Way too many commercials.
So is the polar bear just a baby and it's 'mom' is the as yet unseen big bad beast?
Will this show be like Gilligan's Island in the sense that the women will always have clean hair and just a touch of make up?
So I guess we are to assume that they are getting clean clothes out of the various salvaged luggage? They keep showing people cleaning themselves and their clothes in the ocean which really doesn't work.
Where are they getting clean drinking water (which they can't survive long without) from?
How about food?

Question for anybody. I missed about 4 or 5 minutes of the show, somewhere in the middle, and my question is, did the Dr., Kate, or the Hobbit ever tell the group, even if just the hiking expedition, about what happened to the pilot? I know originally the Doc simply said that there were no survivors in the cockpit, but later one member of the hiking party asked, when looking at the dead bear, if that is what happened to the pilot. Did Kate or the Hobbit say something while they were hiking through the forest? Thanks.
Oh, great second episode. Easily my favorite new show.

minor quibble with a good show...
how come so many people wanted to hike up that steep mountain to test the radio/receiver. If I were them, 2 or three people would have been enough. You don't know how long you are going to be stuck on the island so it's better to save your energy ... plus, climbing the mountain is dangerous.

As you can see, I can't remember anybody's name.

Yep, as stated above, the Dr. said no when asked if there were any survivors in the cockpit. So he decided to keep it a secret to not freak the others out, and neither Kate or the Hobbit said anything either, they just glanced at each other.

I thought, at first, that the Korean guy might be poisoning the other survivors with the fish (or whatever food he was offering). I still haven't ruled it out, due to his standoffish behavior, and the look of sadness on his wife's/girlfriend's face as he walked away to give out the food.

I wonder if the Korean man was looking for guinea pigs to eat whatever that was -- making sure it was safe first and thus didn't want his wife to eat it yet.

You guys are looking too much into the Korean guy and his wife. He just wants her to stay subservient like she would back home in Korea. It's a different culture - he doesn't want her to become tainted by coming into contact w/ the Westerners.
I'm either right on or completey full of shit.

I forgot to mention this as well. I think it is safe to assume that the handgun was a 9mm as this is the most common law enforcement issued caliber. A 9mm, even if you emptied a full clip into a charging polar bear would probably not be enough. Even if the marshall had a .45 or .40 I do not think the 4-6 shots fired would be enough to bring down the bear. But they do need to take to camp for food, or at least butcher it there and leave the body far away from camp to avoid any other creatures from searching for a meal.

the fat guy would be rail thin in about a month. I wonder if the actor will be losing weight to correspond with his character

Ya, that was my favorite. But hey, maybe the bear was malnourished due to the lack of a food source and just gave up after getting shot.
Oh, and the gun looked like a SigSauer P226 9mm. Standard issue for U.S. Marshals.I also noticed the continuity error of the guy asking about the pilot. I think the hobbit let it slip in a scene that didn't make the cut. Speaking of the hobbit, it's gonna be entertaining as hell watching that withdrawal.
As for Terry O'Quinn's character, I don't think he's been on the Island before (although I like the theory), I think he's just a man that knows how to survive. The kinda guy that can kill w/o hesitation, but has given that all up. And right now he's just laying back resolving himself to the fact that he's gonna have to start up all over again. Unfortunately I think he's gonna get axed not long into the series. An not just cause that's how it looked in the pre-view. Terry's never lasted that long in any series. That's why I like him. It's like rooting for the underdog.
Not surprised Kate's the prisoner. And oh ya,

And I think the Korean's are big brother and little sister.
Well that's it for my pet theories. Definitely love this show.

Kate is attractive, but not super hot IMO.
Especially not if your talking "celebrity" hot rather than "real world" hot.

Oh ya, I almost forgot my theory about not getting eaten by the moster. I'm sure others have thought of this too. Travel everywhere with the fat guy.
