Good news depending on who's involved and what theme they're going for!

Update, from SuperHeroHype.com:

New Batman Cartoon Next Fall

Toon Zone has up a summary of a Wall Street Journal article on Time Warner which mentions the new Batman cartoon we've mentioned here before.

Teen Titans, another Kids WB-Cartoon Network cooperative venture, has been a huge hit for both, becoming one of CN's strongest shows and boosting Kids WB's Saturday ratings by 15%. In a reciprocal arrangement, Warner Bros.'s new Batman cartoon, which is slated to debut in the fall on Kids WB, will begin airing on Cartoon Network six months later.

Stay tuned for more news on this new animated series.

As far as edgy adult themed cartoons, MTVs Spiderman was fairly violent. Especially by American animation standards and from what I understand the ratings werent all that great. As a result it may not return for season 2. Its a sad fact but shows like Pokemon, Rugrats and Sailor Moon get monster ratings while more serious animated fare (Invasion America, Gargoyles etc) gets canceled.

This new rumored Batman series sound like Spiderman Unlimited, which was a god awful ripoff of Batman Beyond.

Also, it will suck because of the lack of 2 other good people.

1. Kevin Conroy
2. Mark Hamill

They embody all that was right about the Timm/Dini Batman and will never be replaced.
I agree 100%. Conroy is Batman. And unless Timm/Dini are involved, I'll pass.

In addition: I can't imagine Joker without Hamill either.

I grew up watching The Batman Animated Series and really liked year one and dark knight returns, I dont think it's the dark knight thats so good I think it's the writters. If frank miller and dini and timm created a new character or worked on a different I'd be more excited about that.

You wouldn't think it would be difficult for them to make the show like the first couple years of Batman: The Animated Series... but apparently it is.

From http://www.adamwest.com/batnews.cfm

Adam in new Batman Animated Series!

Adam West will be the voice of yet another mayor, on yet another animated series! He has just recorded as the voice of the Mayor of Gotham City for the new Batman Animated TV Series!
Also, TVTome claims that the new series will be called The Batman, will be starting in Sept. 2004, and Kevin Conroy is expected to voice Batman/Wayne once again.

From Comics Continuum.com:

Adam West will be providing the voice of the mayor of Gotham City in The Batman, a new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation being targeted for a fall launch.

The show is expected to air both on Cartoon Network and Kids' WB!, with official details to be announced soon. The Batman will feature a younger version of the character than currently shown in Justice League. Batman will be voiced by Rino Romano, whose credits include the lead role in Spider-Man Unlimited.

Dude, that sucks! I guess TVTome was wrong.

Any reason why Kevin Conroy isn't doing it?

I saw the last movie, it wasn't the best but i still liked it.

What i would like to see is the WB taking the voice overs and sound from the original Batman series and redoing the animation with a higher budget. Granted it would still be the same stories but i would take that over a subpar new series. I will give the new series a fair chance though because there is no saying how it will turn out

When people say it doesn't matter if anime is dubbed into English I always point out Conroy and how important voice actors are.
