For whatever reason last week when Sayid got clocked in the head I thought it was a woman. I don't know if I saw something but immediately I had it in my head that it was a woman.

Why would the French lady not want Sayid to find the location of her signal?

You know what would be nice?
If a television executive or research staff monitored forums such as this, and saw what a positive reaction an exciting and intelligent show like "Lost" is getting, then we might get more quality programming and less shows about out of work bartenders embarassing themselves or their families.
That would be nice.

GREAT Episode. Sayid is a bad ass. I loved his torture techniques and how he kicked Sawyer's butt. Sawyer's an idiot. NEVER EVER mess with someone in the military.
Good seeing Jack get pissed off too. Only Sawyer could piss off a nice guy like Jack.
Sad seeing Kate like the kiss
Sun and Michael share another moment this week. I thought Michael was gonna clock Jin this week.

First time I'd seen this show early enough to take part in the thread. First few times were during baseball playoffs so I needed an "alternate method" to view them. After that I had episodes sitting on my Tivo for a few days. Anyways, I had really been waiting for Sawyer's backstory, though I think it let me down a bit. Didn't really explain why he seems to do so much reading. Still I enjoyed the little twist to his story. Sayid was awesome throughout, and Locke is still a badass. Frankly, I'd take any of the ladies, not just Kate.
Only complaint I had is that Charlie has apparently detoxed in one whole day. But whatever. Another great episode and I look forward to next week of course.

Just a few reminders:
- if you're talking about the episode that's already aired, don't use spoiler tags.
- if you're talking about next week's preview, do use spoiler tags.
With that out of the way... great episode.
- "I became Sawyer." What a line, and he delivered it well.
- I don't know if Kate necessarily liked kissing Sawyer, but it could have just been a byproduct of someone going through a lot of trauma recently and needing some sort of lovin'. And before she was on the plane, she had been on the run for who knows how long. So she's been keeping to herself for a while.
- Sayid leaving was kind of awkward. I didn't feel like he showed a lot of remorse about what he had done until the last thirty seconds of the show.
- With Sayid & Claire leaving the beach, who out of the main survivors are still there? Sawyer, Kate, Rose... anyone else?

Wow, somebody has been asleep at the HD switch somewhere at ABC this week. Two segments of Housewives and the first 37 minutes of last night's Lost were not in HD (Whether that's ABC National or ABC Affiliate, I don't know).
You pay all that money to have HD equipment, you kinda like to use it.

I found the whole Sawyer story to be lacking. So someone screwed his parents over when he was younger, and it screwed him up. I get that. But why become a sadist? Why let yourself get tortured for no reason? Just doesn't really make sense to me.

Excellent episode and really freshed out the Sawyer (we don't even know his real name) character.
I'm hoping that they also do something similar next week with Sayid since so far he has been less than impressive.
As Kate getting into the kiss, as people already indicated, it might be a combination of loneliness and also attraction.

Kate is all about the Alpha Male. It seems to me that whoever is in charge, thats the guy she's into. When Jack is giving orders, then she's swooning. When Sawyer is confronting her, she gravitates toward him. Sayid was even getting some sparks off of Kate a couple of weeks ago.
So far I like Sayid and Sawyer the most. Jack seems like a hypocrite to me. He 'says' he didn't want to be in charge, but he never stopped giving orders. He talks about being civilized, but am i the only one who noticed that he never just asked Sawyer for the medicine, or even if he actually had it?

Did anyone else have trouble understanding "Sawyer" when he was giving his explanitory speech? All I kept hearing were the damn waves crashing in.
Anyhoo, his speech led me to believe that he "became" Sawyer when he saw that kid ... however, didn't the wife call him Sawyer after they got done making whoopie? When exactly did he realize that "he became Sawyer"?

I think I enjoyed Sawyer's "backstory" the most out of all we've seen thus far. His character is by far the most complex.

To cover 2 kilo's, he would have had to estimate (down to the second) at least 6 minutes. And that is assuming he is in phenomanial shape and was covering flat land, which he was not.

"Don't expect to be able to give me a piggy back ride anytime soon."
I like that Sayid is going exploring, but I wish he would have taken some people with him. Maybe Locke would have been up for an island adventure.

The only thing I don't get about his backstory is why he leaves HIS breifcase with his $140,000 behind in the married couple's house? I mean obviously, he's going to leave THEIR $160,000 behind, but wouldn't he take his money with him when he fled?
Also, did anybody else notice the mistake that when Sawyer was in the pool hall, the guy he borrowed the $140,000 from said it was $160,000?
