Dude i know him, he and i got into a big 30 minute fight way back in the day and that was the last time we saw each other. Way before he ever made it big.

Long story.

I enjoyed GNR. Forgive me, but I'm loving the 80's resurgance and I saw nothing wrong, at all, with the performance. Avril Lavigne sounded a lot worse in the preshow. And Shakira - don't get me started.

I was watching the show mainly for Jimmy Fallon. Yes, I like him. Making no apologies for it, either.

I will say, I *hated* the grainy film look. Made it look more like a concert film and less like a live broadcast. Hate that.

Trivia question:

How many original, "Guns N' Roses" songs have been released since Izzy left the band in late 1991?

Answer:

Exactly one: The mediocre (and I'm being polite) "Oh My God" from the End of Days soundtrack from a few years ago.

Izzy was the real backbone of G N' R. Not Slash's playing (however good that might have been), not Axl's histrionics, but Izzy. When he left, that's when they fell apart.

Stick a fork in Axl's ass and turn him over, he's done.

Once again, proof that MTV is evil incarnate. I'd like to take them, the RIAA and the 3 major label corporate syndicates and throw them in a deep dark pit where starving wolverines will slowly eat them from the inside out.

Music needs to be given back to the people. REVOLUTION!!!!!

Well, apparently I'm in the minority here because I liked the VMAs. Of course, I didn't start watching it with all the negativity bursting out of my ears as some of you obviously did.

Jimmy Fallon's opening act was hilarious. I was .

Eminem needs some anger management classes. I was shocked he won when Christina Aguilera was the one presenting the award. Seems like MTV likes to do that kind of thing. I happen to remember Britney and Christina having to present him with an award either last year or the year before.

I don't care what the hell you guys think, Christina Aguilera was off da hizook! Good God! I wasn't sure if that was a skirt or a belt. I don't remember her breasteses being that big...I wonder if she's had some surgery?

Britney, Britney, Britney. Geez, she's really trying to change her image, huh? Kinda reminded me of Paula Abdul's outfit in the Cold Hearted Snake video.

Brandy....yikes! Either the pregnancy increased her bust 3 fold, or she's had some work done...probably the pregnancy, though.

Justin Timberlake sucked ass. I'm not ashamed to say that I like N Sync, but Justin's performance sucked big time.

Admittedly, I'm not very knowledgeable about today's rock n' roll (I'm an R&B and hip-hop kinda person) and I don't even know who the hell The Vines are, but I thought their performance was pretty good.

I hate P. Diddy, but the performance with him, Usher, Pharrell, Busta, etc. was pretty good. They were all lip syncing, but the actual performance was better than I would have expected.

Although it seems like a lot of you hated Axl & company, I liked their performance. Axl struggled, but it was just good to see him perform again. I always wondered what the hell had happened to GNR.

Pink's performance was pretty good. It was funny when she accepted the award drunk.

Lastly, Enrique Iglesias is my frickin' idol. Shannon Elizabeth....Jennifer Love Hewitt....Anna Kournikova. Bastard.

Ugh. Just saw the "Guns N' Roses" medley (missed it the first time).

If I could travel back in time ten years and show my 1992, Guns N' Roses maniac self this performance, my 1992 self probably would have killed himself, or at the very least, would have destroyed the TV, and ripped all his two walls worth of GN'R pictures and posters from the walls.

The band itself wasn't too bad (but still not nearly as good as the original line-up), but Axl was just flat-out embarrassing. Try to defend it all you want, but I've heard dozens of live GN'R performances (and saw them live twice), and I've never heard Axl sound that bad. Ever. There just has to be a point where you say to yourself "You know, this isn't 1988 anymore. Time to move on."

Whatever little bit I could stomach of the rest of the show, thanks to the performers and the horrid video presentation, reminded me of the very reason that I haven't watched EmptyVee in years. Totally soulless.

I think this will be the last time I ever watch an EmptyVee awards show.

He was the only reason I even flipped it on. (Well him, and to see Shakira shake.) Unfortunately, I didn't know who he was doing on a couple of them. But the ones I did know I thought were great. Wasn't too crazy about him the rest of the time.
Shakira-I don't think she's what everyone make her out to be. But I can't change the channel when she starts wiggling.

I guess I'm in the minority again with Shakira because I don't think her ass wiggling is all that great. She basically does the same thing as people who dance hula and Tahitian. Pretty much every girl who dances hula can do her ass jiggle. But I guess people outside of Hawaii don't get to see ass jiggling that often, so it's a novelty to them.

You might be onto something there.
Because I am part Hawi’ian, it appeals to me, and it's my way of getting in touch with my roots.

Dude, you're part Hawaiian and you don't even know how to spell Hawaii?

Guess you didn't go to Kamehameha.

dude you have GOT to be kidding me!! I used to be one of the BIGGEST gnr fans out there....seriously I idolized them. AXL flat out SUCKED tonight. it was EMBARRESING watching him perform. I hope that he just needs to practice and get his voice back, but if this is how he sounds now....forget it.... my dead dog can sing better. You can honestly with a straight face say you thought he sounded decent tonight?? The guy was out of breath from running a total of 20 feet...it was so sad. oh my god. im still in shock how pathetic he was. The party was over a looong time ago with GNR.

Am I to infer that you live in Baton Rouge or somewhere in Louisiana (maybe New Orleans)? I was too lazy to look up the 56th best sports city....

If so, you're excused.

Almost forgot. Did anyone else want to push down Justin from American Idol.

I actually liked Shakira's performance. No idea why. I guess I just like all the performances that weren't lip synched, which isn't too many.

Triumph was nothing tonight, because neither Moby nor Eminem gave him anything to work with.

Hottest chicks of the night: Lisa Marie Presley, Christina Aguilera, and a few more that I am forgetting.

I loved G'n'R back in the day, but Rose's voice just wasn't there last night. It might have been an off night, it might have been nerves, but that just wasn't a good performance. Hopefully he can rebound, because I would love to see him be able to rock out on those songs again.

Lame moments: a lot of the banter among the presenters (Olsen twins, etc). Just present the damn awards!

Good to see James Brown. Bad to see Michael Jackson. Watching David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar is like watching a car accident....you know you should turn away, but you just can't...

Eminem: Calling Moby a little girl was unnecessary, as was saying that he would hit a man with glasses. I guess it is hard to complain about being held back on MTV when you receive a bunch of awards from them. At least he got booed for it. I like his music, but he is just a pasty little white guy that is just trying to drum up controversy to keep his name in the news (the old Michael "I'll sell the Enquirer a picture of me sleeping in a hydrogen tank but deny it" Jackson trick).

Eminem is afraid of anyone that will make him look bad - i.e. anyone that will talk back to him without having to take his obnoxiousness, like interviewers do. That is why he wouldn't talk to Triumph...
