Its not a big deal.
I was scrolling through Google News on my phone last night and one of the first articles was "Peacock losing content days after launch" from Engadget.

Might not be a big deal in the long run but it's a bad look to potential customers who don't take the time to dig into these headlines.

Peacock says the 30 Rock special is only going to be up for 30 days.

Which is weird because it's basically just an ad for Peacock. I'm not sure what other service would even want it.

If Peacock ends up flopping as bad as Quibi and they are bought out by HBO does it just absord into HBOMAX or do they come up with a new name like MaxCock

MaxCock auto-corrects to MacBook. Interesting.

Really?

They have CBS All Access, Hulu, Amazon. Apple TV, DIsney Plus and a bunch of other apps like Haystack TV nobody has ever heard of

I thought maybe they would do a software update or something to get that App on your TV.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Strange Peacock is not there and I typed in the app search engine and it did not show up.

Maybe you have to go the Peacock website and if there is a app there you have to download it.

These are the current devices that support Peacock.

And while this is on LG TVs, the webOS version must be 3.5 or higher and our TV has 3.3.something and that is the latest for our model. Fortunately at this time we only have the free tier. The only way for us to watch per the availability is connecting one of our Laptops to the TV which is truly a pain. It was fine to watch Psych. Here's to hoping they get Roku app, an Amazon app, work with previous versions of WebOS, and the flurry of other Smart devices out there (just like the wish for HBOMax).

I'm in the same boat with you re: my LG TV. Fortunately, I decided to pick up an Apple TV about six weeks back so I could use it for HBO Max, now I'm getting the benefit of the Peacock app as well, as neither are available on either my LG TV or my Roku.

Haha. I have a beta Hotfix on my 2017 Shield and Peacock won't even run on it. It says my device isn't secure.

Lame.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

So Unsolved Mysteries (original with Robert Stack) is on this service. All 12 seasons. I already watched all of them on Amazon Prime.

But, I was sifting through it the other night and a lot of the episodes have the wrong episode description. At least the ones I looked through in seasons 1 and 2.

Also, the old FOX series House is on this service. They changed the opening theme song from Tear Drop by Massive Attack to some generic music that is apparently used in the European version of the show. What's strange about this is the NBC app also has House and they use Tear Drop.

This is lame

I am not going to buy another device just to watch it or sit in front of my Imac for 4 hrs.

I thought they would want it on every platform and TV that is out there and get more eyeballs but apparently they did not think of this stuff before launching the service.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Yeah I dont get the strategy either. Thankfully I also have an Xbox One setup and can sideload the Android app on my bedroom FireTVs. The lack of Samsung/Roku support is mind bottling.

Use part of your stimulus money to buy an Apple TV 😜 Then you can have HBO Max too.

I have zero interest in this. I don’t really see what it has to offer every other service doesn’t.

Peacock is indeed blocking HDMI connections to your TV.

A lot of people who don't own devices that support Peacock tried to stream the live soccer matches on launch day to their TVs and they were blocked.

Is this the first streaming service that does HDMI lockout like this?

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I'll have to try it on my laptop hooked to the TV and see if it's blocked. I've never seen anything do that before on it. I tried to use my TV's internal web browser for it and it wouldn't even let me get to any show listings. So much for "Can't not watch."

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

You would think a late arriving streamer would have most of the technical and content issues worked out before launching. I could understand in the early days of streaming there would be hiccups but not at this stage. If you really want to become a major player and hang with the big boys you need to come out of the gates firing on all cylinders. Peacock isn’t doing that.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

So if I subscribe to NBC through cable provider, does that mean I get Peacock for free?

Only for Comcast subscribers, which owns Peacock.

Sure you can get the free tier with ads, but if you don't have a compatible device, then it's worthless to you.
