Thought this episode was just using the flashback to show us why Locke wasn't afraid and where Kate had gone. Maybe there was supposed to be a two hour season opener (similar to last years plan for the pilot) but it was used as two seperate episodes. My tow cents of course.

Still found the episode intriguing and liked the use of alternate angles. Hope the payoff with the numbers is worth all the speculation that is expressed.

Glad to see Jin getting better with English.

Ready for the next ep, really sorry that it is so far away (seven whole days).

Big Boy Laroux 09-28-05 09:42 PM

geez. where's greg?

yes, bad joke.

I was a little disappointed with this episode, just because there was so much rehashing. I liked how we saw the hatch scene from a different perspective (i KNEW i heard kate yelling jack's name last episode), but there were some scenes that were repeated exactly (the scene with hurley and jack, for example).

the water scenes seemed to go on forever, and the flashback wasn't really that great. didn't really tell us anything we didn't know. but i guess we didn't know that michael ended up giving up walt voluntarily.

overall, not the best episode, but i still liked it. and the emblem on the shark was crazy. mechanical? but michael drew blood from it.

and the ending was great. jin running, and a glipmse of the others?

dadaluholla 09-28-05 09:47 PM

Was it blood coming out of the shark or nano creatures?!!!???!!
Boooga boooga boooga!

The shark doesn't have to be mechanical to have a logo on it.

I dunno, that's an awful lot of red tape.

It's not like it's a frickin' laser beam attached to its head.

Big Boy Laroux 09-28-05 09:51 PM

true, it doesn't. i was responding to an earlier post.

Interesting discovery... or how to shoot on the cheap:

Spoiler:
The conference room in which Michael and his baby's momma are talking with the lawyers is the same room in which Claire was about to sign the papers for adoption in S1. Everything is the same except the two paintings and the lamps. I went back and checked on this.

looks like a swan.

the lines could be a pattern too.

also looks like my blue gun is off alittle.

Big Boy Laroux 09-28-05 10:01 PM

swan? or the LOCH NESS MONSTER?!?!? :)

das Monkey 09-28-05 10:06 PM

I think it's pretty obvious that DHARMA is an anagram for
Spoiler:
AM HARD

Fits perfectly with Kate's scene in the vent.

maybe there is a clue there too.

OMG! I was going to say the exact same thing! It could be a brontosaurus too! I can't believe I ever doubted this show. ITS FANTASTIC.

vegasbaby 09-28-05 10:12 PM

I'd hate it if rejected contestants from 'The Swan' show up on the Island.

aktick 09-28-05 10:12 PM

Are you sure that says DHARMA? Everything but the R seems obvious, but that's one big R if it is.

Big Boy Laroux 09-28-05 10:12 PM

so morse code immediately came to mind with the lines around the emblem. with the short lines being the dots, and long lines being the dashes. But it doesn;t really give you anything. so there goes that. :)

edstein 09-28-05 10:12 PM

Not a swan. A serpent. And that logo is clearly asian in orign, or should I say Hindu.

Red Dog 09-28-05 10:13 PM

Holy cleavage in the air duct.

invisiblegt 09-28-05 10:16 PM

I suppose it could be "DHAπMA".

With the "π" being the symbol for pi...

It could be a variation of the dharma wheel. Note that the logo from the episode also has 8 spokes.

The dharmachakra is a Buddhist emblemof Hindu origin. It resembles a wagon wheel with eight spokes, each representing one of the eight tenets of buddhist belief. The circle symbolizes the completeness of the Dharma, the spokes represent the eightfold path leading to enlightenment:

Right faith, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right endeavor, right mindfullness, and right meditation.

It is drawn from an Indian symbol, but instead of representing Samsara, or endless rebirth, it symbolizes overcoming obstacles.

Big Boy Laroux 09-28-05 10:23 PM

ok, so regarding whotony's picture.

so it's just feng shui?

are they going to be moving furniture down in the hatch?

redrum 09-28-05 10:26 PM

actually the word looks like Dhazma.
