Same for me, I still watch every week. It's not a great show by any means, but like you said, it's interesting enough.

I watch it just because I never cancelled the season pass. It's good enough that I don't turn it off and the girls in the show are definitely cute. I wouldn't be upset if it got cancelled.

Fox, remember when you had a good and ever improving show called Tru Calling which you renewed, then postponed, then cancelled, not even showing the six episodes that were filmed before you started treating the show like it had leprosy or something?

Good for you Fox, you had great stuff like North Shore and Point Pleasant, you didn't need Tru.

yeah I've seen all the eps so far.. Like most of the actors on the show and all the woman are good looking sep over all the show is just not really that good..

Too much mixing of themes looking to get that even 50/50 of teen angst love issues and then the supernatural stuff.. So it pretty much fails at both.. From the previews I thought it would be a much darker mood over all and slant toward that theme more but that was not the case.

I can see why the show got the green light being on paper and when pitched I'm sure think it sounds like it would work.. In practice it does not..

As I said before, it is little more than Twin Peaks meets Carnivale meets 90210. You'd think by rolling 3 shows together you'd actually come up with more interesting material than this plodding and boring show. The best episode was the Edlund penned "Who's Your Daddy?". His writing, however, only went to show how horridly the other episodes were scripted. FOX has clearly given up on this show, choosing to plug American Idol, O.C. and 24 whenever possible. Oh well, only 6 more left to watch.

what I don't get is why the show had to be The O.C. part 2 in the first place. non of the other nights on Fox are matched themes. if they wanted a 2 hour block of 90210 clones they could have just kept Tru and maybe brought in Luke Perry, Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green into it.

I watched the first two episodes and thought it was horrible.

I didn't watch the last episode yet, but it was wearing on me. Everyone has so much baggage and problems and they all seem to just not be very nice people. I think a show based on good and evil needs some more defined good characters among the train wrecked residents.

'Hi..I'm Michael and I watch Point Pleasant." <all> 'Hello Michael"

Glad I record it to, as the SW trailer cut off after OC and started up again for Point Pleasant. I keep hoping for it to pick up, but I'm enjoying it well enough thus far. Could just be the girls tho.

At least Fox did better than WB, which cancelled Angel because it had another supernatural show in development, and then didn't even get the other show on the air.

As for Point Pleasant, I watched the first two episodes. I thought the show had a lot of potential -- it could have been a new American Gothic -- but the characters were all so uninteresting that I couldn't be bothered to spend the hour watching every week. I guess they did accomplish one thing: you'd think it would be hard to make Satan's daughter an uninteresting character, but somehow, they managed to pull it off. That's an accomplishment!

The sad thing is Fox actually did give this one a chance, with the premiere getting a cushy post-Idol spot and mucho promotion with ads that actually made the show look more interesting than it is (unlike the horrible Wonderfalls ads that made it look like Joan of Arcadia). Unfortunately in this case, the show just wasn't very good. I really wanted to like it but it was just boring me.

I think they stressed the teen soap stuff too much, and the soap stuff was poorly done at that. It was like a bargain basement version of the OC with some (also subpar) supernatural stuff grown in as an afterthought.

Karma's a BITCH, huh?...."Point Pleasant" cancelled

Boo-'freakin-Hoo

POINT TAKEN: Fox, meanwhile, has put Point Pleasant out of its misery, announcing that last Thursday's episode was the show's last. In an online posting, exec producer Marti Noxon told fans that she was relieved the show ended when it did. "[Tonight's] episode didn't quite come together the way I would have liked," she said, "and I would have hated for that to be our final word." And here's something to file under "T" for "Too little, way too late": Noxon says, "Episodes 9 through 12 were going to be pretty cool, though. Lots of twists and scary stuff." As reported Wednesday, Fox will air the final six episodes of Tru Calling in Point Pleasant's Thursday time slot beginning March 31.

Fox execs are the equivalent of a room full of 6 year olds with ADD and nary a single dose of Ritalin in sight. I can't believe they axed Tru Calling for this shit. Look forward to some stupid reality show in it's place next season.

As bad as it was, a couple weeks ago Noxon said that they did provide some conclusion to the series in the last few episodes since there was little chance there'd be another season. I wonder if those episodes will ever air. Maybe they figure the only way a dvd set of the show would sell is if the last several episodes were dvd exclusive. It's surprising that Fox doesn't ever send their cancelled shows to FX. I completely missed Harsh Realm when it first aired and really enjoyed it on FX. Maybe they figure cancelled shows would tarnish FX's current reputation for quality series.

It's a T! For "TIME TO LEAVE!"

That could be. FX has aired both Harsh Realm and Action! So perhaps FX does have high standards as to what canceled FOX shows it'll air.

you know what.... i agree with fox.... it sucks that great programming doesnt have a large audience but the business is all about money....

i bet if we made a channel devoted to Point Pleasant, Tru Calling, Freeks and Geeks, Arrested Development and etc, that the network would be out of business fast...

I liked point pleasant but its a business...

It's been dumped tonight and next week Tru Calling is back for its final six episode (two of them next week). At least until Fox changes its schedule again.

Great programming? I thought this thread was about Point Pleasant?

hehehe...but seriously, your right on all points. TV networks aren't philonthropic entities, if no ones watching they're notgoing to keep the show around no matter how many critics slobber over it.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed Point Pleasant, and hope they release the episodes on dvd, as I'd like to see the unaired eps. But then I barely liked Tru Calling until Jason Priestly joined the cast and it got interesting, so maybe my taste and that of the majority on tv talk no longer mesh. I am glad Tru will finally get to finish out its run, but I see no reason (other than $ for fox, of course ) why we can't see the rest of Point Pleasant as well.
