Nope, it's a continuity mistake. Season 1 has a few. That's a big one.

From pretty much that episode on, vampires are repelled by a barrier they cannot do anything through when they try to enter a home.

They just hadn't worked out all the kinks yet.

If I'm not mistaken, the way syndication works is that whoever has the rights to a show (in this case FX) can and usually will rerun the last, newest season, once the current season begins. In other words, by the time that FX gets to the end of season 5 (sometime in late October), season 7 will already have begun, and FX will automatically get the rights to run season 6.

But there are other Buffy syndication deals in play, so who knows how things will play out. I've seen Buffy on my local Fox affiliate (and the episodes are sporadic, not in any order at all from week to week).

Later on it's shown nothing can enter...

However, it's done again later on when Angelus grabs Xander through Buffy's window.

I think an excuse can be made that when stuck in someone else's "aura" then some tranfser can be made if it's limited...

I own the first two seasons myself. I am refreshing myself with one and hope to begin the second one soon. While the show is still good, it has really fallen a long way in quality since the early years.

People are down on season 6, but it's excellent. Just watch it and enjoy the character development. The entire crew is left flailing in the wind, not dealing with growing up very well and having a very rough time. Like in all Buffy seasons there are high-points and low-points. Season 6 is up to snuff.

I thought season six was pretty good overall, especially towards the end. I just couldn't stand whiny little Dawn.

I hate thinking I will have to wait for Season 3 for six months.

.
You don't, season 3 & 4 are available in other countries, you can buy the dvd and get a region free player. Do a search on ebay for buffy season 3.

When Angelus grabs Xander, if I remember correctly it's in the episode in which Xander
Spoiler:
has Amy create a love spell and everyone falls for him except Cordelia
, he has already been invited in by Buffy, and he has been seen in her room in previous episodes. In that episode, she had not yet done the spell to prevent him from coming in. The spell to prevent Angelus from entering again happens in the episode that follows.

I'm watching Season 6 this summer, and it does seem to get better the second time around for me.

I think for season 7 we definitely need to see the return of Jenny Calender...watching my season 2 DVDs I remember why I liked it so much

I doubt anything could get me to like season 6 except for the musical. I am so utterly disapointed at what happened to the show.

Laertes, you are right. I made the mistake because when rewatching season 2 episodes I forgot to watch BB&B and so didn't realise it was before Passion. I just started watching Becoming tonight then realised I missed it... then my first thought was I gave out false information here.

I wish UPN would have re-played season 6 in the summer in sequential order, but it seems they are jumping all over the place. We got the Riley Return episode on Tuesday, and the one where Giles and Anya share a passionate kiss last night.

Vampire lore question: We know the demon takes the body and the soul vanishes upon being changed. I was wondering what happens to the demonic spirit after the vamp bites it. Does it find a new body or just return to hell?
Also, are Vampires capable of true love even if they don't have a soul? Spike seemed to have legit feelings for Drusilla but wouldn't not having a sould render him incapable of love?

They don't seem to stick real close to vampire lore on Buffy. I always wondered why they never used the lore that if you kill a vampire's sire...those vampires would become human again.

Why does Spike call Angel his sire? I thought Drusilla was Spike's Sire.

The Master is Darla's sire

Darla is Angel's sire

Angel is Spike and Drusila's sire

Until season 5. It seems to be one of those things that they decided to slightly revise.

A soul doesn't go anywhere because a soul is just a guiding force. Your question is like asking when I die, where does my conscience go?

A soul in the buffyverse isn't the same as a soul in christian mythology where it's your BEING... In the buffyverse it's simply, more or less, your conscience. It drives you to do what's right or what's wrong... depending on the type of soul. When you're changed into a vampire, your soul is replaced with a demon one. Your body is mixed with a demon body. The changes are so extreme, that they cause you to be a new person.

Also, are Vampires capable of true love even if they don't have a soul? Spike seemed to have legit feelings for Drusilla but wouldn't not having a sould render him incapable of love?
All a soul does it make you enjoy doing good, enjoy knowing good, and enjoy hearing good.

When someone with a soul hears about a child getting killed, they'll feel bad about it.

A vampire/demon soul makes you enjoy doing evil, enjoy watching evil, and enjoy hearing evil.

When someone with a demon soul hears about a child getting killed, they'll like it, it will make them feel good.

When you have a demon soul, you'll never feel guilty about anything you do that's "wrong"

So this doesn't stop any love between two vampires... however, it can definitly put a dampner on things... the love would be very selfish, Spike would never do something good for Dru because it's what's good for her, he'd do it because it's what's good for him.

For example, lets take Casablanca (the movie) at the end Rick lets Ilsa leave on the plane because he knows it would be better for her future. He loves her deeply, and would love to be with her, but he has to let her go for her best interests.

Spike, on the other hand, in the end of season 2... gets so upset and fearful that Dru might go with Angel, that he goes behind her back to double cross her and Angelus, beats Angelus witha crowbar, then when she gets upset over this, he smacks her with a crowbar and carries her away unconcious before driving out of town.

There is your difference.

Why does Spike call Angel his sire? I thought Drusilla was Spike's Sire.
He's his Grand Sire. The term can mean either your blood line or the one who changed you.

Since Angel was the leader of Spike, and someone he sired, sired Spike... Spike also considers Angel his sire.

From what I have read and seen,
Spoiler:
Angel, Spike, and Drusilla would all have been cured early in season one if killing the sire was what worked.

Oh well, the show is a lot more interesting with them as vamps than it would be without.

Exactly, ACPM. Originally they wrote Angel as Spike's sire in School Hard. They then decided it would serve them better if Dru sired Spike. As Joss says, "Continuity is for wusses."

Joss must like the new Star Wars trilogy then

While I have just begun watching my Season 2 DVDs, I do not understand if Drusilla is lethal or just generally nuts. IMO, she doesn't seem like much of a threatening character, just some crazy eccentric vampire.

Becoming Part II was THE saddest episode ever. Anne was more lighthearted. When Buffy has that dream about Angel... doesn't she know she didn't kill him?

And Buffy at least left her mother a note... but I have a feeling Xander and Willow are going to be first majorly happy, then majorly ticked off since she didn't give them any indication she was not dead. So it's been a summer since Becoming Part II right?

And whoa Buffy's mom. What's with the jealousy?

Ok time to make it official... I find Head totally, majorly, irresistibly HOT.
