I cannot believe it's only been a week since the premiere. Seems like forever.....
Don't forget, ABC will be running the first two eps back to back this Saturday.

Looks like nobody's more surprised by the show's success than some top Di$ney execs.
I found this at IMDB...
I found this at IMDB...
Disney President and COO Bob Iger, who is CEO Michael Eisner's choice to succeed him, was "furious" with former ABC Entertainment Chairman Lloyd Braun for greenlighting the pilot for Lost, which has become the biggest new hit of the season, the New York Post's "Page Six" column reported today (Tuesday), citing an unnamed source. "He hated the show -- he thought it was awful and was really angry the pilot cost $12 million. He got Michael Eisner on his side and fired Lloyd. But now the show is the biggest success ABC has had in a long time, so who's lost now?" the Post's source said. A spokesman for Disney called the report "ridiculous."

Doesn't that always seem to be the case? I can remember plenty of pilots the network "hated", only to go on and become big hits. Network execs think they know everything, but they aren't any better than some Joe off the street at picking hits.

$12 million for the pilot?

Unless there are a bunch of special effects tonight, I don't see how it could cost $12M. I only remember the engine explosion from part one that might have cost some $$ but the rest was just having plane parts layning around and some trees being shaken.

Let's not forget that $12M would be peanuts for a movie budget, and I thought last week's episode had the production values of a movie.

Haha...I love stories like the one about Bob Iger above. "What??!, you greenlighted a quality show with good production values?!?" We could have produced 3 or 4 cop dramas or unfunny sitcoms for that!" As I've long suspected, if a quality show makes it's way to one of the networks it's gotta be an accident.
Glad to hear this is a hit so far. If last weeks wouldn've performed poorly, ABC probably would have yanked it before airing the 2nd half.

I suspect the location shooting drove up the budget due to travel & accomodations for the cast and crew.

I cheated and watched the second episode, and it pissed me off that I did, because now I have to wait longer for the third episode. It was better than the first episode, IMO, and really it would be better to watch them back to back.

I was lucky to see the show before it premiered and I love it. I hope it stays as good going forward.

Great episode! The ending in itself garantees that once you've seen it, you won't stop watching until the season ends!
I dont see how the 2 episodes could have cost 12 million though...
