Spoiler:
Great episode tonight though. I liked the flashback aspect of it. Lots of interesting information that will for sure make more sense later. Next week is supposed to be the ep that everyone will be talking about so we shall see. |
Link_182: You first paragraph discusses things I don't remember from the show. If it is from a preview for next week, please remember to use a spoiler tag next time. A lot of people, like me, avoid previews and teasers for unaired shows.
If it is something I missed from the actual episode, please disregard this post. :) |
I don't think I saw this mentioned:
4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108 Not that the numbers make anymore sense. Just wanted to point it out. Also, not sure how I feel about the corporation angle just yet, but the analysis provided above certainly does add a level of depth to it. And holy hell, those cleavage shots made it online FAST! Overall, I thought it was a great episode. I guess even if Arrested Development gets cancelled, I'll still be keeping my cable for this show. |
I actually tried to devote my full attention to this episode, but it was so uninteresting and combine that with being late in the evening, well, it was a recipe for slumber.

How people can call this a great episode boggles my mind. "Lost" is a great series but let's not fall into blind fanboyish adulation over an episode that was mediocre at best. It should have been trimmed by 30 min and included in a 1 1/2 hour episode last week. |

For those people angry about the repetition/overlap, I can say for myself that I would have been a bit disappointed if they hadn't explained what happened to Kate and Locke in the bunker. To just skip over that part of the story would have been absolute laziness to me. Plus, at some point Kate is going to have to come out of the vent, and without explanation it would have come out of nowhere. Honestly, there was only about 5 minutes or so of actual overlap/repitition in the episode, not counting the 'previously on' part beforehand.
I can see why people are going to be disappointed and frustrated by the lack of massive forward progress, but remember that this is a TV series, not a movie. You can't just wrap things up neatly with a ton of exposition before the time runs out. I would think people would be used to this by now. Also, I completely missed the logo on the shark, I must have turned away or something. Does anyone have a good screencap of it? |
That episode was mediocre at best. The Sawyer/Mike bickering was a waste of time and most of the stuff in the hatch we'd already seen last week. I liked subtle fact that Michael gave Walt a polar bear for a gift. Cool Good call on the above poster about the conference room. Props The carrot at the end of the stick trick won't work forever without payoffs for the viewer. This was the main criticism last year and apparently writers haven't learned... Kate climbing thru the air duct Absolutely beautiful. I also like when she was jumping for the hatch, a nice tummy shot  I borrowed these from another site, shit I have been on so many I can't remember which one now, but I give credit to whoever did these, they are not mine.... but its a shot of the shark and somebody pieced together the mural into one painting. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20.../sharklogo.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...e/painting.jpg |
Enjoyable episode, and again I don't get why some people get upset with the pacing. Other than the requisite shark appearance, what else would two people do in the middle of the ocean? The retelling of the hatch storyline was great, ending at the same place (bastards!).
So, Desmond is there with the notion that the end of the world was imminent, but we don't know how long he's been there. His drugs are the same number on the outer hatch, and also the sequence he has Locke enter into the computer. Obviously a desigantion for his shelter (for want of the correct term). Could this mean that there are other shelters on the island (or scattered about the planet for that matter, but that's a different show, I'm sure)? The French woman's team ran aground when they were following the broadcasting of the numbers (and she later changed the transmission to what we heard last season) - why the numbers were being transmitted would be a total guess, and I'm just trying to put a few things we know into place. A continuity question: Dr. Arnst (or whatever his name was ... Dynamite Boy!) was predicting monsoons.. will we see those?? I'm just askin'. :) Can't wait for next week!! |
I'm wondering if the people who watched all of the episodes on DVDs are now spoiled, and don't have the luxury of going "well that one was a little slow, but hell I'll start the next episode NOW".
I personally love the pain of waiting a week for another episode. Each hour has its own little cliffhanger. Former DVD watchers: just *wait* until they give us a 4-5 week layover without a new episode. Maybe they'll even do it twice like they did last year! |
i finished watching the first season dvd the other night, so i was very excited that i would get to see two episodes (missed the preimere.) the episodes were good, a bit too much overlapping since i watched them back to back though.
is the show broadcast in widescreen? i watched both on a comcast dvr and it was shown 4:3, was the dvr not set properly or am i just spoiled by the dvd set? |
Does anyone know if they are going to replay this episode (in HD)?

I was a little upset by the backtracking at first this week but it was well worth it. The bitching and moaning on the boat was a little harder to get over. |
One thing I haven't seen mentioned,
the season two trailer on the boxset. The tagline like is something like "They thought they were the survivors, they were wrong." I think this refers to the Others.

Noticed this from re-watching Episode One, don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet. Jack works at St. Sebasitan's hospital. St. Sebastian is the patron saint of archers, athletes and soldiers. Does that mean anything? Probably not, but thought I'd throw it out there.
Everyone look at the Dahrma logo carefully...that's NOT a Ying/Yang symbol...that's a snake! |
Altogether, it was an okay episode. The Michael flashbacks were okay. The "bonding" with Michael and Sawyer was okay. The revisiting of scenes reminded me of "Back To The Future Part II." The shark was interesting. Missed the logo on the shark. But, I caught that word over the logo. For me, sometimes it's hard for me to understand what Desmond is saying. I think I should rewatch the episode with closed captioning. I REALLY wanted to see what was going to happen after Jack said, "YOU!" Desmond didn't seem surprised at all to see him - I even wonder if he recognized him.
Nice touch with the Apollo bar. Distant cousin of the Mars? :) Still not sure what the computer does. It's interesting that he has to input the numbers on the hatch. For the record, I live in Hawaii and my friend will be in next week's episode as an extra and they also used his truck. Spoiler:

Here is a shot of Desmond's shirt while he was helping Jack in the stadium. There's some design on his shirt there as well.

Did anyone else bring up the fact that Star Trek's Jolene Blalock was supposed to be in last night's episode playing a character named "Nikki", but I didn't see her. She wasn't Mike's wife's lawyer was she?
