Richard Benjamin was the captain in Quark. If I remember correctly, the plant character Jean/Gene was played by the great Tim Thomerson. That was when NBC was in @ 5th place among the 3 networks.
I also forgot to mention the interesting medical drama Gideon's Crossing from ABC a couple of years ago.

Witchblade ! Just getting into the second (final) season, and it's fantastic, like Farscape I can't believe it would ever have been cancelled.
Also worth mentioning are American Gothic and Kindred: The Embraced. Such a pity that guy died in a Bike accident, I'm sure the series would have been as big as Buffy if he'd lived.

Sports Night is obvious, as well as My So-Called Life. I'd forgotten about Strange Luck -- that was one fun show.
I thought Once and Again was another show that was better than its fate.
Other one season shows that I wish had more time: Alien Nation, Max Headroom, Crusade.
Not to put down anyone's choice, but Space: Above & Beyond got about 15 more episodes than it deserved. I liked those stories when they were told the first time, back in the 50s on westerns, before they were ripped off for this thing.

I think it was called the Good Life. It had Drew Carey and some other stand up that does an awesome impersonation of Harry Carrey. It was on in the early 90's.
Fox also had a show in the early 90's called the Best of the Worst starring Greg Kinnear. It was a clip show of all kinds of crazy stuff.
USA had a kickass show called Good vs. Evil or GvsE about two guys who hunted down Morlocks. It was very stylish and edgy. I remember it starred Richard Brooks as one of those guys. USA dumped it and it moved to Sci-Fi where it failed shortly thereafter.
Most recently Robbery Homicide Division and Greg the Bunny.

"The Job!!"
YES!! How could I not think of it?!?
Way too smart and mean-spirited for American TV.
I love the episode where he went on vacation w/ his mistress, (the babealicious Karyn parsons). Their scene on the beach, when she gave him the sunblock was classic.
"SPF 50?!? What am I, an Albino?!?"

OOh forgot to mention a show on about 5 years ago called Others, or The Others, was a bit spooky, everyone had psychic powers, and they were like a psychic detective group.
It was really creepy and I have no idea why they cancelled it.
I think it only had about 5 episodes and the cast had that weird guy who played Benny in the film The Mummy.
Anyone remember this, so I know I'm not going out of my mind?

A show I bet no one else remembers, that was on for what seems like a month: "All is Forgiven". About a soap opera and it's writers. I believe it was created by the team behind "Cheers" and "Frasier". It had a great cast and was *very* funny.

I also have to go with The State, My So-Called Life, Firefly and Alien Nation.
