There are 48 survivors. An average airplane can hold what, 200 passengers? I wouldn't call that most. I'd say only a handful of the survivors had no injuries. Which is probably also unlikely, but hey, you gotta suspend SOME disbelief or there'd be no show.

What's up with Terry? Is he just traumatized or is he a Special Person?

I hadn't realized Perrineau and Daniel Dae Kim were in this show. Makes me want it to succeed even more.

I gotta say I was pretty shocked to see a guy get sucked through a jet engine before 8:15 PM It did piss me off to see that they cut it in half for 2 hours of the bachelor. This was popcorn movie caliber stuff I didn't know anything about it going in other than the plane crash survivors. The beast idea got interesting once it became apparent that it wasn't a dinosaur. Phew! Sure did sound like one though

Can somebody confirm if this will be replaying on 10/02/04? I missed the last half of this episode and I'm anxious to see the rest.

yeah but they landed on a beach.. Sand is all soft and squishy!! (well tv/movie sand is)

as for the show, pretty good but now I read here that they cut it down, no wonder I felt like the show was only 1/2 done in the first ep. sigh..

At least there is a good mix of people as far as making ya wonder if so and so might be the"nobody" who is the next to be killed off.. CGI work on the crash was also good and so far, even with just 1/2 a show it did hook me in pretty good as far as wanting to see more.. Rare for a new show..

Of course the friend I was watching it with felt it was way too slow and pretty much hated it.. He only tuned in being he is a new (due to the DVD sets I have) Alias fan and the ads for "Lost" have really pushed how it's from "the creator of.....".. In fact he disliked it so much he started to bitch about too much and I had break out the spoiler threats being he has not seen season 3 of Alias...

"This show sucks, is that a monster? Why can't we see what it is? I hate this........"
me: --so ya know in season 3 of Alias they find out that..........
"Ok ok ok stop!! Never mind."

According to my TiVo, yes it is being replayed.

to the HD. Looked pretty sweet.

to ABC for cutting the pilot in half. The leaked version was the perfect pilot: it answered some questions and raised others in a building fashion. The hour-long version ended too quickly and in a strange spot storywise.

It's not a dino for fucks sake folks. It's already stated as that.

Though the second part of this pilot will be a nice surprise. I enjoyed it, I was hoping that it would be a two hour pilot so that way they could get on with the next episode since I've been waiting a good month to see how it continues now (part of the "everybody" who has seen the pilot before) This will be on the list of things I watch. stupid abc. Get on with it for goodness sakes.

I got the idea that she was anorexic myself.

BTW, it was nice to see "Comic Book Guy" in his live-action debut on this show. "Worst Plane Crash Ever!"

Can anyone recap the 2nd half of the episode from the point where the one guy reveals he is in that rock band? Damn cable went out after that. Thanks.

Tonight's episode and next week's episode will be strung together for the full two-hour pilot on 10/2, so if you wait until then you can see it for yourself.

Okay so everyone is skeptical about the number of survivors of the crash - yet we STILL DON'T KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED! I mean normally when a plane goes down, does it get broken into three distinct pieces like this one? Obviously, this is not as simple as turbulence...

And only ONE PERSON has mentioned the dog - which appeared twice in the episode. Clearly the dog is not indigenous to the island - why else would Abrams choose the dog as the only animal we see on the island in this episode?

This show is exciting. Disappointed to hear about the splitting of the pilot though. Kinda sucks considering Abrams was given a choice spot for the Alias pilot - which I believe aired commerical free. Speaking of which, I did notice the show had oddly spaced and fewer commerical breaks than your average hour long show (you know how there is one around every 15 minutes - like on a Whedon show or Alias). Perhaps splitting the pilot caused this.

The answer to your question is given in part 2 of the pilot. And it's not quite what you may think.

That was probably one of the best premieres I've ever seen. I haven't been this intrigued by a story since Twin Peaks' premiere, and maybe the season finale of Alias when Sydney disappeared.

I have NO idea how they're going to keep this story going for multiple episodes / years, but I'm looking forward to it. The cast looks great, the Kate girl was hot, the LOTR kid, Kendall from Alias, the guy from Oz, etc. However, I must say I was disappointed to see Adam from Smallville pop up. Just when I thought I was rid of him......

I also thought it was strange NO ONE seemed happy about surviving. I know they were surrounded by carnage, it had only been a day or so, they were still in shock, etc. But at some point you'd think someone would consider themselves happy to be alive.

Something that struck me as odd as no one seemed to be grieving for the victims. The black lady who was seated next to the doctor mentioned that her husband was in the bathroom, so Iam assuming he died in the crash. But when they showed her on the beach (after she was resuscitated) she did not seem particularly grief-stricken or like she was looking for her husband.

I am assuming that more of the survivors would have been travelling with loved ones who died, but they all act like strangers.

Did JJ claim it wasn't a dino, or not any kind of monster period? I am having trouble wondering what could be doing that sort of damage. Maybe they have man-eating lions or carnivorous apes.

How much you want to bet that before the season is out the pregnant girl gives birth and
Spoiler:
the baby and one other person, not the mother, are the only two to make it off the island when it's over.
If this show lasts for a few years, that would be interesting.

I don't know how I feel about the pilot yet, but will watch the other half. I started to not like it when the creature showed up. I like sci-fi, but I don't like when random things seem thrown in for the plot that aren't believable. I'll watch the 2nd half and decide if I want to give it more time.

An interview with JJ has said everything that happens on this island will be "scientifically possible", so we can assume it's not sci-fi based or dinosaurs.

They've already given their first clue as to the "monster." The lady from the Bronx said the noise it made was familiar. Now, I've never been to the Bronx, but I'm pretty sure they don't have dinosaurs there.

Actually if memory serves there was a brief moment with her knealing, crying, and kissing her wedding ring. But I'm guessing the shock just hasn't sunk in yet, plus the strange noises have them a tad distracted. Can't wait until next week to see the rest of the pilot (networks can be so stupid sometimes).

The noise and movement of the creature (the trees and leaves in the jungle) reminds me of the last see of that Treat Williams movie, "Deep Rising". Got me curious.

I thought it was a great pilot. Kind of early though. I had to turn from it at certain points since my daughter was still up.

Also where is this "carnivorous" thing coming from? The pilot was NOT eaten - he was tossed up into a tree. If whatever it was, WAS carnivorous how would it survive? An island too small to be charted wouldn't have a large enough animal population to sustain such a creature. Not to mention that the thing would have been eating the other dead bodies in the front of the plane with the pilot prior to them finding it, no?

Prob some crazy, mad scientist (who owns the dog) lives on the island created some creature that has run amok and he can't control/kill it. Liked it though.
