FUNNIEST NEWS FROM THE SHOW:

according to Fox, Michael jackson DID NOT win "artist of the milennium"!!!

that was a giant birthday cake behind him and it was supposed to be a 'happy birthday, mike' gimmick, but the ass took the top off the cake and thought it was an award.

that's why the "award" was so cheap looking (glitter covered) - it was a cake topping!!!

Maybe that explains why Jimmy Fallon joked that they were giving them to everyone backstage.

1. Britney looked absolutely stupid in leather.

2. Pink looked really hot and I liked her song.

3. Anthony Kiedis is cool!

4. Eminem is a white trash boy c*nt.

BTW Guesswho, when i knew him most people called him Bruce or Robert, Rob, Robbie<---he hated, instead of William. It was in Ca, pre LA Guns.

I still know one of his siblings.

This may be long, because I watch this with my friends every year and just find such enjoyment in thinking what could be.

Overall I thought the awards were terrible as always. But the awards are one of those things I watch every year, just to rip on people the whole time. I just really need the visuals, because the dialogue is just painful.

A few ways to make em better:
1. Stop trying to do creative things before each category. Those moon-men commericials weren't entertaining, and those things never are. Just say the category and the nominations.
2. Stop trying to do the comedy song-dance thing. I mean, it's been done 100X over, and every year I"m like d@m you billy crystal for starting all that!
3. Stop with the warddrobe changes. What's the point? Of course, unless it's a woman host, and as the show progresses they get smaller and smaller. (This case move it to what is good category)
4. Stop with the nominations on anysong that has a special performer.. Make this a rule! Ja Rule and Ashanti, Fat Joe and Ashanti, Ashanti and Ashanti... ENOUGH! It's like you give out multiple awards, isn't the concept an award for an artist, not a group of artists that decided let's get together do 25 seconds each of a song, and put it, since it has to appeal to somebody since there are 20 artists.

Things that were good:
1. GNR, Hives, Vines etc. At least it was music, and people performing live, what an idea! I just wish Van Halen presented, who cares if they're 80, I"ll watch it over half that other stuff.
2. Christina's "outfit" , Puff Daddy's cirque de solel "performance", Triumph scaring tough old Eminem, Anna...
3. The Osbourne thing, sure it's setup, but it's still funny. Ozzy, is just to much.
4. Not one mention of Limp Biscuit!

Observations:
1. Was it me, or was the 2nd olson twin, the one on the right quite a bit less attractive than the one on the left. She looked a bit bulky too..
2. Brittney looked a bit extra thick to me, and has me wondering if with her time off, she'll chunk up, and never be able to return to the * cough * stardom she had before.
3. Was it J-Lo's first award ever? She thought she received the Peace Prize she was so taken back. (for an award that shouldn't have counted under my rules since it was a collaboration)
4. Why did Ja Rule or whatever, run off stage after his performance to take his shirt off and change his pants.. Why did Eminem not have a shirt on.. is it the "in thing" now?
5. Why did that Kelly Osbourne let them use that video, where her belly is just hanging out.. (although it was quite amusing)
6. How are we suppose to believe Moby has a problem with Eminem? This is a stretch even for Eminem.. haha.

Hope you enjoyed my list, that was me and my friends thoughts on the night.

I'm surprised no one else has noted how hot Anna Kournikova looked last night. I hate Enrique Iglesias!

I don't have MTV, so I didn't get to see the awards, but I REALLY want to see GnR's performance.

Can someone put it up on a site or something?

Sort of agree with the Olson twin observation. I was thinking the same thing (amongst other, somewhat....*ahem*....less purient things) while watching them.

As for Britney.....dude, you are WAY off. I mean, you are just SO far off, that you be sucking the same oxygen as Lance Bass! I am NOT a Britney fan. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Britney Spears reprezants everything that's wrong with the "music" world today.

HOWEVER.......that outfit.

WHOLLY MOLY! She looked absolutely poured into that thing. The way that leather caressed her flesh, clinging and showcasing, her fizzzine suppleness. My god, the effect was just, just....

Of course, then she opened her mouth to speak. So I turned the volume down and continued to just...imagine. Hrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmasssssssy!

Moby's Take on the Eminem thing from his webpage www.moby.com

so, i, uh, guess that i have to write something about the eminem/vma debacle.
hmmm....well, what should i write?
the truth?
the truth is that i honestly, in all sincerity, thought that the whole eminem thing was done in some semblance of humor until eminem called me a ***** (that was off camera) and then threatened to beat me up. ah well.
oh, by the way, i posted about a million photos of my vma night. go look at moby art and see my frivolous vma photos. they're frivolous.
more truth?
i think that eminem is talented and interesting but i'm kind of stunned at the anger that he has for me seeing as i'd never met him up until last night.

and i love 'triumph the insult comic dog'.
and i was more concerned for triumph's well-being.if eminem wants to pick on someone, fine, pick on me, but don't diss the dog-puppet. triumph the dog-puppet is my hero.
that's the sole reason that i went to the vma's.
cos i love that little dog-puppet.
and jimmy fallon's intro was utterly outstanding.
and the strokes after party performance was wonderful.
thanks,
moby

I caught a little bit of the VMA's last night. It may be that I'm
just older than the target demographic but the show was consistantly horrible.
The performances by P. Diddy, the Vines, the Hives, Sheryl Crow, and the
abortion of the new Guns 'N' Roses were crap across the board. Axl's band looks
like they should be playing for Marilyn Manson and he could barely catch his
breath. Pathetic. Pink accepted an award by stating how drunk she was.
Christina Aguillera presented looking and acting like a hoochie in a Nelly
video. To top it all off Jimmy Fallon was wearing so much makeup he looked like
Terrance Stamp in Prisilla Queen of the Desert.

A long time ago, I remember actually enjoying at least parts of this award show.

Everyone was just so callow and unprofessional that, comparatively, my friend's band that just played a local club, puts on a much more accomplised show than anything on the VMAs last night - and they're not terribly good.

VMA aka everything that is wrong with music today - hey that rhymes.

My local news had a story on the awards and they had a good laugh over Michael Jackson. Apparently Britney said "You're the artist of the millenium to me" and so he takes the top off the cake and starts making an acceptance speech over being the artist of the millenium.

Whatta freak

1. As for Axl and GnR, you can find some of their recent performances (Las Vegas New Years, Rock in Rio), and Axl sounds fine. I can only guess last night's performance suffered from his running around a bit too much, as well as the obvious technical problem he was having with his mic/monitor.

If you don't beleive me, go here

http://www.mygnr.com/bootleg/2001/La...Las_Vegas.html

2. Definitely the funniest part of the night was the creation of the "MTV Lisa Lopes AIDS Scholarship Fund", which was absurd enough, but THEN they followed up TLC's emotional speech by simply announcing the nominees for the next stupid category! How tacky!

I could not believe they wheeled him out on stage, esp after he was parading around NY in an open top bus comdemning the music industry.

The man is a freak show at this point, the only reason I did not forward him on there was in case something happened.

Plus I loved Pink's performance, she rocks...

Forgot Dave Matthews.
Thanks those were the ones I didn't know. I assumed the people they were showing was who he was spoofing, but wasn't sure and wouldn't understand it anyway.

Nope, Syracuse. But other then the accent and weather, there isn't much difference.
