Overall, I'd like to see Suzie win the whole thing. I think Marty and Jordis are both very good, but they would both do better with a different 'sound' than that of the band, INXS. I like what I've heard of Suzie singing INXS.

My ranking from best to worst:
Suzie was bang-on tonight, didn't give a hint of struggling with any parts of the song.
Jordis was good in imparting her melodic voice to an all-timer, though I think she smiles a little too much throughout her performances.
Marty channelled emotion into a performance that was stripped to its bare essence, and paid off with inhabiting a frame of mind that did the song justice.
MiG was manic tonight, and I don't like how high his voice got in certain spots in this song, but a fun performer, nonetheless.
Ty was good, but the song didn't quite connect with me, which made it less memorable.
JD was pretty bland and might get shown the door because I think he'll get a chance to sing an INXS song, and that might be enough for INXS to give him the heave-ho this week.

I may be the only one, but I thought the choir was pretty awful... almost to the point of distraction. They were at times out of sync with other, at times it sounded like some of them were trying to "outsing" the others, and at other times it sounded like they were shouting the lyrics instead of singing them. They did a good job with Suzie, though.
As for the performers, Ty was typical Ty. Not bad, but at this point not enough.
JD gave a great stage performance, but vocally it wasn't THAT far removed from an Elvis impersonation.
Marty impressed me tonight, showing a lot of range.
Mig is just kind of blah to me. He's never really wowed me, although he's never completely bombed, either. I get a distinct Monkees/Partridge Family/Bay City Rollers vibe from the guy.
Great comeback for Jordis. Unfortunately I think she's probably the worst fit for the band INXS at this point. But I'd definitely be interested to hear what she comes up with after the competition (if she doesn't win).
Suzie... thought it was a terrible move when she picked it but dang. She pulled it off in a big way. There were a handful of weird parts in there, but that is to be expected considering the huge range of the song.

Hearing Suzie's studio work again makes me think she'll click with the band without machinations or sleeping on the job. Really none of the guys have what Michael Hutchence had so instead of embarrasing themselves why not get a female who does have a little of his "something."
Anyway, JD's still creepy, Jordis is in another time zone and Marty may not be worth the trouble. Mig's voice is still too high yet he couldn't hit the "hell" part of "Live and Let Die." Weird. Ty's a pain in the ass--talented but a total shoulder shrugger, can't think of a damned thing he'd get from INXS and vice versa...
Also even though I don't think Jordis is a perfect match for INXS (she's certainly worth further stuff) she is just so cute. Liked seeing her parents out there...

JD does nothing for me, never has once this season.
Mig was just yelling and singing whatever came to his mind throughout the song. He won't go home though since he's the ringer.
Marty was good and I really liked how he sang that song.
Jordis was awesome. Hopefully this means she's back.
Suzie was great. I'm not going to say she sang that song perfectly, but she had a confidence that no one has had throughout this entire season. Like she's been doing that song for years. I got chills during this song, only other time was when Jordis sang Heart Shaped Box. And yes, I realize the band and the strings nad choir certainly made this better than it was, but overall the song was just awesome.
Ty will be heading home this week, only because I think they keep JD on for the show.

This probably won't go over well with all you jordis lovers, but honestly, I think that the first time she's in the bottom three, she's gone. The band had SERIOUS problems with her melody variations (and she does it for EVERYTHING), and she's probably the only one left who does NOT really want to be in INXS (and they know it). Once she sings an INXS song, it will be apparent she's not right for the band, quickly.
I'm not saying she's not good. She's a very good singer. But this isn't her genre and she needs to realize that sometimes the simple melody is the best one, or people en masse won't be able to connect with her.
I am also surprised how much you all like Marty. Again, he's a very good singer, but his statuesque / angry conductor thing goes from disturbing to scary. Every notice how when he smiles it looks forced? I wonder if he has the ability to be geniunely happy and have fun. Marty will probably be in the bottom three again this week.
I'm certain that Ty and Marty will be in the bottom three, but the other is a real toss up.
Personally, I do hope that Jordis, JD and Marty do NOT win, because I'd like to hear them do their own thing, in their element, which I think will be 1000x better than ANYTHING they'd do with INXS.

Last night I think Suzi seperated herself from the others a little bit, she was fantastic. Marty and Jordis were very good as well. Ty had to much R&B, Mig was just bland and I thought JD stunk up the place.
Suzi's performance last night on the heels of a strong showing in the studio, I think puts her at the top of INXS's list for now. Assuming this isn't fixed.

I only started watching this about 4 weeks ago, but let me say, I HATE Mig. I have yet to see a performance of his I care for, and this week I thought he was terrible. I hate Ty, he needs to go back to doing Broadway or go to a Vegas lounge. Marty needs to stick to his Incubus cover band, he sings everything angry and he is extremely creepy looking.
And I would love to see JD in the bottom 3, he KILLS Inxs songs better than anyone else on the show.

My thoughts on last night:
Ty - didn't like his performance. He just doesn't do it for me.
Mig - A bit disappointed, but he'll be in the final two, no doubt.
Suzy - Loved it. Great job.
Marty - Finally he was able to sing without anger. Sounded good.
Jordis - A lot better than last week, but not up to the high standard she has set previously.
JD - Didn't like his version of Suspicious Minds.
Suzy blew everyone away last night, IMO. Who was in the bottom three? I skipped over it this morning.
The choir was laughingly bad. I think that someone pulled a joke on the producers of Rock Star. There is no way that this is what one would consider a good choir. If you actually listened to when they were singing, they were horrible. They actually took away from the songs that they participated in (almost all of them I think).

I thought Marty showed rare control over his voice. He seemed like he was trying to not scream some of the lines, but he pulled it off. Actually, I thought all of the performances were good. Definitely about personal preferences at this point. I just don't like Ty's style, JD is just such a poser (but he can sing and I think he's shown his creativity), MiG is incredibly likeable, Suzie is nothing if not consistent and Jordis has a unique voice that, when in top form, really outshines the others. Again, though, she is NOT what INXS is looking for.

I really thought Suzi would blow, but she did a good job. However, I did not completely buy her performace. She looked a little deer in the headlightish or something.

My perspective has changed quite a bit since day one. Suzie is kickin' it. I think she is the odds on favorite right now with good reason. Her voice is simply fantastic and we've seen her really grasp what INXS wants... what INXS is. I wouldn't have thought this in the first couple of weeks. And Marty is so much better when he just backs off a bit. I think this thing is between Marty and Suzie. Of course, who will change and then make me change my opinion again?
Jordis, while a great singer, isn't showing she is fit for a band like this. At least I haven't seen it yet.
JD just sucks. I think the only person on this show that I haven't changed opinions on is him. I know I say it every week, but he just oozes Velveta out of his pores. Not the light or lower calorie variety either. I can't believe anyone over 14 would take him seriously.
Mig and Ty... okay. Not great. I wish Mig was better because he seems like such a nice guy.

I guess I saw his one only performance, and he has done the best job of an Inxs song I have seen since watching the show. I should have said song.

when they showed shots of the choir, they were holding microphones. Most choirs have elevated microphones that gather the whole sound. However, only a few people were holding mikes, so they (and those immediately around them) were drowning out the rest.
Also, i think suzie's done very well with INXS songs, and that Marty did really well with "Don't Change".
If INXS is serious about picking a woman, suzie is the front-runner.

rkndkn, what about Jordis causes you to HATE, HATE, HATE her? I'm just curious. While I find JD laughable, I don't think I would say I HATE, HATE, HATE him. It's interesting to see what people prefer and why. Thanks for your observations.

I also admit that as a J.D. fan, it's a little hard to like Jordis. The show's editing has certainly played those 2 against each other. I think she and Marty seemed to gang up against J.D. during the group songwriting challenge. And she looked mighty pleased when he messed up "We are the Champions". I found it strange that last night was the first time she actually stated her interest in fronting INXS. I still don't sense a genuine desire or passion from her about INXS as I do from J.D. or MiG.

Honestly, I thought everyone did a great job and really brought their best effort for a change. I loved the song choices and the huge production.
Ty - Sounded excellent as always
JD - I thought this was his best performance. He updated the song a bit, and still was willing to throw in a couple nods to Elvis.
Marty - Definitely his best vocal performance, and he just let his backup do the rest.
Jordis - Finally she sang like she knew what the lyrics were about and put some feeling into it.
Mig - I think I was the most surprised by him. He went crazy! He had me cracking up at the heavy metal screams, and really impressed me with the rest of it. I came away thinking he could've pulled off Bohemian Rhapsody.
Suzie - She actually did pull off Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen used to leave the stage for the opera section and just played the record until the big guitar riff.
I don't really care who is in the bottom three tonight. I am just thoroughly enjoying this show.

Ty - What really kills Ty is his horridly cheesly stage moves and his annoying facial mannerisms. But in fairness, If I where listing to this show on the radio, rather than watching on TV, He might be my favorite. For the most part he always does a good job singing the songs.
Mig - I really wish Mig was better, because he seems like a pretty cool guy that could gel with bandmates. But I think he is vocally the worst singer on the show and his performance this week was downright ghastly.
Suzy - Gets better every week and seems to have a solid range of vocals. I can see her doing the grittier rocking songs as well as the smoother power ballads. At the moment I think she would be the best fit for the band INXS.
Marty - Marty is my favorite singer on the show, but probably not the best fit for INXS, Yet he does seem to follow advice and make an effort to give INXS what they want to see.
Jordis - I don't know what the hell happened to her, but in the last 4 weeks, she seems to have lost her soul. She takes songs about heartbreak, despair, remorse and yearning, and make them all sound cuter than a box of kittens.
JD - A total asshat and a very forced performer. This is Rockstar INXS, yet with the cheesy hats, the crewcut and the dopey tanktops, he looks like he is auditioning for the spot of the new manbander in N'Synch.

who do you want to download?
Although I like Suzie, JD, and TY, I don't find myself willing to purchase their songs. I'm making a compilation rock star CD and I consistantly download Jordis and Marty the most. I never download Suzie although she probably has the "best" range and pitch (and Marty has the worst), I am just drawn to the voices of Jordis and Marty. Mig I love, but I think he's better for Broadway.
