What a great show at first I was like really pissed off, but after awhile I really got into it. I hate dreams sequences and to see one go on so long was really killing me, but it was damn good. Sometimes it felt like you didn't know what was real and what wasn't. You can't have a bad show when KATHERINE NARDUCCI is in it what a set on her.

Dream sequences are cheap, easy, techniques that generally signify a lack of ideas and creativity.
If this was an episode of Happy Days during the 70's, then fine.
But I expect a lot more from this show that is supposed to provide quality 21st. century TV programming.
This season of the Sopranos is a lost or throw-away season IMO.
Other then Steve Buscemi's character, it seems as if the writers have been coming up with scripts based on what actors are available during the current episode's shooting scheduel.
'Oh Jamie-Lynn Sigler has a lot of availability next week?! Good, let's write a nice large part for her in the next episode.'
'Hey, wow! Steven Van Zandt is done touring with Springsteen? Great, let's find something for him to do!'
The show has become a dis-jointed mess.
I've been a devoted fan who was there from Day One. They film the whole damn thing right in the area where I live, including scenes in my actual neighboorhood.
Right now though, AFAIC, the only good thing about the show is that Deadwood is on afterwards.
Deadwood, BTW, is putting out a much better, more consistant product week after week.

Getting off topic here...but does anyone know the name of the song that Tony B's cell phone plays when it rings? I know the tune, but it's driving me crazy trying to figurue out what it is? Anyone know (and who sings it, as well?)?
Thanks!

Put me in the great episode camp. I loved it.
By the way, did anyone catch Richie Aprille? I saw his name in the credits, but don't remember seeing him in the episode. I don't think he was in the death car.
By the way, who was in the death car? I know Tony's dad was driving, and Big P and Ralphie were in the front seat. Artie Bucco was next to Tony at one point -- who was the other back seat passenger? I thought it was Mikey Palmice, but I wasn't sure.

Ok... I just finished watching one of the most bizare hours of TV in a long time. But I have a theory behind it...
IMO, this episode was planned out, written & possibly even shot back when everyone thought this would be the last season. This was a way to say goodbye to all the ex-cast members they could find. (Not really sure where David Proval was though) I mean, come on, if this wasn't a "good-bye" episode, what possible reason would there be to have John Fiore in the backseat for the few seconds he was there?
I could be way off but that's what I thought. They just threw the Tony B. plot into it to make it kind of realivent to the season.
Oh and I do see a huge war brewing...

I think the "I'm the boss" plaque was probably the most significant moment of the whole episode. Between that and Tony B. telling Christopher that he feels like he has something coming to him for standing up for the family.

When I first got finished watching this episode I had mixed feelings. I thought the dream was well done (I especially liked the teeth falling out. I have that dream sometimes as well and looked into possible meanings, the poster above quoted it perfectly) but I think it went on way too long. It seemed a bit of a waste to me knowing there were only two more episodes left this season. I seriously don’t think I would have minded if it had been done earlier or if the seasons lasted longer.
Now, thinking it over I am leaning towards really liking it. I want to watch it again but I have started to notice some things. Tony is a very intelligent man, probably at least as smart as his “genius” IQ cousin. The problem is that Tony lives and has grown up in an environment that doesn’t foster intelligent thought over action. Things that Tony’s subconscious have deduced are revealed in dreams (i.e.Big P*ssy turning rat). Tony knew that the only outcome of Tony B’s mentor being killed was him getting revenge. Not willing to accept what that could mean he in turn dreamed it. The dream where everyone was pushing him to “do the job” was not foreshadowing that killing his cousin was inevitable, but it signified the pressure he would placed under to give up Tony B. by New York. Since the “job” was never specified I also think it meant the pressure he would feel from his Jersey crew to wack Johnny Sack.
Other things I noticed could be interpreted as well. Carmela making Tony get off the horse if he wanted to come back could signify his fear of losing authority or power (or even independence and freedom, another thing a horse represents) if he reconciles with her. I think the bit with Artie may actually represent himself. Subconsciously I think he knows Carmela had a lover. This may foreshadow the guidance counselor getting wacked before the end of this season.
Just a few observations. I’m going to watch it again.

I just hope if Tony and Carmela get back together that they don't spend three episodes on it. I like the way they have been subtly hinting at it just to show that they think about it. If it happens they should be able to cram most of it into one episode and move on. I can imagine a nightmare scenario where Tony tries to win back Carmela all next season and turns the show into Ed

I don't think "the job" that was going on in Tony's dream means whacking Tony B. I think Tony would take on Johnny Sack in an all-out war before murdeing his own cousin. It's not the same situation as Big P going working for the Feds, or even Ralphie, since he directly instigated it with the death of Pie-oh-My.
As neutral as Tony wanted to remain in the NY war, I think the Sopranos will be forced to take sides with Little Carmine's family thanks to Tony B. and will go to war against Johnny Sack. I wonder what Junior's take is on all this (not that it matters) but man we haven't seen him forever.
I think the guilt laid on him for not being sent away while Tony B. did do the time outweighs his relationship with Johnny Sack. Lying about the hit right to Johnny Sack's face at the funeral was the last straw anyway.

And maybe the episode where they show Tony B and Tony S. talking bout old times was ta make us realize their history, and that he WON'T whack Tony B...even if it may be the way to avoid the all out war.

at first when i was watching the episode I was like what the heck is going on but by the end of the episode I was loving it.
I don't get why so many people hate this show because theres no wackings why can't people understand this show is about Tony Soprano. This show is about one of the most complex characters ever on tv and he happens to be a mob boss. This show is still the best thing on tv today!
The last two episodes should be amazing the previews always through you off but it looks someone finds out about adriana

it took me two episodes to place Tony B's ring tone. I think it's in a different key than the actual song which might be why I had a problem.
In the preview for next week, does Tony say "Now we're even?". Did I see that or just hear it? At first I assume it could be Tony S. telling Johnny Sack "now we're even" as in Tony S. kills Tony B. But now I'm thinking that Tony S. will take out Johnny Sack and save Tony B. as a way to finally get rid of the guilt he has about Tony B.
BTW, absolutely LOVED this episode.
P.S.-What qualities constitute "quality 21st. century TV programming"?
