Every performance Anthony has done has essentially been equivalent to hearing a karaoke version of "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight." All he does are sappy torch ballads. At least Mikalah's mugging was so pathetic it was funny. Anthony is just pathetic.

Oh man! WOW! Federov has been very pitchy throughout the competition (not as bad this week though) and has been off key on some of his songs as well. His voice is not bad but his pitch problems kill him. I would never say Mikalah was better than him but I will say they are both awful.

I just heard a news promo about Paula being accused of having sex with one of the idol contestants. Has anyone heard any info?

Has Paula Abdul been judging more than the singing talents of the hopefuls on “American Idol”?

Corey Clark, a 24-year-old former contestant, is claiming that he had a “secret affair” with the 42-year-old judge from the hit show, according to the new issue of Globe magazine. Clarke reportedly is claiming that he had sex with Abdul in the guest room of her house, that she paid some of his expenses and promised to fund his career to the tune of $2 million, and that she made him vow to keep their relationship a secret. The allegations are reportedly from a book proposal that Clark has been shopping to publishers.

“[Abdul] told [Clark] she wanted to look out for him and be his ‘special friend,’” according to the Globe article. “But he claims she warned him that he couldn’t tell anyone or she’d make things very hard for him, cautioning, ‘Don’t screw me or you’ll be sorry.’” The proposal apparently also describes how Abdul once came up behind Clark, rubbed his neck, and then they began “kissing passionately and feeling each other up” as they moved to the guest bedroom.

Clark got booted from the show after it was revealed that he faced charges of assaulting his teenage sister and clashing with police while resisting arrest.

The article also says that Clark was told that another "American Idol" contestant, Justin Guarini, "bragged about having an affair with Paula." Guarini's rep denies there was any affair.

Abdul’s spokesperson couldn't be reached for comment, but the Globe article says that Abdul “disputes the allegations contained in the book proposal.”

Separately, ABC is reportedly working on a “potentially explosive exposé” on “American Idol,” possibly about “the relationship between ‘Idol’ judges and contestants,” according to Variety magazine.

'Idol' Finalist's Band Gets Record Deal

NEW YORK - The band of "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis will release their first CD on May 10, recorded before the singer's fame skyrocketed on the TV talent show.

Koch Records, the label that signed "Idol" failure William Hung, has announced a deal with Pray for the Soul of Betty, the New York band Maroulis fronted before auditioning for the Fox reality program.

Maroulis signed over the rights to his bandmates before joining "Idol," so the self-titled album isn't owned by the show, a publicist for "American Idol" confirmed Friday.

The long-haired rocker is one of six remaining in the contest, where he has emerged as a heartthrob candidate for young girls. Earlier in the season, the show documented Maroulis informing the band of his "Idol" intentions. Though some members then seemed upset about the more mainstream direction, they are now quite happy for the publicity.

"The reason why he's doing `American Idol' is for the band, not for anything else," drummer Hamboussi told The Associated Press Friday, adding that Maroulis and the band remain tight.

"(On `American Idol') he doesn't get the bass drum or the guitar hitting him in the back of the head," Hamboussi said.

Giovanna Melchiorre, a spokeswoman for Koch, said that while Maroulis won't be able to tour with the band, "Legally, I think we're OK."

The record company said Pray for the Soul of Betty draws influences from Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age, and "sounds distinctively like a New York City band should sound: intense, raw and powerful."

What's the difference between "pitchy" and "off key"? You talk like they are two different things and Federov is both. If by some of the songs being "off key" you mean the entire song was sung in the wrong key I can say absolutely that you are wrong. No opinion there. Anyway, if he is either, the judges haven't picked up on it - not that they can tell.

It's odd. Last year people seemed to be in general agreement about which contestants were "pitchy" and when. There was also general agreement about which contestants were good and which weren't (aside from the polarizing Fantasia). This year I am befuddled. Most threads include many posts referring to the same contestant with diametrically opposing viewpoints on how they performed.

"Pray for the Soul of Betty" -- isn't that about the most cliched emo-bandname imaginable?

I might buy it out of curiosity.
