Simon looks like he's trapped at a bad Thanksgiving Dinner having to sit next to Drunk Aunt Paula. He has to control himself to not roll his eyes.
Glad to see Bo back in action, he needed this performance in the worst way, and took a solid page out of the Fantasia Handbook. I think his copy of the song list had vehicle in Bold Font to make sure that he did not miss the Producers Gift. They want him in this mix awhile longer.
Keep thinking Scott will go, but he is bulletproof. Is it Federov's time?

On the flip-side....Scott did not impress me at all, but he has been good the past couple weeks. I don't think he should have made the top 12, but these last couple weeks he has held his own.
Bo's song shouldn't have been included in the choices. Horns don't make a song a "dance" song.
Bottom 3

I hope it's a half hour show. Even skipping thru on "Tivo" is getting hard...

This is my first time watching the show in it's entirety. Based on all the performances I've seen, the one that stands out the most for me was Anwar's performance of "What a Wonderful World". Following closely is Carrie Underwood's "Alone".
I think Anthony got lucky this week, because this is his genre. He's got some stage moves that compliment the theme. (However his song choice was ugly, imo.)
I've liked Vonzell from the very beginning, but it annoyed me slightly that she had to have yet another Whitney Houston song (I know it was Chaka Khan originally, but still....it's connected to Whitney). And I'm just a tad bit OD'd on the Whitney stuff (no, not the stuff that she takes, just listening to her music). :P
To be honest, nobody really wowed me.
I keep waiting for Bo's magic to return (or has it just permanently worn off or got old)?
I keep waiting for Anwar to reach the pinnacle that was "What A Wonderful World" once more.
I keep waiting for Carrie to let the music possess her like it did with "Alone" and not sing something that she has no feeling for. (However, since I'm not big on country, I do like that she's been opting to not sing country when given a chance. Like the week before.)
I keep waiting for Anthony to get voted off. I have nothing personal against him. He's a likeable guy, and I hope he gets a record deal for his fans. I just don't think he's as good "toe-to-toe" with the others.
I keep waiting for Vonzell to surpass Carrie as the odds-on favorite. I like Carrie, but it just seems like Vonzell brings more energy and stage presence to her music. Vonzell's got a damn good voice, even if she's "pitchy...had some pitch problems" at times, like Randy says.
I keep waiting for Constantine to look stupid on stage, since it's becoming more clear to me that he thinks he's the cat's meow when he's up there. I'll have to give it up for him, though. He IS a great performer. Vocals are another story. He doesn't have a bad voice. (All of them can sing better than me, so I don't want to be a pot calling 'em out.) But he's over-rated and I think he's just getting votes on his looks/sex appeal. (<---ech)
And as for Scott... I'm not sure about him. I liked Nikko over him, and they both use a bit of vibrato when they sing. I don't think Scott warrants all the bad comments he gets on this board, based on his vocals. But, I can't blame anyone if they don't like his personality. Afterall, that's part of the game too.
These are my bottom 3:
*Anthony (boring song)
*Anwar (sadly. he's my favorite, and although it wasn't a bad job, i think he didn't connect when he needed to this week. there's no more nadia, so who else is going to be in the bottom 3?)
*Bo (one may think that more people will vote for him this week, because they had a scare when he was in the bottom 3 last week. but i think people just may tire of him. those that supported bo might be supporting constantine now? not sure, but maybe.)
Who should be in the bottom 3:
*Anthony
*Scott
The last one is tough.

As for Paula getting dissed. I agree on the commentary part. (And the whatever the hell she's on part, but I think her personality has always been that way. I remember interviews back in "the day", when she had all those hit singles. She always seemed like she was drowsy. I think it's just how she is.) She offers not much by way of constructive criticism. (Although, you can tell when someone really stunk. Paula won't have anything to say, like she did with Nadia think. She complimented her dress intead.)
But, as for the dancing and getting into it complaints, I actually like that she does that. Why the hell not? AI judges don't have to be impartial, as we've seen with Simon's comments. She's just one of the people that like to have a good time with the music.

Once, just once, after Paula does one of her drug-induced happy rants, I'd love to see Simon turn to his right and start off with "Paula, you ignorant slut...."

Anwar's performance was perhaps the GAYEST thing on TV since OZ ended.

I've said the last two weeks that Vonzell is the person to beat ... but I'm not thrilled with any of these contestants.

I think Scott's fan base is actually the Anti-Idol. Those people who watch the show who are tired of the harmless, vanilla, cookie cutter Clay Aiken, Justin Guarini, somebody-wake-me-up-and-tell-me-my-countrymen-didn't-really-make-them-famous-even-if-only-for-fouteen-minutes, high school talent show performers. I don't think Scott is all that good myself, though I like him a whole lot better than Anthony "My Idols are Clay and Justin" Federov, whose fanbase is said target demographic.
I don't think Carrie should go home tonight but I do think it's ridiculous for her not to have known ONE '70's dance song. Come on now. I've lived in NYC my whole life. We don't play alot of country music in my Bronx neighborhood. I swear I can name some country songs and tell you what they are about though. And if I couldn't I sure as shit would learn before I had to sing one on live television.
And just 'cause this time someone other than me brought it up; I HATE PAULA. She wants to dance around, fine. But she sounds like me talking about Survivor Stephenie when reviewing any contestant, and that's not good for a judge. So far I think she's put all the remaining contestants in the final 2. That's just not good math.

Not saying you think this way, but hopefully this isn't a factor on why one shouldn't vote for him.

I REALLY dislike Scott, but his performance last night was good. I just don't think anyone that has domestic battery charges should be held up as an "IDOL" no matter how good they are (and his talent does NOT offset the charge). Oh yeah, and Scott, YOU'RE NOT BLACK.
Bo should have been ripped apart for doing a non-dance song on dance song night. Vehicle has NOTHING to do with dance and, forever mentioned that they added horns to "dancify" it, that was the original arrangement pretty much note-for-note. Gee, could it be the producers REALLY want Bo in it, so they let him stretch the themes to the point of breaking?
I'd like to see Scott go, but I'd have to choose Anwar after last night. He's been weak for weeks and I think that his first chorus on September was the worst point of the night (going to a lower key instead of trying the upper one). It sounded like amateur night.

I just started tuning into this show again after watching pretty religiously the last two seasons.
You're telling me that *THESE* are the seven best they could find out of tens of thousands?

You've got to be kidding.Everybody rags on Paula and Randy (which in most cases is fully justified) but I think people here give Simon too much respect. He is every bit as repetitive as the other two and his comments are equally useless. I mean I can almost guess what he is going to say. What is the difference between a kareoke singer, a cruise ship singer, a Las Vegas review singer, a bar singer, etc.? Has he ever gotten through a show without referring to at least one of the contestants that way? How useful is that? Do they (including Simon) ever give the contestants any worthwhile critique that will help them improve?

The only thing that changes is that some get more comfortable on the stage, or more confident from their showing from last week.

At least he's avoided making fun of Scott for being fat. I wish he'd make fun of him for being a wannabe gangsta. It just doesn't gel with the adult contemporary ballads he's singing a lot of the time.

Ok, so I'm not an Anwar fan by any means. I find him very boring and the nasal sound doesn't do it for me....
But my God in heaven, who in the world thinks that Anthony Federov is a better singer than him???

Wow. Didn't see that coming.
I had a feeling they'd hold Bo off for last, since he was probably the best bet to be safe. Kind of shitty to try to make him choose which group was safe and which group was bottom 3, but not as shitty as the fake-out Ryan gave Anwar. That was cold.
I don't think Anwar was the best, but no way did he deserve to go before Scott or Fed.

During the group number, I thought it looked kind of fake the way they had a few of the Idols playing instruments (Bo and Carrie on guitar, Anwar on keyboards). I told my husband it looked like the "Ex-Presidents" cartoon on SNL. They should have given Federov a tambourine to play.

Anwar gone. Wow. I've to agree about not hitting the high notes last night: that was a terrible mistake. Hopefully Scott will go next week: like his voice, hate his fake attitude.
