This is what I remember as far as the original cast in the reboot...
Kelly had a kid with Dylan who was never around, her mother died, she was a teacher.
Donna & David got divorced (I think).
I don't remember anything happening with Brenda.

and Brenda returned to West Beverly to be the director of the school play.
Donna was indeed divorced from David.
All these guys appeared in the 1st season because they felt they needed to make 90210 cannon with the original series & have some tie-in to bring in familiar faces. After that, they were all dropped for future seasons.
I read that Luke Perry's contract with Riverdale prohibits him from working on other shows full-time. So he could only guest star occasionally. Plus, Riverdale is shot in Canada.
Also, Jason Priestley has a show in Canada as well called "Private Eyes" and that's still airing. But, I guess he could do both and work around that show's schedule.

Not afraid to admit I am a huge fan of the show. I started watching it around season 2 or 3 & watched it all throughout high school. When the finale premiered in 2000 I actually took off work to watch it lol (I was 23 & did telemarketing in the evening). Obviously not the best, but it is my favorite TV show & every once in awhile I'll watch the entire series.
I wasn't a fan of the reboot & just watched for the original cast cameos. I haven't watched any of the episodes since they originally aired but by what I remember it was completely pointless to mention their divorce in the reboot as there was no story involved & it took away from the original's finale which centered around their wedding & was the perfect way to end the show. In my mind David & Donna lived happily ever after!
There are only a few things that I really got psyched & pumped up for like the release of Rocky Balboa, Gn'R's Chinese Democracy, the Sopranos finale....
This would top them all!

This new "series" is actually a Mokumentary series. They will be playing themselves:
According to sources, the untitled project is an hour-long mockumentary-style dramedy that would find former 90210 cast members Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris playing themselves — albeit in a somewhat heightened state. The potential series — which was first rumored last March — would chronicle the gang’s efforts to get (another) 90210 revival off the ground.

I still don't know about this. The Mokumentary angle sounds stupid. I'll be curious on who picks this up. I would rather it be about these characters and their lives during middle age.

It’s official — Fox has closed a deal for the new series reuniting original Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. Titled 90210, the show, from CBS TV Studios, has received a six-episode order to air this summer.
Fox, which aired the original Beverly Hills, 90210 series, had emerged as the frontrunner for the new 90210, which was taken out in December. The broadcast network was described as being “the most passionate” about the project, a serialized drama – with a dose of irreverence — inspired by the sextet’s real lives and relationships, in which Priestley, Garth, Ziering, Carteris, Green and Spelling will play heightened versions of themselves.
“Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.”
Last month, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told Deadline that 90210 and Melrose Place are among his favorite Fox series of all time and pieces of IP he would like to explore at the network.
In the new series, having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast – whom the whole world watched grow up together – attempts to continue from where they left off?
The series was conceived by Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot and on Spelling’s series So Notorious, along with with Spelling and Garth.
Alberghini and Chessler will write the series. They executive produce with Carteris, Garth, Green, Priestley, Spelling and Ziering. CBS TV Studios-based Ghen Maynard, who has a relationship with Spelling and Garth, developed the project.
Beverly Hills, 90210 premiered on Fox on October 4, 1990, when it became an instant pop culture sensation and one of the most popular programs in the network’s history. Centered on the tony Los Angeles community identified in its title, the show aired for 10 seasons, during which it documented the trials and tribulations of a group of friends from high school to college and into early adulthood, as they navigate a myriad of coming-of-age dramas and complex rivalries.
Coincidentally, 90210 alumna Tori Spelling is one of the celebrities on Fox’s breakout reality competition The Masked Singer.
“It’s not technically a reboot, because I feel like everyone has seen the reboot. We don’t want to be the last ones like doing the reboot thing, and no one wants to see like old versions of ourselves, but they do want to see us playing our characters, so what we’re doing is the entire cast is playing heightened versions of themselves,” Spelling said of 90210 in one of the interviews after her exit from The Masked Singer. “Think Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes, in an hourlong show, and we’re all playing heightened versions, so it could be fictional, it could be non-fictional, people will have to guess. And then we will have pop-ins, because we’re behind the scenes trying to do the reboot.”

Since it's a summer show and only 6 episodes, I might give it a try. But, I'm still not enthusiastic about the concept.
Probably took FOX less than 30 minutes to make that 10 second teaser. Stock footage, 90210 graphics and old music.

Tori Spelling as a "heightened version of herself" is all I had to read to keep me far away.

They gave her an Executive Producer credit, which means she'll probably earn more than most of the returning cast. Of course she'll return.

I'll check it out, but I'm still not really keen on it being a scripted reality show with them playing themselves.
That promo looks like it was from the 1st table read, so it's definitely scripted.

Re: Beverly Hills 90210 talk
There is drama behind the scenes of Fox’s upcoming “Beverly Hills 90210” revival that is worthy of — well, “Beverly Hills 90210.”
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers have quit the six-episode series, which is titled “BH90210.” The exact reason for the exodus is unclear. One source said the dispute was over interference from two of the show’s lead actresses, while another noted that the writers were unhappy with one of the executives overseeing the project.
Paul Sciarrotta has been named the new showrunner along with series’ creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler. Sciarrotta, a member of the show’s writing staff, is currently under an overall deal with CBS Television Studios, which is producing the series.
“BH90210” is set to debut on Fox on Aug. 7. Original series cast members Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling will all return. In the series, the actors will not be playing their characters from the show, but rather heightened versions of themselves. Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a “Beverly Hills, 90210” reboot up and running.

A reality version probably explains why it is premiering in the Summer and not in the Fall.

That sounds like the ep where they recreated Real World one ep in college. Horrible. A serialized drama I would have checked out. This reeks of desperation and money grab. Nothing I would be interested in...

I'll watch for pure nostalgia but I'm sure it's a one and done thing. They should have treated this like a serialized show from back in the day; it would have had somewhat of a chance. Actually, no.. it probably has no chance either way.

All of these go by with everyone wanting a reunion and this was the best they could come up with? Playing themselves? Terrible idea.
