Not positive, but I think that Mike's lawyers wife was Ms Meara from Head of the Class. She was also in Invasion last week (didn't see last night's episode yet). If it is her, her name is Jeanetta Arnette.

If that was Blalock, it hasn't been a very good summer for her.

I caught on that too. That leads me to think that the hatch is more of a bunker for the purposes of:

1) Nuclear launch capabilities
2) 12 Monkeys Style World Annhilating Virus Protection

Jimmy James 09-29-05 07:10 AM

I think maybe the comment about the world existing was more an offhand remark made due to the lack of human contact Desmond has had with the world. It may be that he jumped to a conclusion because he was supposed to be relieved but was instead just forgotten about...

BDLOU 09-29-05 07:11 AM

Anyone else get the impression that Desmond has no idea what the numbers are either? I think the mural is him trying to figure out just what he is doing. I think he enters the numbers for fear of something happening.

Not even close. It's "They aren't the survivors they thought they were (or think they are)."

tbird2340 09-29-05 07:21 AM

Did you see the look on Desmond when he asked how long they had been there and Locke said "44 days". Then they go to a shot on the wall with what looks like Desmond counting days for how long he's been there? There were sure a lot of lines on the wall!!!

Also something funny. I had close captioning on.. When Jin was yelling "Others" it was coming across as "...udders!! udders!!"

 Now that's just funny!

Supposedly this was originally going to be a Sawyer episode and she was going to be in it. Writers changed their mind and wanted to do a Michael/Walt episode instead, so her footage will appear whenever they get around to the next Sawyer flashback.

I liked the this weeks ep, although clearly not as good as last week, I felt they added a lot of new plot potential, especially after last years crawl.

I'm sure the writers are leaving out connections because there are other survivors we have not met yet that will complete the puzzle.

Note that Sawyer does not seem to fit into any catagory.

Fame Vision: Charlie - Locke
Wealth Abundance : Hurley, Shannon/Boone
Partnership Marriage: Mike, Jack
Children Creativity: Walt - Mike (Mike is an artist very "creative" according to his wife)
Helpful People: Jack, Sun, Sayid
Career Work: Jack
Knowledge Cultivation: Jack, Locke, Sayid
Family: Walt, Mike, Claire, Boone

Please feel free to update.

For you DVD watchers...I would gladly put up with the week to week pacing of watching the show first run in exchange for teh opportunity to discuss every single facet of each episode here for 7 days at a clip.

HOW MUCH SUBTLE CLUES AND MYSTERIES DID YOU MISS BY WATCHING 4 EPISODES AT A TIME WITHOUT THE LUNATICS HERE DISECTING IT?

CPA-ESQ. 09-29-05 08:36 AM

What did one snowman say to the other snowman?

Spoiler:
Have an Ice Day

tbird2340 09-29-05 08:40 AM

Anyone have a link to next weeks trailer? I got a phone call and totally missed it...

JoshL2432 09-29-05 08:41 AM

In the premiere you never actually see how or when Locke gets into the hatch. The second episode it all unfolds. Amazing TV. Lost is by the far the best show on TV

Groucho 09-29-05 08:42 AM

The first part of the episode consisted of nothing more than the characters yelling each other's names:

"Walt! Walt! Walt!"

"Mike! Mike! Mike!"

"Kate! Kate! Kate!"

"Jin! Jin! Jin!"

I was cracking up.

yeah, I believe that in the next episode,

Spoiler:
segal plays a character named Helen. Isn't Helen the woman Locke was on the phone with in "Walkabout". The possible phone-sex operator?

edstein 09-29-05 08:49 AM

Desmond didn't enter the numbers because he was holding the gun. Maybe the numbers must be entered periodically to avoid a "launch" of nukes, virus, emp, etc. Desmond was there to enter these numbers until his replacement showed up but, they never came. Explains Desmonds question to Locke "are you him?".

kevin75 09-29-05 09:01 AM

kate did indeed look good just about everywhere last night. one thing about desmond. when he saw jack couldn't have been that long ago could it? when locke was putting the numbers into the computer, desmond acted like he had no idea what a computer even was. could that mean some sort of possible mind control/altering stuff?

also, it's so cool that within minutes after each show, everyone is dissecting every single little thing about this show. i never would've though anything about the signifigance of the logo unless someone said something and i also missed the logo on the shark tail as well.

I dont' think theis has been discussed yet but I only skimmed through the last 8 pages.

Did anyone notice the how Desmond was counting days on the wall? You can clearly see the wall whne he was talking to locke and it looke like a long time that he's been there. Also when Locke says the plane crashed 44 days ago Desmond gets this confussed look on his face and looks over at the wall trying to figure something out. I'm thinking that 44 days ago Desmond missed his computer countdown and that's what caused the plane to go down.

Interesting. Maybe something "bad" happens when he forgets to enter the numbers... plane crash, polar bear attack, "monster" attack, ... all controlled by the island after it didn't get its number fix.

heimerSWT 09-29-05 09:28 AM

A link from a friend who just got into Lost: http://koenraadelst.bharatvani.org/a...sc/why108.html

Wayyy more reading there than I have time for, at least right now.

I mean, I've got threads to read and stuff.

spainlinx0 09-29-05 09:48 AM

Those were a lot of hashmarks, but it probably wasn't obscenely long if it's counting days. I just figured he asked if he knew how to work the machine because it was so old, and he doesn't know what exactly Locke knows.

spainlinx0 09-29-05 09:49 AM

Oh, and the snowman joke, if the punchline is
Spoiler:
"have an ice day"
as someone mentioned above could be a hint about perhaps
Spoiler:
nuclear winter?

I have to agree. This was my least favorite of the 26 epsisodes so far. Just spun it's wheels and was just flat out boring. Nothing interesting happened until the very end when Michael and Sawyer got back to the island.

Having most of the episode retread through time that was already shown last week was pretty lame, especially since the Locke/Kate scenes didn't reveal much extra. And the numbers shit is starting to get old.

And Michael's back story is by far my least favorite.

Would be pretty ironic if this is the episode where the show jumped the shark.
