, assuming the writers handle them well. Seems like they're setting this up to be an explosive situation. If it starts to get really ugly, it could cause the other survivors to have to take sides.
