Ah...a fellow Sirius 22 listener! That's my fav channel as well.

It's a shame Stern won't be on free TV for his fans who don't want to subscribe to radio, but I understand how it would be hard to edit for television. Like someone above said, I'll reserve judgement til I see what ya get for what price.

And am I hearing that ya can't listen to O&P AND Stern? Is that some unwritten law? Can I still listen to the Stones AND The Beatles?

If it is a choice btwn VOD and basic cable for Stern, that's a no-brainer. I don't want pixelation and editing.

A year ago, I felt the same way as you. I couldn't imagine anyone paying for radio. Then during a poker night at a friend's house, someone had the Sirius boombox and it was on one of the music channels. Loved the playlist and the fact that there was no commercials and little chatter. If I was inclined to listen to more radio I might be converted. But I don't find much lacking in my area that I am tempted. And as I said, I have had the opportunity to have access for a few days at a time in rental cars (minus the boombox option of course). But it would just drive me nuts every time a light listening month went by and I realized I just paid an average of a couple bucks an hour for listening to the radio. Glad you and others enjoy it though. Hopefully someday there will be some downward price pressure and they'll be forced to offer a lifetime pass for $100 or the like.

Believe me - I had the same concerns.

Except for my 20 minute commutes each way, I hadn't listened to local radio for years. I wouldn't listen at work and I listened to CDs at home and in the car on longer trips. Now I never to my CDs.

Sirius made me want to turn on the radio. I listen to it an average of 4-5 hours per day (at work) during the week.

Welcome to the club. Over the years I went from more of a stern fan to an o and a, but I still like both. I can't stand the whole argument that you can only like stern or o and a. It's almost the same thing that people do with matrix vs Star Wars vs LOTR or XBox vs ps2 vs gamecube. Guess what? I happen to own all and love everyone of those things. To me, Opie and Anthony are better at pop culture, while I happen to like Stern's take on politics and religion.

P.S. I also like both The Stones and The Beatles, as well as Frank Sinatra and The King.

lol, I actually like Freddie Mercury too, but I think you know about the real King that I'm talking about. He has many impersonators in Vegas and many believe he's not dead.

If Stern does go the VOD route, I'd wager that he'd offer both free and pay content. I can see him producing another E! type show that is available free of charge, leaving the uncensored content (like the stuff he currently has as pay-per-download from his website) available for a small fee. If you think about it, those downloadable videos were probably just a test to see if there was a demand for this kind of thing, which there obviously was. Pretty smart if you ask me.

I love Stern - buy Sirius stock before Januray and watch it rise!

I wonder if Dish Network will broadcast the Stern Show along w/ all the other Sirius Stations I get as part of my Dish Network Subscription.

I have been listening to Sirius Alt Nation Channel 6020 and I must say that the playlists are definitely longer than on FM Radio - but if you listen for a few hours one day, the next day you will still hear the same songs repeat. I also get annoyed by the completely POINTLESS DJ babble that they play between the songs. Station indentifiers and listener call ins are completely pointless. I find myself getting annoyed and switching to one of Dish's CD stations which have not interuptions.

You sunk my Pat Battleship.

There is more at the link

http://www.marksfriggin.com/news05/6-27.htm#fri3

Howard asked KC to explain why he left the show. KC said he was fired, he didn't leave. He said that he didn't want to leave. Howard said that he had many reasons for being fired. KC said that's true and he takes full responsibility for that. He apologized to Howard for having a mental breakdown and blowing the job. KC said he really appreciates what Howard did for him. Tom came in and said that he hopes that KC is in a good place. KC said he was glad to hear from Tom now... That led to Gary saying that he thinks that KC was kind of upset that he was fired over the phone. Tom said that he loves KC and no one bent over backwards more for him than Howard. There were some circumstances that were out of their control and Tom had to take action and did have to fire him over the phone. Howard said that Tom did go to his apartment at one point and KC said that wasn't necessary.

KC said that over the past few years he was an alcoholic and a drug addict and hid that the whole time. He said that he was able to hide it and he was on ''everything.'' Howard said they didn't think that was true because he was working out all the time. KC said that his demons beat him and he lost a great thing with that job. Gary said that there's one drug that he may have taken to get super high and that was Ridilin. KC said he took that. Artie said he never took that. KC said he never used heroin but he didn't want to get specific.

Artie brought up the intervention that he went to with KC. He said he thought that was pretty funny because he was a drinker himself. Artie said some of his friends called and told him that they were doing an intervention. They went over to KC's house and they waited for him to show up. Artie said he's been on both sides of an intervention and the strangest thing was that KC was coming home from the gym while they were waiting. He said that KC looks like the cover of GQ and he's telling KC that he's out of control. Howard told KC that Artie isn't drinking now but it sounded like he may not have known about it. Artie said that he saw KC last month and he was looking good.

I heard hikm taking about it this AM. Oh well. Seems like I will be done with Stern come January. I have Dish Network.

He is going to alieanate a TON of fans. If he at LEAST did a HBO/Showtime/Etc show instead of Ondemand, he could hold on to his audience.

Money talks though!

Yeah, that is a real shame for people who have any Satellite system. I luckily have Brighthouse so it sounds like I should be ok. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

My guess is that newsgroups and bittorrent will be overflowing with both the Sirius and PPV files from day one.

Yep the Howard Stern Binary group already carries the show, just invest in a good news reader and you won't miss a show!

I wonder if In-demand will be able to make some sort of deal with the Dish companies to show his show there, they are greedy, I am sure they would like another revenue stream.

I missed the anouncement this morning

I get the idea that he is going to payperview? is this a weekly show or - will he charge $5 for each show?

Is this crap on Cablevision - I went to the site but it didn't list what "indemand" was or how to watch it.

Thanks

my friend called me at 8 am (I was asleep) to tell me that Richard Christy was about to play the "Hot For Teacher" drum intro on a full kit. I don't listen to Stern but wish I did just for the Richard Christy drumming parts. Anyone hear it this morning?

Richard did a great job playing those ass cheeks! You would have thought he was playing on real drums.

Sounded good...had double "kick mallets" on the bass pedal and used the floor tom a lot. Fred played guitar and Sal played bass. (No timing from Sal.) They had ta kill time while waiting for Johnny Knoxville. (Gary said 7:30, publisist said 8:30) I missed his interview.

Nice ta hear the announcement this AM! I have Sirius and didn't watch E much, but i may have ta check some of these out come January. Hope it works out for him.
