I didn't care for the way they ended the season finale either, too neat and tidy for my taste. Oh almost forgot about the bad wolf explanation, weak.

But it has been picked up through season three, I am interested to see how the show does with a new Doctor, rather liked Christopher Eccleston's portrayal, wish he would have stuck around longer.

Agreed, far too "Deus Ex Machina" in the finale. It was pretty cool how the Daleks were able to secretly rebuild, however.

This must be the first regeneration where the Doctor explains what's happening and what's going to happen.

Looking forward to the Christmas "invasion".

was in the Sun newspaper here today that they are in talks with one of the old sidekicks with a view to getting them in the next series. I'm almost sure it was Sarah Jane. (Paper has been thrown now so can't check).
Oh - and K9 is making a return!

One can only hope. I mean, why wouldnt the Doctor visit old companions? Can anyone confirm this or is it just a rumor? I'd love to see Sarah Jane again!
K-9, I dont know about.

I'm a little surprised The Doctor or Rose didn't at least check on Captain Jack's condition before taking off.

K-9, I dont know about.

My bets are on Sarah Jane. Since K-9 is returning...there are three possible companions who can return with him.

K-9 Mark I is with Leela (Tho they were both left on Gallifrey so they might not be
Spoiler:
alive
anymore).

K-9 Mark II is with Romana in E-Space (unless you count the novels and Big Finish audios as canon. Romana became President of Gallifrey and as with Leela, she might not be
Spoiler:
alive
either).

The Doctor sent K-9 Mark III to Sarah Jane on Earth. And with that, we could have a winner.

No doubt that was intended for all the younger viewers who'd never encountered the concept of regeneration before. A nice elegant way of handling it I thought. Made for a nice tear-jerker of a goodbye for the 9th Doc.

And I do hope the K-9 story is more than just a rumor. I'd love to see him again. Hey, they're selling it as a kids show right? Can't get any more kid-friendly than good ol' K-9!

Seeing Sarah Jane would be nice too. No doubt still doing her reporter gig.

i just read in a english t.v guide that to replace the daleks in season two (or three im not sure) they are bringing back the cybbermen, i never saw the cybermen in the old episoedes so are they just another kind of robot or are they something a little different. because the daleks are a lot like the borg from star trek. so will the cybermen be something more like stargates replicators ,only human looking?

The Cybermen are actually much like the Daleks, only with human forms, and less xenophobia. Where the Daleks are the result of genetic manipulation and housed inside robot bodies, the Cybermen were once humans who mastered robotics and slowly made themselves cyborgs, more machine than man. They are also more Borg-like than the Daleks in that they regularly "recruit" humans to be transformed into Cybermen. The Daleks have been known to make human slave-robots, but they were merely slaves to the superior Daleks.

Classic series spoiler:
Spoiler:
Another thing the Cybermen and Daleks have in common is that The Doctor destroyed both their home worlds. In the last season of the original TV series The Doctor went on the offensive with many of his old enemies. In "Silver Nemesis" he tricked the Cybermen into launching a doomsday weapon, which he had preprogrammed to destroy their home world instead of earth.

Earlier this season, the Doctor spied a Cyberman head as part of the big alien collection in "Dalek."

Got no problem with the Daleks taking a break for awhile. I'd rather see some of the other Who aliens get a chance in the spotlight.

Both Jo and Sarah Jane have been showing up a lot in those Dr. Who Confidentials to bring in some classic series memories. Either look like they could still handle doing a weekly series (Sarah Jane much moreso, however).

You're right. I had that detail confused with Remembrance of the Daleks.

Well, I just watched The Parting of the Ways and enjoyed it for the most part. The epic feel of the episode more than smoothed out any of the "bumpy" parts of the story. The "revelations" were a bit of a let down but I did love the way things tied together throughout the season.

The Bad Wolf explanation was a bit too
Spoiler:
V: The Final Battle
for me but what the hell, I still teared up at the end.

I count the days til Christmas.

I've enjoyed the series, but the last episode was a big letdown for me--the Bad Wolf explaination was underwhelming, the Deus Ex Machina ending was lazy, and the final disappointment (though expected) of the regeneration.

Speaking of which, it seems like they have been throwing them away lately--Paul McGann used up one with that dreadful TV movie, and Eccleston gets one season? Of course, I might be biased as I was a big Sylvester McCoy fan and was sad to see him go out so quickly.

A solid from me for the Eccelson series; Wish he'd stuck around for another. And I hope the next doctor has as much charm. We need some stability, damnit. I'm tired of going thru new doctors so quickly. I haven't even seen 1 or 2 of the latter ones; they came and went while the show wasn't being shown in my area.

Katy Manny looks like she is about 70 so I doubt she could handle a weekly series. Elisabeth Sladen looks great.

I finally get to see the finale tonight. I can't wait!

Eccleston is a tough act to follow.

David Tennant in his new outfit. What do you all think? I think he has a nice combination of style and "Doctorish" eccentricity.

I sorta miss the days where you could easily pick the Doctor (in his costume) out of a crowd.

To be fair, that's something that only really started with Tom Baker.

Personally, I'm glad the days of the cricket outfit, the multicolored coat, and the question mark sweater are behind us.

I'm not so sure of that. None of the first three doctors really strike me as clothing reflective of the times they come from.

(Yeah, it's a "Five Doctors" picture. But, they're each in the clothing we expect of them.)

Bah, who cares. We'll all be looking at Rose's cleavage anyway.

As much as I love Tom Baker's rendition the dress is pure 80's. Eccelston's dress was just fine.
