Clearly the highlight of this episode.

You are talking about a show that has so much potential - yet it so damn underwhelming at least half the time. What do you expect?

Then, right when you get a core school episode, that deals with football, son defying father, apperances, acceptance, etc. you throw that all out the window and say "FOTW and HS, so dumb."....
I'd say the main problem was that it has been done to death. The football issue was covered in the first season. This week's freak story could be pieced together from any number of previous episodes...

Season one: fat girl ridiculed by crowd of people at school.
Kryp/Tuck: "scabby" faced girl ridiculed by crowd of people at school.

Season one: fat girl goes on the kyrptonite diet and becomes thin and beautiful overnight.
Kryp/Tuck: scabby girl gets kryptonite plastic surgery and is transformed into beautiful girl overnight.

Season one: Soon she's approached by the jock who had just recently been tormenting her.
Kryp/Tuck: Soon she's approached by the jock who had just recently been tormenting her.

Season one: jock is eaten.
Kryp/Tuck: jock thinks he looks ugly.

Season one: Chloe makes irrational leap to correct conclusion.
Kryp/Tuck: Chloe/Lois make irrational leap to correct conclusion.

Season one: Pete gets involved and almost gets eaten... Clark saves the day.
Kryp/Tuck: Lana/Lois get involved, become imperiled... Clark saves the day.

Come on people. There's only so much of this complaining I can take.
Take your own advice and don't read it then.

Personally, I thought it was a really good episode.
...
Terrific opening episodes so far. Sure some points could be improved on, but most shows are in the same category.
Here's to more good eps!

I've been thinking about this...

Spoiler:
Anybody wanna bet that when clark drinks the Kryptonite love juice, it has the opposite effect and he can't rise to the occasion when Chloe reaches for the Supercock. Then Chloe, even though she isn't in her right mind because of the aphrodisiac, later remembers that she wasn't getting it done for Clark, and it further leads to her jealousy/envy of Lois's effect..

As far as i know, Lex is normal between treatments until however many hours, 48 or 72 or whatever is up. Then he starts breaking down.

Anyway, i didn't think the episode was too bad. Glad to see Clark play football, and the interaction between him and Lois is marvelous.

Still hate Chloe. Still think she's ugly.

Not particularly interested in what Lana's doing at all this year.

Lois brings teh hot.

I liked the little humor in there between tender moments, like the line "i think i'll write that down."

3 episodes in and I am ready to stop watching this. This kryptonite crap in every episode is getting pretty tired. Except for the first episode none of the story has advanced to tell you anything at all interesting. Next week I am not even going to watch.

I thought the episode was pretty fun and one of the better freak of the weak eps to date. I liked it so much because the "freak of the week" stuff was kind of put on the back burner, while you had Lois writing her first article, a nice "flashback" scene to circa s1, Clark/Lois scenes which are really fun, Lana and her dudes story line gets a bit of shine, and Chloe with the jelousy again(not really happy about this). I actually think the show is three for three so far. A lot of that is Lois, Durance really nailed it.

One thing that was awful is that dude Abby made out with. His reading of "my face...my faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace" was just so bad.

Plus Lois in her surgery attire was just too hot for words.

So just because a plot thread, i.e, football, has been covered before they shouldn't touch it again? That makes no sense to me. Just because you may have covered an issue a few years ago in real life does not mean that it will come back up again.

Yes, I agree the kryptonite plots got old pretty fast and can be repetative. But perhaps I have come to accept taht they are part of the show and enjoy the other parts for what they are. If I sat down and thought "this is sooo dumb" every week in relation to 10 % of the episode, I think it would spoil the rest for me.

Instead of saving Lana now being replaced with Lois. However, Lois is able to take care of herself better than Lana.

I'm tired of the FOTW, as well, However, you can see how Clark attitude have become more cofident and ability to control his powers.

It's a shame, Lex didn't do much in this episode and Lionel was gone.

I hope, the season will improve after these FOTW and get back on track. I want to see more of Lex and Clark trying to mend their friendship, if it's possible.

I want to see it fall apart.

The clocks-a-tick'n lets unfold the mythos.

I think it's funny how the Smallville Medical Center is one the most commonly used sets on this show. We see the hospital more than the high school.

I hope all these characters have health insurance.

I actually wish they would blow up the hospital and redesign it. I'm tired of seeing that same old set. Purple and teal walls?

Granted, no JJ nipple, but still pretty skin-clad for TV! I'm surprised the sensors didn't catch it.

I love the show, but they could cut down the sex stuff. My kids love watching the show, and the sex stuffs adds nothing to what the show is really all about.

I guess Margot will be taking over that role now, I'm sure she'll just continue to represent him.

They could have Lionel Luther have him killed.

I have been very inspired by the way he lived his life.

Reeves said, "I can get bitter at people who live their lives like they are paralyzed, I say to them - get moving and live your life"

Not a 100% correct quote above, but it is close.

I'm getting tired of the shower scenes in this season already.

The rest of the T&A on the other hand is all good if you ask me.

Liked the ep, but not because of the main storyline. It's just too ridiculous that various people around Smallville/Metropolis have discovered kryptonite can be a truth serum, make ugly people beautiful, make people fall in love with you, make cars go really fast, etc. etc. and yet the place hasn't been completely stripmined by the government/corporations. How the hell is this secret still confined to that area???

Other thoughts so far:

* Love the addition of Lois.

* They should've left Lana in Paris. She no longer adds anything to the show. She's gorgeous, but she's the most boring character. I have nothing against Jason yet, but he seems strictly to keep Lana preoccupied now that Lois is in town. Unless the tattoo thing leads somewhere big, the Lana/Jason stuff is going to become useless filler along the lines of 'Kim Bauer on 24 season 2'.

* Glad Chloe is back, because I always thought her character was interesting (due to the shadiness that occasionally rears its head). But they need to break her from the pining for Clark thing. I think she should become the next Pete, i.e. she should be the friend that knows Clark's secret. That element is REALLY needed, and Chloe would be perfect for that.

* I hope Lionel stays out of the picture for awhile. I love his character, but he's on the verge of feeling played out. He was pretty much the "big bad" of S3, so hopefully they'll fill that role with someone/thing else in S4 (too early for Lex, though).
