This show did a brilliant job of being entertaining and relevant to almost every age group. It's made repeat viewings as I've gotten older quite a treat as I can relate to different people more closely. It's also one of the few shows that introduced a baby, and didn't either forget about the kid completely, or start to go downhill.

Thread bump because Collider has a post up on what they feel are the top 15 episodes, and it is a pretty good list

A good reminder that I should rewatch this show soon as it was just such a wonderful show.

One of the best sitcoms of all time.

I don't agree with everything on the list but its got some of my favorite episodes on it. I like " Rollerskates" and "Family Reunion" . I really do miss this show. Any streaming network carrying it right now? I wish you could buy the whole series somewhere but music rights were a big issue.

Re: Malcolm in the Middle on FOX -- Series Discussion

Thanks dex, true to my post yesterday, I have started a re-watch, and am already on at least the 3rd or 4th episode. I was still cracking up at some of the jokes in these early episodes, and I have to say that the Pilot episode is indeed one for the ages, Lois shaving Hal who is naked and reading the paper in the kitchen, and her answering the door topless when Malcom's teacher visits, such classic bits.

The PQ looks great, and it looks like any stingers (that is what those scenes that pop up right after or during the credits are called, right?) are intact as in the pilot episode I forgot that Malcom was talking to the camera on top of a trash can while Dewey was saying let me out as the credits rolled.

I also forgot that this show kind-of got away with some visual images that I might not have noticed the first time around, such as when Francis is talking to his mom on the phone and mentions the pervasive sense of homoeroticism in the academy, and a cadet is in the background doing sit ups and you can see his hands air feel/grab another cadets testicles each time he does a sit-up, that visual gag got a real chuckle out of me and had me going, whoa....that was not blurred out or something when this show first aired, but it was a Fox show so that may have helped it get away with a bit more adventurous humor and visual gags.

I know what you mean about those subtle background jokes.

Like in one episode Piama was doing nude modeling at the art school, and Francis was unhappy about it. They're arguing, and Otto comes in mid scene, "I'm taking the art class tonight! Piama, what color are your nipples?"
They ignore him and continue the argument, how the modeling job brings extra income to the family, etc. But at the end of the argument, you can see Piama very subtly pointing to one blob of paint on Otto's pallette.

I just completed my rewatch, and the final episode really is one of the best tv series finales of all time.
