? Shit, at least he used to actually bust his ass trying and entertain the crowd ala James Brown (now if only his music was as good). I would much rather see his stage show than 50's or Luda's.

Thought it was funny that Beyoncé didn't look like she wanted to be anywhere near the other two. And how 'bout the way Paulina Rubio removed Lil Jon's arm.
I was really hoping that 50 Cent/Game video won, then they'd get up on stage, shoot each other, then that'd be two down. Acutally, I was hoping Katrina would make a return appearance and take 'em all out.

for whatever reason i liked the fact that this year they actually let artists play one full song instead of a melady of 3 songs. (and the rock songs weren't all bunched together like last year.

Oh...and I gotta say...it was surprising that Puffy mentioned B.I.G. He hardly ever does that.
And one more thing as I finally see the beginning when Puffy made his entrance...I noticed that a lot of 80's snippets were played. It's funny how that music seems practically Beethovian in comparison to the majority of the shit that's out today.
Either that, or he's planning to sample them...

for those that watched the pre show, did Kurt Loder look out of place this year? (he called the rapper Young Jeezy "lil jeezy" and he kind of got pissed at him.

also didn't P puffy diddy daddy farty licky (Lewis Black) mention that Joel Madden (good charlotte) and Hillary Duff are to rock what Beyonce and Jay Z are to rap? I'm sorry, sure I listen to Duff, but thats not rock music by any means.

As for the rest of the show, Lohan needs to eat something, Duff should go back to the dentist and remove her veneers and dump that no talent boyfriend and Ashley Simpson should just dissapear. R. Kelly was competing for the worst lip-synching award, also known as the Ashley Simpson Memorial for worst performer. I was glad to see MC Hammer. If it wasn't for him, Kanye, Jay-Z, Snoop and all those other rappers would not have recieve those sweet endorsement deals.
Like Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon:
"I'm getting to old for this"

When Jermey Piven was up presenting I kept imagining him having an Entourage moment and going into his agent's office in the morning and firing him for having him do this show.

Do you think "the kids" realize that all these artists are up there because their record companies pay MTV to "nominate" them? That the only reason we keep getting bombarded by all this complete crap is because MTV makes a killing from record companies? I have 2 kid, one is almost 3, the other is 6 months. I will sit them down (when their age is appropriate) and have them spend a day listening to music that I grew up with so that they're not brainwashed into thinking that "music" (calling it lightly) today is any good.
Can we please stop saying "Yo", "Wassup" and "yeah", etc? Perfect example of what I'm talking about is when those 5 guys in white suits came out (no idea what "group" they were). They all pranced around saying those words.
All that said, it was worth watching for Green Day and Shakira. You could have shut it off after Shakira and not missed much. No idea what Shakira was singing about, but she can sure speak my language.
Why was My Chemical Romance given like 1 minute to do their song, yet you have 50 talking to everyone for like 5 minutes. And thats realy what it is.
I thought the most laughable thing all night was that guy that is suppose to be the best Freestyle rapper in the world (he was with Knoxville) and he does his rap and it was like they asked me to do some rap. I mean, it couldn't have been worse.
As bad as the music is nowadays, can they AT LEAST make a rule that you can't lip sync, that you actually have to perform your music live?
I will now light myself on fire.

Payola has been going on for a LONG time. It was going on when the artists you're going to expose your kids to were being played on the radio as well... it's how the industry is. Unfortunately, MTV has turned into the end-all-be-all for the younger generation... kids learn how to BE from this insipid station, and no one is doing anything about it. It's unfortunate, but that's just reality these days... there's no escaping it I'm afraid.
