They went to see a car show, but were a week late. Hal already paid the money to park the car, so they stayed. Didn't you watch the episode?

Just read an article with Brian Cranston stating that we will not find out this season if the baby is a boy or a girl...

Malcolm In The Middle Season Finale 05/18/2003

This is a one hour episode (or actually two half hour episodes back to back). I saw the first one, and:

Spoiler:
Francis delivers Lois' baby. We don't find out if it is a boy or a girl, but they do name it Jamie. So I guess it could go either way. In last week's Malcolm thread, I mentioned that Bryan Cranston said that we won't find out this season the sex of the baby, and it looks like we won't (unless they say it in the second episode, which I doubt)

Dewey's explanation of God in the second episode was fantastic.

I loved the singalongs at Reese's Sunday school classes as well. Classic!

Ok I have both episodes on Tivo here is the sex of the baby:

Right in the beginning of the second episode - when the baby's dipers are "full" They take the baby outside and Lois says:

Spoiler:
"His Diper is full again" or something to that nature

If you have it tivo'd or taped check it out - I rewound it and people who were watching it with me caught it too.

hmmmm I'm going to have to watch it again... we have 3 diff words it could be.

Isn't CC just someone typing along with the show.. not a complete transcript of the show.

I'll post back when I watch it again tonight

CC is done live on the news channels, but thats about it. If its scripted, its done in advance, and it's easy to tell.

I'll concede to the closed captioning on this matter.

Weird Malcolm in the Middle question

I've only seen the first two minutes of the season premiere of Malcolm in the Middle, but I have a question based on those tow minutes:

In what I saw, Dewey had a rabbit, and Reese was tormenting it. My question is, does the rabbit show up in subsequent episodes?

Reese wasn't tormenting the rabbit...he was egging Dewey on to keep entering it in more contests. BTW, I love the way they handle those two characters...it's a great ongoing plotline that you've basically got two mortal enemies living in the same household.

A few seasons ago, Dewey had a hampster in an early episode that he set free. The running joke that season had the hampster rolling around in his ball every episode.

Yeah ... the backstory is, my wife and I have a couple of pet rabbits. The one they showed on TV was extremely unhealthy (i.e. fat), and was in a cage that was far too small for him. For a variety of reasons unrelated to the show, it really upset my wife, to the point where we had to turn the episode off. So she doesn't want to watch the show any more if the rabbit is going to show up every week, because it will just upset her.

Anyway, it sounds like the bunny was a one-time only character, so we can start working our way through the backlog of Malcolms on the TiVo.

Groucho, I loved that hamster -- didn't he make it all the way to Alaska, where Francis was working that season (or am I just making that up?)

Doesn't Glenn Close have a guest-starring role in a subsequent episode where she umm...cooks the family a nice dinner?

For what it's worth, we have a very pampered house rabbit, and Dewey's overstuffed Gordo just cracked us up.....
