Ugh, we were halfway through this on Netflix a few days ago and it's gone. Both the Blu-ray and DVD sets are expensive, even used. Really bummed.

They need a feature on Netflix where if they know something is leaving and you're watching it they alert you. Also surprised they don't better coordinate (re)releases with leaving Netflix to make a sale.

Ugh. Bummer.

Supposedly, if you have a series or movie added to your list, the date it's leaving (if it's upcoming) will show up.

Re: Freaks and Geeks Discussion

I may have missed that, then. Though I really don't remember the last time I watched a show from "My List." I usually use the "Continue watching" ribbon or pick from what's new. When I go to My List and look at random titles, I don't see anything popping up about dates, so maybe they're all "safe," we'll see.

Re: Freaks and Geeks Discussion

Here's what I found...

How do I find out if a TV show or movie is leaving Netflix?
The Netflix website displays expiration dates on TV shows and movies to help make sure you don't miss out on great content.
You'll be able to see an expiration date if a title is leaving our service in the next 30 days. You can find that expiration date in the following places on netflix.com:
The details page of the TV show or movie.
The My List section, if you have it set to manual sort. (US Only)
You will also see an expiring content notification during the first few seconds of playback on netflix.com.
This notification is only for TV show seasons (or entire series) expiring in the next 30 days.
This notification will only show once per day.

I do for blu-ray rentals

The blu-ray set might be close to OOP so get it now before it is too late.

Not my auction, just trying to help, but here's a used DVD set (good condition) for $17 shipped (or less if offer accepted). Not bad for a great series.

Re: Freaks and Geeks Discussion

Wow, does this thread have legs or what?

Finally got around to watching the Cultureshock documentary. Everyone is right--really great. Was very impressed with the production values--how they recreated many of the small but memorable moments of the show.

I assume they shot some of the footage at the original high school they shot some of the show at?

Anyway, it was cool that pretty much everyone of significance returned to share their thoughts on the show.

I would've loved to to know if NBC gave them a second season on the condition that the made the show more hopeful or victorious for the characters, if Feig and Apatow would've begrudgingly accepted or balked and walked away.

On another note--for anyone with the Blu ray that also has watched the DVDs, do you feel it's a significant step up in picture quality?

Blu-ray was big jump for me over the DVDs. My last rewatch was on Netflix and they seemed great. I'm sure the show will turn up somewhere on a Streamer again. Its too big of a property to disappear forever.

Just finding out about Cultureshock docu. Must find and watch this!

I have the first release of the yearbook edition of the show and now that I have 4K tv and Sonos surround sound I'm thinking of getting the blu-ray. Sounds like it's worth it? $30 on Amazon. Don't see it on Deep Discount. Maybe there's other places to find? I'm a bit out of the loop.

The Shout Factory Blu-ray release is OOP, so many places will likely not have it at all.

I see the fancy version is but I believe that is the same as the original yearbook I have?

I see another for $30 that is not so "bookish".

Re: Freaks and Geeks Discussion

The version thar included the original aspect full screen ratio and the widescreen version is OOP too. The $30 one is just for the widescreen version. If that isn’t an issue for you, it is $14.99 here plus tax and shipping. https://www.hamiltonbook.com/freaks-...series-blu-ray

Re: Freaks and Geeks Discussion

What an absolutely delightful and fun little doc. I just saw on A&E app on tv and was so well done. Very thorough. All the principals involved in front and behind the camera. Very cool all are still around and doing stuff.

Just an easy hour with ads unfortunately, but small price to pay for such a great look back at this cult series.

I saw someone say they should do a re-union movie like THE BIG CHILL where everyone gathers for Daniel Demario's funeral

I saw someone say that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election.

A lot of people out there floating stupid ideas all the time.

Would be cool to see the characters again. The talent that came out of the show was pretty massive.
