Each week this show just gets better and better. I am really enjoying it. I was really happy that we got more with Locke, because it is great to see Terry O' Quinn with a nice meaty role. I was really stoked when he was on Alias since I really liked him back in the 80's in "The Stepfather" and "Silver Bullet". This so-called revival or more mainstream exposure for him is great. The ending this week was also just fantastic.

Show is emerging as one of the best on TV, appintment TV, especiall in High Def.
Good cast, good storyline and some eye candy. Nice job JJ ! |

I called the ending as soon as the start of the show when Locke was looking at his toes wiggling. Put that together with the miracle revalation and Wala. Great show, but what do you expect from the creator of Alias?

Another great episode!
I think I've figured out what Outlaw Girl's (Kate?) crime is. I'm guessing she's a member of ELF/ALF and someone was accidentally killed when they attacked something like a lab, or logging camp, etc. My evidence is that she's a vegetarian and when she shimmied up the tree she said she'd done it before, so I'm guessing she's spent time as a tree sitter. As for Locke, I guess they'll explain that something was jarred back into place and fixed his injury. He didn't do much walking the first couple of days, so I guess that was all that was needed to overcome any kind of atrophy... I also don't think he killed the boar, The Creature did and Locke just drug it back. As for The Creature: I think it's going to end up being a Woolly Mammoth. This is why it is not eating what it is killing. I think it has to be something like that and even though Locke saw it, he doesn't believe that he saw it. |
Really great episode. I knew there was a bi twist (from the USA Today capsule) and still didn't see that coming. Very cool. I assume that was the secret Locke shared with the boy, but I could be wrong.
I couldn't believe that Evangiline has never acted before. What a find she is. My one concern is I'm not sure how long one can keep a show with this premise going before it gets too absurd. The X-Files held out much longer than I initially expected, but it wasn't set on a desert island. And can someone eplain what's funny about TPS reports (guess I'm just out of the loop, here)? |

And run, do not walk, to your nearest retailer/rental place to watch Office Space. And don't forget your red Swingline stapler.

Anyone else think that Locke didn't kill the boar but he came across the body after the "monster" had killed it?
Also about the atrophy, that's why people go to physical therapy, to keep the muscles from atrophying. Plus he only had the condition for 4 years, maybe he was in the wheel chair for less? As for my idea of the "monster", maybe this? |

What a friggin awesome show. I can't wait for next week.
I'm completely baffled as to what kind of island they're on. |
I haven't been hooked on a show this much since Twin Peaks. It's going to be a long wait for the next episode.

I think Locke's condition is definitely a psychological one - he mentioned how he's seeing a therapist, you never see him in the chair outside of public, unfamiliar places, and his obsession with being a "colonel" and the brief story of someone who lost their legs in war, etc etc.

Again, one more vote for this being such a great show.
I've got two thoughts (one serious, one not so serious). One, I'm thinking the "thing" in the jungle is mechanical, some kind of machine or vehicle that isn't "killing" things on purpose, just that it kills whatever is in its way while it's doing its work. I realize it doesn't explain what happened to the pilot, but it's a thought, anyway. Two, maybe it's Sasquatch (or a Sasquatch-like creature). |
In the latest Entertainment Weekly (the one with Desperate Housewives on the cover) one of the writers

I love the way Lost has managed to keep just about all viewers completely off-balance so far. I have no clue what direction the show is going (nor do I want to know), but I like it. Kind of gives me faith that network television isn't as lame as I usually consider it... |
I had a dream about being chased by a T-rex through the woods last night. Thanks Lost. :)

got to hear the sound a bit better last night. it definitely sounded mechanical.
anyway, GREAT episode. i never gave a second thought to whose wheelchair that was. i also just assumed it was the jolt of the crash that cured him. but i agree, how much atrophy would one expect? it was almost a sixth sense type of thing... i rewound the episode to make sure we hadn't seen him standing up, and we hadn't. and as to whomever wondered about the "secret." He told Walt that "a miracle happened here." The miracle being locke being able to walk, we have now come to find out. so locke was right behind Jack and the other woman on the plane. no one saw him in a wheelchair before and asked about it? how did he get to his seat in the middle of the plane? wouldn't someone that needs wheelchair access need to be at the bulkhead or an area with easier access? great acting by terry o'quinn. after knowing the reveal, go back to his reaction after the boar attacked. he was clearly flustered, extremely worried that he had lost his legs once again. and his reactions in previous episodes... how he was just generally happy while everyone else was freaking out. great piece of acting. I love, love, love, love this show. and there has got to be bigger secrets than this. locke is another example of someone getting to start over, wiping the slate clean. i want to see more on michael and his son... there seems to be more there. and yeah, i definitely believe that you figured it all out, hippie. |
