Yeah, Buffalo Wings! Even more stupid than the Chicken of the Sea comment.

Oh my God. How dumb is Jessica Simpson? Okay, that's a rhetorical question, don't answer that.

This show is too funny. I was always a fan of 98 Degrees (along with the other boy bands :o), but this show makes me respect Nick Lachey way more than what I used to.

It's obvious that Jessica is still quite young by her naivete and the fact that she whines like a teenage girlfriend would. Still, I gotta love the girl.

I thought the chicken of the sea comment couldn't be topped. Boy was I wrong. I wonder if anything will top the buffalo comment.

No remarks about Jessica Simpson exposing her nipple?????

Yes, she showed some nip. Unfortunately for you guys MTV blurred it out.

Tonight's episode was hilarious. The whole bit with Jess and her mom shopping got annoying, but it was kind of funny how the only word they said was "cute." I'm sure they cut the video like that, but they still need to pick up a few words for their vocab.

The conversation in the end was probably the funniest thing I heard in the show up to this point. It went a little something like this (by the way I'm not quoting because I didn't pay enough attention to quote them):
Nick: How am I getting paid if I'm the designer?
Jessica: In the bedroom.
Nick: Then I want a raise, with benefits.
Jessia: What's that entail?
Nick: You know what that is.

Like I said I wasn't paying enough attention to quote, but you get the gist of the convo.

God darn it. I've gotta setup my DVR to record this show. Anyone know the schedule for this show?

I bet those camera men saw more of her breasts than what's shown on screen. Bastards.

I liked the raise with benefits thing :D

Terrible show, but I hate reality shows in general.

She's dumb as hell.

She does have a hot body, but she really isn't that pretty IMO. But I'm generally not into blondes.

Yee Haw, it's been renewed!

Is Jessica Simpson Really Dumb?

by Daniel R. Coleridge

You have too been watching MTV's Newlyweds. Don't front! With their careers as pop stars on shaky ground, hunky 98 Degrees dude Nick Lachey and "dumb blonde" Jessica Simpson signed on for a reality TV show about their marriage. Some grumps called this a desperate grab for publicity. Well, maybe so, but Newlyweds is the second-highest rated cable show after Sex and the City. And it's just been renewed by MTV for a second season. Joe Simpson — Jessica's dad, personal manager and executive producer — is one proud papa. Even if the show's portrayal of his sloppy, doofy, primadonna daughter isn't very flattering.

"What's happening here is Jessica knows she's on camera," he insists to TV Guide Online. "Since she was a little girl, people have been calling her a dumb blonde, [so] she begins to assume the role that everybody expects of her. That doesn't mean that's who she is. It's a part of her personality, but it's one that she's enhancing on the show. It's nothing that's not real, but she unintentionally exaggerates."

Uh huh. While clearly biased, Joe denies Jessica's TV antics are spoiling her image for fans. Instead, he generously compares her comedic talent to Lucille Ball's. He also thinks her imperfections are boosting her likeability (and album sales). "We did the show because everybody had seen Jessica as only a Barbie doll, because she does have beauty that separates her from the average person. She has a six octave range, so she also has a voice that not everybody [has]. So a lot of America didn't relate to her. We did this show so that people would see that, hey, she's just a normal kid."

Perhaps, but she sure is a pampered kid, accustomed to maid service and having her own way about things! Watching Nick scold Jessie for her slovenly ways is a guilty pleasure. "She'll never like cleaning," Joe admits. "Jessica always had someone else to do that, so she didn't have to. And she didn't go away to college — which is the first place kids begin to take responsibility — because she was on the road [singing]. Her marriage is her college experience." — Additional reporting by Rochell Thomas

I find that really hard to believe. Singers with a good range generally have about a two or three octave range.

Astro 10-04-03 12:55 AM

He also said she's a normal kid too, heh, so its hard to believe anything coming out of his mouth.

Oh and "she'll never like cleaning." I hate to break it to you, Mr. Simpson, but most of us don't like cleaning. Somehow, we manage.

It's possible to have six, but that doesn't mean it would sound good. There are a couple of people in the classical realm (and names slip me at the moment) who have strong 4-6 octave voices. I'm guessing Jessica's is more of the squeaky upper range like Mariah Carey's. Either way, she'll lose it unless she takes good care of it.

tofu 10-04-03 03:40 PM

What I still find so hard to believe is that before she was famous, she was basically a minister's daughter since Joe Simpson was supposedly a minister.

How can a minister's daughter be so spoiled? (My stereotypical view of ministers' daughters. My apologies to any out there reading this thread :D )

That's okay, I forgive you. :p

Seriously, though, I'm glad to hear that this is being picked up for a 2nd season. I love this show.

As opposed to the "definitive" opinions on this board?

big whoppa 10-05-03 08:45 AM

This show has been pretty watchable. Time will tell if a second season will get good ratings after the newness factor has worn out.

mrpayroll 10-05-03 09:11 AM

Well as long as Jessica continues to be, well Jessica, I think the ratings will continue to be really good. ;)

Jessica is hot chick no doubt.
She uses her hot body in a classy way like Ann Margret & Raqual Welch did in the past.
Brittney Spears & Christina Aguliera use their hot bodies in a slutty, sleazy way like Madonna did.

yeah real classy to have your nipple hanging out of your top..

The hairy a-hole banter at the beginning was hilarious.

Jessica: "My ear itches."
Nick: "Your ear is hot. When somebody talks about you, your ear gets hot. If your ear itches, you have a rash."

The preview for next week's show was funny, too. "23 is old. It's almost 25, which is almost mid 20's."

Nick: "Do you want to have sex?"
Jess: "No."

Man, this girl is dumb. But I love her!
