My wife translated what the Korean woman said to the guy from Oz:

"I'll do a good watch for your son"

and

"Don't run anywhere far, your dad will be ok"

Awesome, thanks!

Would someone be kind enough to fill me in on what happened before the first commercial break? I forgot to set my timer and missed out on the first 5 minutes.

2 Words.... TPS Report!

Feneant 10-13-04 07:51 PM

nothing much in the first 5 minutes,
Spoiler:
Some wild boars were roaming through the fuselage eating and ran off scaring the people. It's when they decided to burn it

This episode confused me... it was too different from the others... especially the end with Kate and the doc, what was up with that. (seeing things). The real ending was very interesting though, opens up more possibilities. Odd how the tv showed the preview for next week with another 7-8 minutes left, confusing as heck.

MrBlue 10-13-04 08:01 PM

Locke is such a badass! That was a damn cool ending!

goLUCKY 10-13-04 08:03 PM

wow, what an ending!!!

He Who Lurks No More 10-13-04 08:05 PM

A miracle, indeed.

This show is awesome.

cleaver 10-13-04 08:23 PM

I don't see how they could possibly top this episode. That was one of the best episodes I've ever seen of anything.

clckworang 10-13-04 08:31 PM

Thanks, Feneant.

I absolutely LOVE this show. Fucking commercials really screw up the flow of this show. I haven't been watching in HD because I couldn't stand the fucking commercials. I just got my Comcast DVR Monday. The first thing I set up was this. Looks great in HD and I get to FF the bullshit

cliffzig 10-13-04 09:00 PM

You know what really, REALLY sucks about this show?

166 hours until the next one :(

movieking 10-13-04 09:34 PM

I didn't really like the ending. It seems to be leading us in the direction that some people had posted in the first thread, which is not a good thing to me.

Still, I love this show

redinger 10-13-04 09:51 PM

TPS Reports! I had to explain to my wife why I was laughing at that joke.

Agree about the commercials, I previously complained about the frequency of commercial breaks. Now I'm complaining about ruining the flow of the show.

Question about the ending:

Spoiler:

The guy in the tie - did anybody else think Mr. Rourke from Fantasy Island? I started yelling Da Plane! Da Plane!

But, I am a little concerned about where this might be headed

Plus she's Canadian.

LorenzoL 10-13-04 09:54 PM

On the Canadian station, they showed preview of the next episode and it explains that
Spoiler:
the guy with the tie is Jack's father

MrX 10-13-04 10:08 PM

Very good episode

I liked the ending with Locke

treszoks 10-13-04 10:16 PM

Is it next Wednesday yet? :)

cornflakeguy 10-13-04 10:50 PM

Best.
Episode.
Ever.
(yet).

I like that Locke isn't a 'bad-ass straight from the fires of hell', but quite possibly, a bad-ass in the making. Certainly I wasn't the only one who teared up a bit at the ending.

I do think however that he didn't kill the boar. The big thing killed the boar, Locke just drug it back to camp.

We already know, with the pilot, that the big thing doesn't eat what it kills.

What? No posts yet b.s.-ing that they figured out Locke's secret in the first episode?

The amount of ass this show kicks is reaching historical proportions!

What kind of a scumbag was Locke's supervisor, busting the chops of someone in a wheelchair?

Harold Perrineau goes into the woods and gets gored by a wild boar. The last time I saw him in the woods was on the business end of a grizzly bear in The Edge. He didn't do so well there either. :)

Why did they have to burn the fuselage too? It could've been used for shelter after the bodies were removed.

Despite the lack of food, no one even broached the subject of dining on the dearly departed.

What did Locke see, and why didn't he admit it?

Patman 10-13-04 10:57 PM

I think JJ Abrams was going for a Shyamalan reveal at the end with Locke's miraculous recovery from being wheelchair bound. You'd think 4 years would have some atrophy set in which would make it tough to walk even if the condition was relieved by the fall from the sky and numerous jolts from the landing.

The TPS reports comment was just a little too cute.

To paraphrase Hurley, they're nowhere near that hungry yet!

Jackskeleton 10-13-04 11:05 PM

God damn that was good tv.

Locke ruled. I was worried that they would have turned him insane, but man did they make him one badass mofo.

CarlitoBrown 10-13-04 11:07 PM

This is the first episode I've seen of the show. Pretty good but I really need to catch up with the 3 episodes I've missed.

I wonder what happens when this monster is discovered. That seems to be a big draw for the show.

I'd laugh if it was King Kong.

That killed me. The GF asked me why that was so funny, I tried to explain but, well you know.
