I think Constantine cannibalized the Bo votes. The Bo supporters will be back in full force next week though, no way will he be in the bottom 3 next week.

Agreed. Performers tend to bounce in and out of the bottom 3 every other week, as their supporters "rally" when they are in the bottom 3, and relax when they aren't. Then there's the performers who are consistantly in the bottom 3, but somehow manage to keep squeaking by (Scott this year, Red last year).

Nadia also had a bit of rocker "flavor", so I wouldn't be surprised to see some of her fans migrate to Bo.

Maybe, nothing. When Fantasia was on last week she told them that everyone in the final 12 from last year got a record deal. As for him being a sell out, I'm pretty sure he's in a cover band, just going by his 70's fashion sense. That's already selling out in a small sense. Who cares?

My favorite 'sell-out' quote:

"Do we sell-out? Damn right, we do. Metallica sells out every single show."

That's a pretty cool website - thanks for posting it. I didn't realize the Kimberley Locke (who came in 3rd) was in the bottom 3 early on, when Vanessa was voted off.
Clay was never in the bottom 3. Ruben was in the bottom 3 on one of the last shows. That is why I still cannot believe that Ruben won. There is still some dought in my mind that the voting was fixed.

But why? Why fix the voting so the less popular guy wins? Rule #1 of conspiracy theories: at the very least the conspiracy should make sense on the surface.

I think that being in the bottom 2 this week will hopefully be a wake up call for Bo that he need to go out and perform better. The past few weeks he wasn't as good as when he performed early in the competition.

I remember that quote from Behind the Music, but Jason Newstead saying it.
Maybe it's a group mantra?

Anyway, I too, think that Simon was spot on with his comments. I can't get into Bo because he's always singing these Black Crowes, Led Zep type of jam rock songs, one of my least favorite genres.

Heck, I know Freebird but could he please just play something more radio friendly...at least once.

Something else that is interesting:
Here in Charlotte, our local radio station was holding a talent contest with the winner going to (I think it was) Altanta to audition for AI. I think they paid for lodging and such...
He tried out and didn't make it.. They picked a girl instead.. I don't remember her name.. Anyway.. He goes anyway without the support of the radio station. He gets in to the final 12 and she doesn't. She is now one of his backup singers.
A few months after the final.. He opens his tour here in Charlotte and he pops in on the radio station.. Needless to say, they held their head in shame.

Bo did sing "I'll Be" and mentioned that he does the song at weddings all the time. Doesn't get any more "sell out" than that.

This is the problem I'm having with Bo also.. he seems to be doing the same thing each week.
When he first started, I loved him. He was different and really made me pay attention. He changed the entire AI platform. But, he hasn't been improving, he's just been doing the same thing each week and I think people are getting bored? Or at least I am.
I still think he as an incredible voice. But, he needs to really step up.
I thought it was going to be Carrie and Bo in the finals.. now I'm wondering if it's going to be Carrie and Constantine. Only because Constantine has been improving each week. I do not think that Constantine has the best voice.. but what he has been able to do.. is use it to his advantage each and every week. And that's exactly what Fantasia did. YMMV of course.

Yeah, but wasn't Clay voted off early in the show and then brought back on by the judges when they got to pick who they wanted to see come back on the program from the early rounds?

It's not wether or not he is a sell out. It's the fact that he seems to be worried about if he's being perceived that way. He is acting as if it doesn't matter to him if he gets sent home or not. If thats his attitude then atleast someone participate that wants to be there. It could be an even easier way to do the Mario thing. He's going to sing what he wants and if he gets kicked out, oh well. He got the much needed exposure for his band and now they can get signed and do what they want. I get the feeling from him that he wants out anytime now.

Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd aren't radio friendly? My god man, both of those bands pretty much define FM/AOR radio.

Thats right. Bo isn't going to cowtow to the AI demographic. He'll go when he goes and he's OK with that. I'm sure he's amazed every night simply being where he is now. to Bo.

What Bo said was better than Nadia pulling the God card like some lame wide receiver.

Freebird is one of the most played out radio songs ever...

Yes he was. Clay, Ruben, and Kimberley (Locke) were all in Group 2 (along with 5 others), but only Kimberley and Ruben advanced that week. Ironically, they were in the final 3 of the competition as well.

I've wondered for awhile how Clay didn't win in the finals. If the voting was fixed, the only explanation would be to give the less popular guy the "boost" of winning American Idol since they knew that Clay could be successful without it.

If RS would have came in second, he would have been Justin Guarini. Giving him the title guaranteed record sales.

OK, I’m confused. I’ve never watched the show before (and actually made fun of people who did) but this year my daughter is into it and we watch it every week together.
I was under the impression that the contestants didn’t know who was in the bottom three each week until Ryan announced it live. Was I wrong about that?
Nadia clearly knew she was going to be the last of the three picked, she even had the mike to sing her song resting in her lap. While Seacrest was asking the last three what their song selection would be my daughter pointed out that Nadia was already holding the mike. When Seacrest got to her it looked like he did a double take, fumbled with his lines, interrupted whatever Nadia was going to say, and quickly told her she was in the bottom three. Seacrest looked like he was clearly surprised by something about Nadia (maybe the fact she already had the mike) and Nadia definitely looked, from her expression, like she already knew.

I saw that too. I think they usually just have someone holding the mikes on the couches and Nadia happened to have it. On the other hand, I did think the announcement of Nadia being in the bottom three was more abrupt than usual -- it even made me look at the clock, like maybe they were running late or something.

I noticed that too, DeputyDave. Ryan asked Vonzell and Antony what their songs would be, but didn't say if they were safe or not. He then asked Nadia, she answered and got up to sing before Ryan announced which of them was actualy in the bottom 3.

Rewind your Tivos. All the contestants were holding microphones. Seacrest just pulled one of those tricks where you think he's going to say one thing and says the opposite. Lame tactic after several shows of it.

Watch it again. He asked the first two and then he said something like "Nadia, what song will you be singing - you are in the bottom 3." Or something to that effect.

I'll take your word for it. Despite their high rewatch value, I don't keep the results shows on my Tivo for all eternity.
