Surprisingly I don't think anyone mentioned Gilligan yet. I would have but I would have had to have left out Sonny Steelgrave who was my favorite bad guy on '80's TV. Actually it was him and Ray Sharkey (I think that was his name) from Crime Story.
Some great picks though guys. I'm loving all the Archie love, Crockett and Tubbs are definitely up there, Reverend Jim was a great call - "What does a yellow light mean? Slow down. Wwhhaaaaat ... ddooooeeeeessss ..."
That stuff is priceless. And I love the faceless characters post. Keep 'em coming.

Buffy - BTVS
Jean Luc Picard - Star Trek TNG
James Tiberious Kirk - Star Trek
Andy Sipowicz - NYPD Blue
David Brent - The Office
Alex P. Keaton - Family Ties
Fox Mulder - The X Files
John Crichton - Farscape
Delenn - Babylon 5
Xena - Xena
Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman
Adrian Monk - Monk
Carrie Bradshaw - Sex and the City
well...couldn't keep it to five, but those are definitely my top choices in no particular order. Only picked one from each show, but there are many honorable mentions, most especially Bobby Simone from NYPD Blue and Mr. Spock and Bones McCoy from Star Trek.

3. Eddie Haskell - Leave It To Beaver. The best weasel from the golden age of television
