To answer some questions:
The dog DEFINITELY belongs to the father/son that is on the island. It was on the plane with them. You will learn this next week.
What aired last night was definitely the first half of the 2hour pilot. No editing/chopping down, just the first half of a single double-length episode.
I think that ABC splitting the pilot into two halves will actually hurt the show. By the end of the first half, there really isn't too much of a mystery going on to really hook you in. By the end of next week's episode, you will all be hooked
Unforunately, by not airing the 2 halves together, I think a lot of people who watched this week's might not watch next week's, which is a shame because they will be missing a great show.

Good news, maybe ABC won't cancel it in a few weeks
ABC's new drama "Lost" premiered to a surprisingly strong 11.6/19, dominating the 8 p.m. hour. A prime-time "Dr. Phil" special on CBS was second at 7.9/13, while NBC's "Hawaii" took third. The season premiere of "Smallville," 3.5/6, put The WB in fourth. "That '70s Show" and "Quintuplets" averaged 3.3/6 for FOX. "America's Next Top Model" opened its season on UPN with a 2.7/5.

Eight-month pregnant women are indeed allowed to fly, although it isn't recommended.
For example, here's Delta's policy, straight from their website:

We do not have travel restrictions for pregnant women traveling on Delta's domestic and international flights. You do not need a medical certificate to travel.
Ticket change fees and penalties are not waived for pregnancy. Therefore, if you are traveling after your eighth-month, we recommend that you check with your physician to make sure you are physically fit to travel.

From AICN, here's a quote from co-showrunner Damon Lindelof re: the thing in the jungle:
AICN: You’re on record as saying there are no dinosaurs on the island. Will we get a look at one of the giant tree-stomping creatures within the first 13 hours broadcast?
DL: The record speaketh true. NO dinosaurs. Will you get a look at the "thing in the trees" in the first 13? I'll only say this -- maybe you'll see it, maybe you won't... but you'll definitely know much more ABOUT it.

Is it really some passenger that freaks out occasionally? Maybe it's a top secret experiment they were carrying that escaped? I'm kind of pressed to find a "scientifically plausible" explanation.

Evangeline just seems like one of those names that only beautiful women have.
She reminds me of the young Dana Delaney on China Beach - my first celebrity crush... and other firsts that happen around 12 years old.
I was so frustrated at it being chopped in half to show a 2 hour Bachelor that I boycotted the Bachelor. I might have sat there and watched the Bachelor from 10 to 11 after a two hour Lost.

I wonder if we're the only 2 people 2 have seen that movie?

Anyone got pics of Ms. Evangeline? Apparently she's too new for IMDB to have any.

THE DOG HAD SHIFTY EYES!
I think the hobbit went into the woods thinking the noise was coming from his big walking tree friend.
I can't even guess as to how this going to turn out. That's the fun of it!

I think the hobbit dudes character is a drug addict. He is in a band and he suddenly goes into the bathroom? He is wacked out and is going to get more so the longer he is on the island without his fix.
Ohh..and Kat is hot and seeing her on the beach in next weeks episode will keep me watching.

Nice to see Greg Grunberg (Eric from Alias)
I think they landed on the same island that Treat Williams did at the end of Deep Rising.

I was starting to wonder is this was secret remake of Land of the Lost. I liked the pilot (or the first half of it, as I learned from this thread), but they need to calm down with the shaky cam. The action scenes were a little too BOURNE SUPREMACY for me.

I thought it was okay. But it's a made for TV movie and if this thing came out in the theaters it would look pretty stupid. Of course, I'm intrigued and want to see what happens!
